We took the very intensive Bradley Method class in person. It was a great class, but I ended up being 15 days past my due date even though I ate a disgusting amount of dates and drank more raspberry tea than anyone should drink. I walked, I saw a chiropractor twice a week, I did acupuncture, I did spinning babies daily, and everything else Liza recommended. I ended up getting induced and being in labor for 3 days which led to a c section. Trust me I did everything to avoid a c section. When Liza called to ask how it went and I told her, she scolded me for not doing more. That was so upsetting after such a traumatic experience. Also in 8 weeks of 4 hour classes, we never once touched on inductions and all the choices that come with that. I felt completely lost without the help of my doula (who only would come once you are dilated 8 cms), and without the guidance of the birth class. I spent so much time preparing for natural childbirth, that the medical induction and emergency c section that resulted left me feeling lost and unprepared. I wish someone had offered me some guidance for that scenario, and not guilt as though it was my fault for having it happen that way. I recommend her class if you know you will have a natural childbirth (which no one knows- the only thing predictable about birth is how unpredictable it is.) read more

Cannot say enough amazing things about this woman! Her Bradley class has made me feel so empowered and ready to give birth without any fears. And she has remained a constant source of support and wisdom even after my classes have ended. Not to mention, I was laughing the whole time. We actually missed our night classes after they ended -- which I had never heard from anyone before about birthing classes... In general, I'd say my appreciation of yoga is limited to my love of yoga pants. If I'm going to spend an hour "exercising", I'd better leave fatigued and hungry, with sweat dripping down the sides of my face. I guess that's why I'm a runner, not a yogi. UNTIL PREGNANCY. A few weeks ago, my back was hurting so bad I wanted to reach up and pull the baby out myself. The nonstop mid-back pain and raging sciatica sent me scouring the internet for anything that would relieve the discomfort. I stumbled upon Yoga Janda, saw there was a Yelp deal, and took the plunge. And OMG am I glad I did. I've only been to three classes so far, but already my back pain is SIGNIFICANTLY better. And my sciatica? Almost nonexistent. Liza has a great way of making everyone feel super comfortable, even if you're too clumsy or tummy-heavy to perfectly execute the poses. Her class is incredibly calming, and I've learned more than a handful of stretches that I can perform at home when my back starts acting up. Even beyond the physical benefits of the strength work and stretching, I think the hour of time to just relax and connect with my baby has had a positive impact on my stress level. Unless you're a couch potato, this class probably isn't adequate replacement for your regular daily exercise. That said, after taking Liza's class and experiencing the results first hand, I think prenatal yoga is something EVERY doctor should recommend. We had decided to use the Bradley method of birthing to deliver our first child. After getting a recommendation for Liza's class from a friend, we were lucky enough to secure a spot! When we completed the class, we felt so knowledgeable, equipped and confident in our ability to take on natural child birth. We loved learning husband-coached child birth and relaxation techniques to help us through labor. Not to mention, Liza created a fun atmosphere and we developed a pretty neat bond with the others in the class, despite it being a virtual course due to COVID-19. We looked forward to every session! I really enjoyed Liza's prenatal yoga class. She is a positive and wonderful instructor. I was having a fairly smooth pregnancy, but had some hip pain when sleeping on my side continuously. The yoga stretches and exercises helped quite a bit in this regard. Overall, her class was great for relaxation, calming, and light exercise (don't expect this to be an intense workout). I absolutely love Liza! I started her prenatal yoga class when I was 8 weeks pregnant. Now at 37 weeks pregnant, I feel that her class has well prepared me for giving birth. Liza does various positions to help get your baby into optimal position and goes over breathing through discomfort. She also passes out birth wisdom at the end of each class. If you are pregnant in San Diego, you have got to try these prenatal yoga classes! They are way better than just trying to modify other yoga classes for pregnancy. All the moves are centered around preparing your body for natural birth, getting the baby into the right position, and making sure mom's body is as open, flexible, and healthy as possible. The classes are specifically for pregnant ladies, so everyone is on the same page and Liza (the best instructor ever) makes sure to give us all some good birth wisdom at the end of every class. It is awesome! I have been going 3 times per week since 13 weeks pregnant (I am now at 26 weeks and feel great!) and these yoga classes are helping my body stay open, stretched out, and flexible so that keeping my body healthy and ready for birth has been an awesome experience! I got the Yelp deal first, but after going twice immediately bought a package and I am so glad I did. Any time I even started having any back pain or sciatica, these classes helped resolve any tightness or soreness and I always leave class in a happy, optimistic and relaxed state of mind. Plus being around all the other pregnant ladies is great because everyone can share info and tips. The location of the classes was a pleasant surprise too because they are held in North County at a cute baby boutique/birth center (Babies in Bloom) where you can get baby gear and also sign up for other pregnancy/new mom classes and find resources for doulas, breastfeeding support and other stuff. At first I thought I was just going to yoga, but then realized the place is a whole community of pregnancy resources. Took this class because I chose to deliver at babies in bloom in Vista and I could not be more glad that I did. It was so educational and fun as well! I ended up having the smoothest labor I could've imagined and I learned so many useful tips to apply during labor. It helped me recognize my inner goddess and accept each contraction. I could not say enough positive things about Liza, her Bradley Method class and prenatal yoga! It was always my intention to have a natural birth but it wasn't until this class that I received the education I needed to be able to succeed. My husband/coach was on board and I believe that all he learned in this class is helped me bring my daughter into the world the way I had intended. Liza doesn't give you advice, she gives you all the info and tools you need to know what to expect from exercises to medical practices to labor positions and so much more! If it wasn't for Liza and the info she provided I really don't think my birth plan (no plan) prior to the Bradley Method would have worked. Liza's classes are not only fantastic physically but they are just plain good for the soul. It may sound counter-intuitive but you will laugh in these classes and have a great time. Coming from super challenging Vinyasa Flow and Hot Yoga classes to Pre-Natal classes was a bit of a shock to the system but I know that it feels SO good to be back in Yoga (I did nothing the first 3 months other than walking) and I always end up with a smile on my face and some good laughs. The classes are challenging in their own right (at least once you get further along) and just going to a place of guided stretching after being curled up in the fetal position most of the week feels wonderful. I had tried to do some regular yoga classes (good luck finding non-heating classes around here!) with just telling the instructor I was pregnant but it's just not the same as going to a true Pre-Natal class with a qualified instructor (not to mention not being the "odd one out" in the room). Liza is fantastic and you'll laugh with her and at each other in a "we're all in this together" kind of way as you attempt to do yoga with your bellies in the way. There are women there from barely showing to past their due dates - it's quite impressive. I feel SUPER comfortable in class which is very important and really enjoy being in a room full of other women going through what I am; especially since in my daily life I'm on my own in this journey. And don't worry, chances are you won't be the only one sneaking off the bathroom during class! Class ends with a modified pregnancy-safe version of Savasana and some pregnancy/birthing wisdom! I come from South Carlsbad so while I'm not a huge fan of the drive (especially in traffic on Wednesday evenings) it's completely worth it the trip every time. Her prices are extremely reasonable as well which is a nice change from most of the studios in the area. For some reason there just aren't a lot of places in North County that offer Pre-Natal Yoga so I'm VERY happy to have found Liza and Yoga Janda! read more

I took Liza's Bradley Method birthing class, and took her prenatal yoga classes through out my pregnancy. Liza is awesome. She is well versed in all things related to pregnancy, birth and babies and was a great resource to me. She is also just a cool, fun person to be around - so that's nice. I really enjoyed our bradley method classes. They were fun to attend and I learned a ton about what to expect during labor and how to achieve a completely natural (normal) birth (which we were able to do - hooray!). We made some great new friends - other like minded new parents, too. I think the best thing about the bradley class was that I felt very educated and informed. I felt confident that I could ask the right questions of the doctors and nurses, and that I would be empowered to make the right decisions for me and my baby. Sometimes bradley method classes get a bad wrap because some people can become too closed minded to any medical intervention, even though sometimes interventions are necessary. Liza is not like that. She helps you understand what happens in labor and why, and gives you the tools you need to decided what is right for you. I am so happy we took this class and would recommend it to anyone who is hoping for a natural birth. The prenatal yoga classes were great also. They were more challenging than you might expect for a bunch of pregnant women. I think that taking yoga regularly helped me stay strong and flexible during my pregnancy. Plus, I never ever felt as relaxed as I did during shevasanah (sp?) at the end of each class. I looked forward to those few moments of total utter relaxation as soon as the class started. Love Liza and her prenatal yoga. She is a great resource, as she also teaches Bradley Method. The yoga is gentle, so if you're a yogi and expecting something similar, then I wouldn't count on it. It's very beginner and slow-paced, which is nice, especially in 3rd tri. You can request her advice on positions or certain poses to move baby or encourage something in particular (breech presentation, transverse, pelvic pain, etc). She's always happy to stay and chat after class in you're experiencing pain or something you need help with. Def recommend to pregos! read more

Purchased the Yelp deal and attended two prenatal yoga classes for the price of one. I liked it so much that I bought a package after my second class, which is a good deal as well ($75 for 5 classes). I attended yoga classes at my local La Fitness up through my first trimester and that was fine, but now that I'm further along, there is no place I'd feel more comfortable practicing yoga than Yoga Janda. Liza is very welcoming and she definitely knows her pregnant women! I don't have to worry about figuring out the correct way to modify a position because the whole class/instruction is tailored to women who are pregnant. Great way to start a Saturday! read more

I practice regular yoga on a regular basis and now that I am late in my pregnancy (almost 9 months) I have decided I needed something slower paced. This review is only on the prenatal class. I liked the class. It was relaxing and worked the key prenatal areas. It was slow paced from what I am used to, and that is what I needed. Just a word of warning. I purchased the yelp 14 for 30 and this can be applied to two classes. They also have packages for 6, 10, and 15 classes. If you would like to buy one of these packages you can do so at class or on their website but you can not apply the $30 yelp credit to it. So if a package is what you are after then you can just show up and purchase it before or after class. read more

We loved this Bradley Method Childbirth class! We took it in 2013 to prepare for our first child and home birth. If you are pregnant and live in the San Diego Area Yoga Janda is the place to go! I had done just a handful of yoga classes before becoming pregnant. I have a hard time not doing very intense, challenging workouts so I never felt like yoga was for me. After taking Liza's class I not only felt like I had the challenging workout I needed but the much needed stretching that should be done by ALL women during pregnancy. She has always made me feel comfortable in class (being a beginning yogi, I was afraid I would be lost) and I leave class feeling accomplished in so many ways.
