I absolutely love this studio, mainly because in most classes, I LEARN something about my body. Paul's classes, especially, offer such depth and understanding of biomechanics. Nothing beats the intelligence of the Iyengar system, imho! I will say that Paul has a unique way of balancing his precise knowledge with a very spacious accommodation, which is TRULY the art of an engaged teacher. However, there are other instructors here (I won't name names) that unfortunately trigger my sympathetic nervous system with their tone, and overuse of the word "should." As much as I try to get past this, my breath and body just become tight, and I don't move as freely with overly managed instruction. Yoga House could be one of the last studios on the Eastside that uphold the integrity of a yogic learning environment. As a yogi of 25 years, and an instructor myself, I recommend the Iyengar classes to anyone working to heal injuries and those who want to deepen their practice. It's not a miracle, but a more serious approach to yoga can be transformative, on many levels. read more

A True Sanctuary for Mind, Body, and Spirit I can't say enough wonderful things about Pasadena Yoga House! I recently attended the class for people with mobility challenges, led by the incredible Peggy, and it was truly a transformative experience. As someone living with Lupus and Muscular Dystrophy, finding a movement space where I feel safe, seen, and supported has been a long journey. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed--not just by the staff, but by the beautiful community that gathers here. There's a genuine warmth in the room that you can feel, and Peggy's presence and guidance made all the difference. She was patient, attentive, and so compassionate, offering helpful adjustments and making sure each student felt comfortable and included. The studio is clean, calm, and absolutely beautiful. They offer plenty of props to support your practice, and the meditation beginning and at the end of class was the perfect way to wind down and reconnect with myself. It's rare to find a space that honors both your limitations and your potential--but Pasadena Yoga House does just that. If you're looking for a welcoming, inclusive, and healing space to move, breathe, and just be--you've found it. This is a nice yoga studio in South Pasadena! It has such a warm, homey vibe to it. You check in, put your bag away, and walk into the studio. The instructors are so wonderful, I've only been with 2 of them, but I've had great experiences so far. Parking is always tough in the South Pas / Pasadena area. There's side street parking just be careful about not parking in the residential area due to restrictions. Price is fair. I'm happy there is an affordable yoga studio in the area. Never imagined to hear I don't belong in a yoga class. Tried the easier class and felt the need to a little challange. I was approached toward the end of the session by a bit flustered instructur to be told, before being given suggestions, that I "did not belong to this class and should take a different one". (I was pretty aware I wasn't following the pose and was doing whatever felt good to me). After processing what just happened left class extremely upset. I was approached by a very kind assistant who took my info. Management reached out on Monday to apologize and reinburse me for the class but could not refrain from stating that instructor's respose had been reviewed from recording and was deemed appropriate (not sure exacly how was heard since I was sitting at the edge of the room). Not writing this review as retaliation, just trying to find a closure to an unkind situation. Whishing for more compassion and acceptance in an unkind world Namaste. read more

Updating to downgrade this to one star because I also emailed the studio directly, and they didn't bother to respond. Next update: I did eventually get a voicemail. They said they would extend my pass for another month. I appreciate that, but I doubt it will really solve my problem, as the studio's concept of class capacity has students packed too closely together for my comfort level. read more

I booked my classes on the mind/body app. The yoga house informed me of the actual prices, and after a few years of going here, I'm finally told that I've been charged 10$ more per class, than the actual price. When I arrived today, the entire studio was under construction. It was so loud that I could not hear my instructor. When I went to speak to the owner, she told me to just go home. She said she sent out an email last week informing customers of the noise. I explained how I don't receive junk emails, and I booked through a third party, which had no information on construction. There wasn't even a sign on the door to warn people. The owner was a total b**** who wouldn't make eye contact... she was absolutely the worst business owner I've ever encountered. She offered no apology, no sympathy, no logical solution. I don't think she has ever taken a yoga class in her life. I will not be going back. I will stick to One Down Dogg in Eagle Rock, and Love yoga in Venice. Those are two very good studios. read more

I have wanted to come here for a while now. So happy I finally got to come since it is a tad bit far. No regrets. I found a place where I can grow. I have been on this yoga journey for just over a year. The place has two studios and a cool yoga clothing and book store. I would come just to check out the variety of yoga clothing, mats, essential oils, accessories. The books are really good too! There are ones I am about to purchase with pictures asanas forcused on hip openers or arm/handstand with correct body form explanations. Ok back to the classes. I just have come to one so far which is Chaim Om's level 1-2. The class was Tuesday at 7:15p for 1 hr 30 min. That is more than enough time to work on everything and get really zen. I applaud you Yoga House & teacher Chaim for teaching this class. The pace is medium, we did some flow, many asanas (poses), which felt really good to me, worked on head or handstands adjusted to your level. Chaim will come over to assist if you are struggling, which is great. I was happy to do handstands, wheel, standing split, half moon pose which is not available sometimes in other classes. The class had only 6 people and there was plenty of space. I don't know what people complain about this studio being crowded (not at 7:15p on Tuesday). Pros: Because the class is so long, you will work on everything, most body parts and get really relaxed and stretched Cons: If you are total beginner, this class will be hard to follow. If you have had a few 10+ yoga classes, it should be ok. Parking is tough depending on the time you come. There are 6 spots behind studio, parking on street on Fair Oaks and small street directly across from studio next to remodeling tract homes (1 min walk). The physical space echos alot, so just watch and pay attention if you cant' hear. read more

My bf and I have been coming to Yoga House for a couple of months now...We were looking for a studio with more challenging classes after being at our last yoga studio for 6+ months and feeling like the classes were no longer challenging enough. A girlfriend of mine told me about Yoga House and we decided to give it a try. We did 1 week (7 days) free, and then $40 unlimited for our first month. We mainly go to Level 1-2 and Level 2 Vinyasa classes. We came to Yoga House having practiced yoga for about 8 months and feel that we got a good foundation of the poses from our previous studio, so the upper level classes are not too hard to keep up with. We both find the classes here challenging & fun, and like that the classes are 1.5 hours, so we feel like we have more time to get into the flow of class compared to 1 hour classes. I would say that if you have a good foundation of the basics, going to the upper level classes should be fine. It can be quite fast-paced, but I enjoy feeling like I got a good session in. My favorite instructors so far are Cynthia, Chaim, and Susan. There's 3 rooms total at this yoga studio so there can be multiple classes happening simultaneously. They offer different daily teas (free) to enjoy before/after your practice. The rooms can get a bit stuffy if it's crowded, and I have yet to see them turn on the A/C, only opening windows and doors...hopefully that changes come summer time. Parking is either street parking on Fair Oaks/small cul-de-sac nearby or you can get a permit for their lot behind the studio. read more

I came first came to Yoga House for PRENATAL yoga when I was preggie with my little boy. it was an amazing experience and one that I wish all expectant others could have. Jill was my favorite instructor. she was so nurturing, very in touch with our growing bellies and all the schisms our bodies go through during this special time. at the time, they had a great offer for new customers, that being something like $50 for 8 classes (sorry, i can't remember the exact offer, but it was a great value), so be sure to ask about specials! after i had exhausted those classes i purchased a series, which, for pregnant customers, did not expire. this is to accommodate those days when you are having a tough time with morning sickness or what-not that just comes with being pregnant. so that's a great plus, that they hear us and are sensitive to those issues. you may also use your unused classes towards POST-PARTUM classes, where you can bring your little one to class with you! aside from these logistics, the space here is beautiful to practice yoga. such a sense of peace and relaxation drifts throughout the studio. it's been awhile, but i'll definitely return to this beautiful place. parking is on State street in front of the studio or in a designated back lot. make sure to print the parking pass and place on your dashboard... it's on their website! read more

I have been attending classes at Yoga House for more than 20 years. I took their 200 hour Teacher Training program in 2018. I loved that the teacher training was spread out over several months with weekend classes that I could schedule my life around. The instructors were so knowledgeable and passionate about yoga, and the training opened me to new aspects of yoga practice that deepened my own practice and changed my focus from always wanting challenging classes, to appreciating the beauty of a precise and slow moving practice. We also learned so much about yoga philosophy in a way that opened a door and tapped my sense of curiosity. Yoga House offers several wonderful workshops that are very affordable. Clueless about levels, they say this is your practice then if you make a modification because you have an injury they are unsupportive, very hypocritical. And boring!!! Inspire me, be supportive, don't turn a level 1-2 class into level 1 Iyengar! I have been practicing at Yoga House for over 15 years. The studios are serene, simple, and beautiful. Farzaneh, the owner, is gifted in her yoga and her spiritual walk -- and it's a blessing she shares it with us practitioners. There is a variety of ages and some racial and ethnic diversity that adds to the positive, uplifting vibe that nurtures the soul. They have so many classes and a different of teachers. It was my first yoga experience and I loved it, I don't remember who our instructor was but she was definitely a hippie. That's how I like my yoga instructors. I visited Yoga House via ClassPass and really enjoyed myself. The space is one of the nicest I've experienced yet. Spacious, inviting, relaxing, and really the open air calm feeling that flows through and between the place really stood out to me. The Beginner 1 class I took, may have been a bit too Beginner for me but it was all so nicely done. Our instructor really made everyone feel so welcome and walked the room making minor adjustments to help everyone really achieve what we were doing in certain stretches. I'd hoped for a bit more of the basics/fundamentals (but maybe I'm a little further along than I think I am). Although there was significantly more amount of movement than a Restorative class I felt this to be an extremely gentle class in comparison to some other Beginning Level 1 classes I've taken recently at other studios. I told my boyfriend he would have liked it, since he doesn't want to do Yoga but likes to relax. I really liked that everything was plain and simple to understand. Going to new places, taking new classes and being brand new to all of this - sometimes the lingo, singing, chanting and direction can really cause frustration which is the last thing I think anyone is trying to induce by attending a yoga class. Our instructor was awesome in, it all just felt real to me and not foreign to the point I was able to participate in everything during class. Since I'm new to Yoga all together, I'm popping around LA studios that I feel are worth me checking out to learn more about the practice. It's definitely something that a person like me can benefit from if I can find the right place, to literally settle down at. If I lived in the neighborhood this would surely be my go-to! Everyone was friendly and it's the type of place where I could see myself spending a lot of time, if I had it or at least visiting on a regular basis. My boyfriend lives nearby so I'm very happy to have discovered Yoga House and definitely plan on stopping in when my schedule allows. I visited Yoga House for the first time yesterday. I was running late, but managed to make it there 5 minutes before the 4PM class started. Traffic on Fair Oaks was horrible at this time of day! Fortunately, I found a parking spot right in front of the place. Whew! The guy at the front desk told me to sign in. He was polite and helpful in the 2 and a half minutes I interacted with him. I scribbled my personal information as quickly as I could, checked the first time visitor box, and then hurried off to class. The classrooms are large and comfy. Temperature was just right. The high ceilings made it feel spacious. The hardwood floors and paper lanterns added charm. They have a stack of mats, blocks, blankets for use. I brought my own mat. Class size is relatively small - I believe there were about a dozen of us. The class I took was "Level 1". I did yoga years ago at the gym, so I have some experience. If you've never done yoga before, it's probably best to take the Beginners class. Most of the people seemed to know what each pose was. The instructor would do a quick demo, then she walked around helping people with getting the alignment right. She was very positive and encouraged people to go at their own pace. This class had a non-judgmental, relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed the class a lot and I felt calmer than I've been in a long time. I liked the fact there was a lot of room to move around, unlike the packed classes at the gym. Afterward, I had a small cup of tea outside, but I couldn't find the apples. Well, it doesn't matter. I'll be back for more yoga at the Yoga House! read more

If you want a good work out and sweat out all the toxic crap you been consuming, this is definitely the place. I had no idea what I was getting into but this yoga place is my most challenging and hardest workout yet. Even more than core power yoga. This is not a heated yoga but feels like it. The instructors are very strict and will call you out for doing the wrong poses with no hesitation. My second time I was there, we had a sub teacher that directly stated she is strict and demands only the right way to pose. I was pretty intimidated and I felt a huge difference in my body. Arms and legs are completely sore even after jogging 3 miles. Seriously, a rewarding feeling once you've gain more strength in your core and upper body. Recently tried this place with a Groupon. The location is about a 20-minute drive (but the suckiest part is the backup on Glenarm and Marengo during rush hour). So far I've tried the Gentle classes. I come to relax after a long day of sitting at the computer and Jill does a wonderful job in accomplishing that. Her voice alone is soothing, but mostly, she is able to keep a flow going between each move. I came out of the class with no more tension in my shoulders. All students are drop-in, meaning there's no need to sign up for classes. You'll just need to sign in at the front desk before you go to your class. The studio is located on an odd corner. I almost missed it the first time I came. There are 2 private lots that students are allowed to park at, but they fill up quickly. I usually go straight for street parking. Be careful of permit parking zones though. There are many residences around this area so street parking is mostly dedicated to them. read more

I have been wanting to try yoga and check out this place for a while, since it is walking distance. Purchased a groupon for me and the cousin (I wasn't about to go alone on this!). We looked at the schedule and decided to try out Susan for our first session on a Sunday. We showed up early, front desk girls were friendly and helpful. I brought my own mat but my cousin didn't. First rental was free and I loved that they gave us some mat wipes with lovely scents! First class with Susan was great. It was packed but she still managed to go around and correct postures and advise on alternatives for yoga newbies like me. Next session was with Jane on a Wednesday (yoga and sound). I didn't know what to expect but I ended loving the class. Been back twice with Susan and three times with Jane. Feeling brave, we tried Rheza's class on a Saturday (level 1 & 2). It was a welcome challenge with soreness the very next day! All the instructors that we had were amazing. I think this will be a new habit of the cousin and I. They also offer hot tea in the waiting area and all possible yoga amenities you can think of. Parking can be challenging, if you choose to drive, but not difficult. Walking is better for us anyway. I love how I feel after loving this place....which is "zen". I am still struggling while learning, but I enjoy every minute of it. read more

Bought an unlimited month's membership off of Groupon and have been enjoying all the classes I've been to so far. I've challenged myself to TRY to make it to 21 classes within the 30 days I have membership there. I'm about 1/2 way done! I've only been able to take the 7:45pm classes and have had a variety of instructors but they have all been great! Classes are smaller than what I am used to but I feel like that's where you can benefit the most because instructors are able to give you more attention when needed. I was referred to this place to take the prenatal yoga. Jill is unbelievably sweet and helpful in getting me situated in the class. There were maybe two times where I could have fallen asleep because it was so peaceful and relaxing. The rest of the day and the following day I always feel so amazing. I began to have some pelvic pressure but once I started taking this class, I no longer have it! This place is clean, the front desk staff is friendly, street parking isn't a problem, for locals you get a free 3 class trial then a starter special after! I'd refer friends to come here! read more

I was highly anticipating going to Yoga House for quite some time now because it seemed like they have highly experienced teachers who would be careful enough to create a safe space for people to practice both physically and emotionally. But I did not like the class that I went to because of the presence of YTT assistants for to the following specific reasons. 1. I was not given advanced notice that there would be YTT assistants present. 2. Although they did have yellow cards for opting out of adjustments, I feel that they should have asked anyway before touching my body parts. To their credit, they did stop after I informed them that I did not want to be adjusted. 3. The floors creaked with 3 people walking around the room---this was really distracting. 4. I felt very uncomfortable during Downward Dog when the male YTT was standing at the back of the room. 5. Just when I was settling into savasana, said YTT assistants were hovering and moving around props. I came in from a very stressful and annoying work day hoping for some relief, but I ended up coming out more distressed. I sincerely hope that they will read this and take it as critical feedback for their future students. The reason why I rated it 2 rather than 1 is that for the most part, I liked the way the teacher taught. I probably would've returned to her class if not for this YTT incident. I also still want to check out the other teachers, but first I will call to ask if there are going to be any YTT assistants around. I also like the variety of Yoga books, props, and clothes for sale. For that alone, I'd go back to Yoga House just for shopping. read more

This is my favorite Yoga Studio. If I could go here all the time, I would. Since I live in Orange County it is hard. The teachers are knowledgeable and patient. They each have a lot of experience and alternatives for those that are either new to yoga or those that can/cannot do a yoga move. The facility also has mats, blocks, blankets, etc...all the equipment you need. There is no need for you to bring your own stuff...unless you want to. read more

Sadly, they lost their main studio during Covid to a recording studio. This place has lost its charm. $26 for a class and SERIOUSLY, you are charging me $2 for a mat on top of that? NO thanks. This is a great yoga studio if you are looking for great prenatal yoga classes! I am currently 6 months pregnant and have tried the prenatal yoga classes taught by Jill (5+ classes), Susan (1 class), and Nancy (1 class). Unfortunately I haven't tried any of their other classes but Jill had suggested that if I'm pregnant and have been doing yoga for awhile, I would classes like Level 1, Level 1-2 that are on the easier side, but won't have too many poses where I have to lie on my back. Jill had warned Gentle would not be good during pregnancy because many of the poses are lying on the back. I want to note that Jill has been a phenomenal prenatal yoga instructor. I started building so much tension in my middle and lower back from sitting at the computer for long periods at a time at work, so I figured prenatal would help. And it definitely did! Well, not after one class. It takes time, and you have to be consistent. Jill's teaching style is very soothing and comforting. She is also very knowledgeable on what poses are beneficial to women at the different stages of their pregnancy. Do be prepared to have a packed class when she is teaching though. Sometimes the mats can be as close as 4 inches away from each other. Nancy has been a good sub when Jill is out. She also has a soothing personality and I've enjoyed many of the poses she's had us do to help build stability strength in our core. On a side note, I love that the yoga studio provides hot tea! Just a little thing I noticed this yoga studio does compared to others around the area. It just makes my body feel so much more refreshed and rejuvenated after doing a yoga session because I get parched after being in the class for over an hour. read more

Every one of her classes is well-crafted with a lot of opportunities to challenge yourself. Jeanne is patient and supportive, and really takes the time to demonstrate proper alignment and focus on small movements that make a huge difference in my practice. I have practiced yoga for over two decades. In my travels, I have practiced at studios all over Southern California and all over the world. I have not found a better studio anywhere. The Yoga House space itself is lovely, feels sacred, and exudes quality and good vibes. The instructors are consistently awesome. The founder/owner goes out of her way to make sure the details are right. The studio is kept fastidiously clean. There are fresh flowers in the lobby. In pre-COVID times, there was complimentary tea. Now that we're getting back to in-studio practice, they diligently screen the practitioners, there is plenty of space to socially distance, and the studio doors are kept open. I feel completely safe here. If you're on the fence about whether to come back or whether to try it for the first time, book an in-studio class. You will be glad you did. read more
