You have to hand it to Gina Garcia - she has put together a Sacramento gem. Every Saturday behind the Rose Garden, or in the Clunie Center during Winter, Gina and Yoga Across America put on one of the most fun yoga sessions in town. Bring a mat and a towel to lay it on, and be ready for a power vinysa flow session. There's nothing like an outdoors yoga class. The fresh air and morning sun combined with the great people and atmosphere makes Yoga in The Park really something special. http://www.facebook.com/YogaAcrossAmerica

I absolutely LOVED it! If you come to Sacramento and want to experience the local scene, I definitely recommend this. At times Sacramento gets a bad rep for being boring (i.e. being called WACKramento). But after doing yoga here, I was reminded that it's the people that make a place special to live. If you have a community, you're golden. And Yoga in the Park fosters that community. I visited Sacramento for the weekend, and my friend (a weekly regular) brought me here. In the winter, yoga takes place inside the Clunie Center in Mckinley Park. (Because Californians can't stand being outside in 60 degree morning weather. With the good year-round weather, we have a skewed perspective of "cold" weather.) Pre-Yoga: - If you drive here, be wary that it can take some time to find street parking. The room is fairly crowded with about 200 people, so you'll be in close proximity of others. Bring your own mat. People are on the floor and on the stage. Mixed crowd with people of all skill levels. Social environment. Incredibly good energy and vibes. During Yoga: - Instructors change each week. Angeline Kang was teaching vinyasa yoga this Saturday, and I loved her light-hearted, fun style. She moved at a good pace (i.e. not laying there in savasana til no ends) and provided different levels of difficulty (i.e. wheel bridge, headstands, etc.). I hadn't done yoga in a while, and it was good to stretch out. You can go at your own pace, and there are other assistant instructors that roam around during class to help out. Post- Yoga: Feel free to donate if you want. Say hi to some people. Go outside into the park (where there are several outdoor bootcamps happening) and enjoy the rest of your day.

Yoga in the Park is amazing! Free yoga taught by some of Sacramento's best yoga instructors. Yoga in the Park is from 9:00 - 10:20(ish) am on Saturday mornings at McKinley Park. In the Spring/Summer it's outside right by the rose garden and in the Winter it's inside the same building as the library. Whether it's your first time or you've been doing yoga for years, you will love yoga in the park. All ages are represented at Yoga in the Park! It's Vinyassa flow (power yoga), so it's a little faster than regular yoga, but you can pick up the flow pretty quickly. There are usually 1-3 assistants who walk around during the class to aid you into the positions or just give you a massage and stretch you out. Bring a yoga mat (they usually have extras in case you forget), a towel (sometimes the grass is wet/muddy), and some water.

This studio offers so many different kinds of classes. There is something for every level of practice. Vanessa is great for educating the poses and always encourages you to try something new. Janna's classes bring the fire and the grounding. Jesse's classes are all fire and fun music. Cate offers a wonderful yin class that has a bit of spice. Alma heals all with her nidra class. This studio is a great community that welcomes all. They even have pay what you can classes. There is plenty of parking close by. There's also showers available if you need. My favorite place!

If you haven't been to Solfire Yoga, it is a nice yoga studio on J and 26th St. with one large ish room. There are cubbies to put your personal items in the front and in the back. If you don't have a yoga mat or forget to bring one, they do have extras for you to borrow. I believe every Sunday they offer this 60 minutes Power Vinyasa class in the heated room using infrared heaters. This is a community offering, which means you pay what you can. The room was packed and I was literally touching the person next to me. The instructor was great. I think her name was Julie? Her instructions was clear and the pace was perfect for me. I don't consider myself a yogi. I know the basics and I was able to follow through without a problem. I think its suitable for beginners. At the end of the class, I was drenched, covered in sweats and felt so good! 5 stars for the instructors, facility and the community offering, but I have to say I will probably not take the same class again. It was way too packed for me, like sardine packed. Also, as soon as I entered the room, there was a strong BO and the smell lingered throughout the entire class. I almost wanted to vomit at one point. I know this has nothing to do with the establishment. I'm mentioning it because I'm hoping people can be more considerate about their hygiene. It just took away what could have been the best yoga class for me.

Found them on ClassPass and knew it was just what the dr ordered. I took the Saturday morning class, Alexiana was the sun and she was fabulous. Everyone that worked there was also stellar! They loaned me a mat and I was off to the races! The place is a whole vibe! I love the entry and the shopping area with cool little products and gifts. I was drawn to the cutest earrings, and literally every time I wear them (and it's a lot, they've become my go to!) someone compliments them and either asks if I made them or where I got them. Every time the earrings come up I think of this place and have a nice little memory. Class was great, got the wiggles out, did some good flows and transitions and built up a little sweat. One of the regulars said it was Alexianas best class. I did note there was no music, which left me in my head more, but it was also an opportunity to work on staying present! I saw there was also another space behind our class and people were taking some kind of training. I also liked the little space between class. Seemed like a spiritual place. I can't say enough good things. Tho I love my yoga studio, I fell in love with this place. I'm glad they're in different cities and parts of the state, or I'd have a tough choice! I would love to take a class outdoors and that's my plan for the summer.
