I've had such a wonderful experience with Lotus Garden. I first started attending Gentle Yoga classes after a softball injury. The injury caused lower back issues and sciatica on the left side of my body. I couldn't walk for a month and a half and had to use a cane for 4-5 months thereafter. Lotus Garden has such a very intimate setting with instructors that are kind, knowledgeable and challenging. They have extra equipment on hand for newbies just learning yoga practices with a $15 drop-in fee. This place healed me and I am so grateful. I am no longer walking with a cane and my body is becoming stronger from the inside out. I now try to go 5 days a week and I'm looking forward to learning how to meditate through their free meditation classes. read more

Lotus Garden is a treasure trove in the Sacramento area! I feel like I've landed in a truly sacred space! Personally, I've studied yoga for about 15 years, primarily on what might be called "ashtanga" (8-fold path), and only recently have encountered a legit school of bhakti yoga. For me, bhakti is just such a direct path to my aims in ashtanga, that it's becoming obvious to me it's a "smart" investment of time. Lotus Garden is as SOLID an atmosphere for yoga as I could have possibly hoped (and honestly, way beyond my hopes!). I don't "push" this stuff, but most people would be wise to come! read more

I am mind blown that this beautiful serene meditation retreat is located in my hometown. My mind has been so chaotic that I've been wanting to wonder into different elements of spirituality. So far, it is only the beginning for me. Thus, meeting my instructor for the first time helped me feel welcomed. He was joyful and kind. I've had a LOT of "likes" on my review as well as people contacting me saying there are unethical, dishonest practices happening on Yelp, to keep this business at a 5 star rating. I'm sure my review will be taken down along with the rest of them after people comment Yelp sees my words. I don't think the point of having a review site is to only post the positive reviews. If somebody has a negative experience it is their right to be able to express their concerns as well. Very disappointing. read more

If you are looking to learn about meditation or want to start attending yoga classes for overall wellbeing- This sanctuary for peace and serenity will have just what you are looking for. The property itself is so beautiful once you get there you may want to hang out by the coy pond underneath the gorgeous trees and enjoy the lovely sounds of the pond. Overall a wonderful place to find peace, relaxation, and connect with community. I highly recommend staying informed as the Lotus Garden hosts alot of different cool events featuring live music and great food! If only there were more places like this I wouldn't have to travel so far..You are lucky to live in Sacramento, because you'er closed to the lotus garden then I am. read more

You would never expect to find this studio tucked away in the suburbs off Lincoln Ave. Driving down the long driveway, you are instantly met with lots of trees and a hushed, serene feeling. The yoga studio itself is to the left of the larger building with exposed wooden beams, a large painted Hindu-inspired mural and carpeted floors. There are lots of blocks, straps, blankets and eye pillows for all. I've only had two of the teachers here, Gena and Harsha. Gena works your core very hard while Harsha is more Hatha style. Both are excellent! The meditation classes are free - they use a method of chanting and counting beads. Located on a large property, this used to be a WWOOF location (it still might be) meaning World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms. If you are a WWOOFer you may want to call ahead first to double check. One small pet peeve - the center has a lot of garage sales, but without the garage sale prices! I find it ironic that the concept of "letting go" is not practiced. read more

I attended my yoga teacher training and certification through Lotus Garden almost 20 years ago. My family and I just moved back to the area and are enjoying the many classes and programs online. We're anxious to attend in person again. I love that the meditation is family-friendly so my 5 and 8 year old can participate and enjoy. Uddhava and staff offer such a great support system and welcoming space for yoga and meditation practice for all ages. It's such a gem in the community - so highly recommended! read more

After trying to learn the proper techniques of meditation , I decided to check out the lotus meditation center . We got lost on our way there, but once you see an entrance filled with tall trees, you've found it! We were there for their evening meditation class but there was another class going on in the building next to the house (yoga). We were greeted by friendly people who showed us around. Many people live on site and we're all very nice and approachable. We were told the meditation class took place upstairs inside the house so we walked up . Upon walking in, we realized that no one was there and it was pretty empty. We asked someone if the class was still happening and the guy we asked literally did everything he could to find out for us. He came back and found us after running around and told us there wasn't enough people to have a class so the instructor left. We were ok with that and just walked around the garden and enjoyed the scenery. The same guy approached us again and said " just called the instructor for you guys. He's coming back to teach a class just for you guys. In the mean time, feel free to walk around and I'll come find you guys when he's here." Wow, this really took me by surprise! Especially since I wasn't expecting anything like that to happen, but it did. The instructor ended up coming to teach my bf and I a meditation class. I forgot his name but he was super nice and mentioned that he his wife is filipino. He even offered to come to our home to teach us more techniques for free. This place and the people there are super accommodating and take the word nice to another level. The instructor didn't have to come back, but he did anyways and it reall meant a lot to us! read more

This place is amazing! It is a hidden gem in Carmichael. Beautiful grounds and peaceful setting. My friend and I visited on a Friday night. We sat through a one and a half hour class and it was so relaxing. After the class we were offered a sweet treat and cup of tea. Both of us were so thankful to find this center! There are so many classes including yoga and meditation. I still want to check out the Sunday evening class and vegetarian dinner. There are also one day retreats and cooking classes. A great place to escape to for some rest and relaxation! read more

This place is amazing! Saw some reviews here and wanted to check them out.....wouldn't you know, they have a Groupon right now......so I had to go. The center is tucked away deep in a residential neighborhood. I was greeted on arrival by the owner, who was very friendly and showed me around the property. There is a lovely meditation center surrounded with koi ponds and a swimming pool. The yoga studio is next door and is lovely. I took a class this morning with Sita, who was great. The whole vibe of this place is a welcoming sanctuary of peace and love. The "home like" atmosphere is immediately inviting. I think I will be returning to this hidden gem often. read more

Lotus garden is my favorite yoga spot in Sacramento. I had to move studios because of a new job, but I will continue to do drop in classes here anyway! The room is big and clean, and the instructors are awesome. I love Gena and Andrea, and Sarah is great in the evenings too. This is the spot if you are looking for a restorative practice that focuses on the breath! I can take my mom there, and yoga newbies are not intimidated or overwhelmed because the staff makes sure they are taken care of. I wish the front room was bigger, but that's not their fault! This place made me a yoga regular when I was in a dry spell for a long time. Thanks for bringing me back to the practice! Love all you ladies. read more

This is a great place to come and do yoga. Very unique - an oasis tucked away from the main street. I thought I knew how to do yoga, but after coming here I learned so much more - how to breath and do the poses correctly. They have different levels for beginners to more advanced, and the teachers are good at helping you to modify poses. Plus, it's less expensive than other studios I've been to. Truth be told, I liked it so much, I now volunteer my time to work here. It's a wonderful studio. read more

This review is a bit overdue, but better late than never. I want to say a big thank you to Lotus Garden Meditation for making your free meditation classes and programs available online since August. During this challenging time of isolation, the meditation practices offered by Lotus Garden have literally saved me and my mind from going down a deep depressing dark hole. They showed me some simple meditation techniques with both breath and beads that I have been using everyday. The meditation gives me a deep inner peace and calmness that I have not felt for a long long time and I am very grateful. The teachers at Lotus garden are all very patient and knowledgeable and they even took the time to send me special meditation beads in the mail! I highly recommend Lotus Garden's meditation classes and programs for anyone looking for some inner peace and happiness. read more

A friend and I used a Groupon deal to try this place out. We both loved it. It's a very pretty and relaxing setting. The instructor that we took was Gena and she was very friendly and helpful. She introduced herself to us and also would greet everyone individually prior to the class starting. Throughout the class she would also come around and help you with your pose if you were struggling. She made sure to get feedback from us in the end as well. I will definitely be going back again. I have tried other places and this one is definitely one of the best. I would recommend anyone who enjoys traditional yoga to go here. read more

This a wonderful studio with a very relaxing, retreat type of feel to it. The yoga classes are a perfect mix of relaxation and challenge and all the instructors are super nice and fun. Odd. Just odd. I initially perceived the group meditation class to be a nice, refreshing place to meditate and to sharpen my meditation skills. I went about 6 times to the Sunday morning class and found it very enjoyable and therapeutic. However, this past Sunday, I had an entirely different experience. There was a different group leader. Instead of focusing on the meditation, she preached. And she preached. And she preached, preached, preached. It came across as a cult trying to recruit members to the Bhakti "faith," and to follow its deity Krishna. It seemed very extreme and fundamentalist. She said things like "Krishna is the real god, and Buddha was just a fake who people modeled after Krishna" and "the only real purpose of humans having sexual relationships is to reproduce." It was awkward and uncomfortable, and a complete waste of my Sunday morning. It may have just been the individual group leader. But the group leader is a direct reflection on the establishment as a whole. I will not be going back. read more

The most beautiful yoga studio I've been to. Lotus Garden is a true getaway from the everyday world. It's located off the street, down a driveway that leads you to a magical setting. The owners converted an old horse farm to a yoga and meditation retreat center. An old barn is now the yoga room, with a beautiful mural and adorned with lots of yogic iconic art. The main building has meditation rooms, which I didn't get to see, but would love to return for a meditation class. The property features waterfalls, koi ponds and lotus gardens. They have a gentle yoga class for seniors, hatha yoga classes, t'ai chi, chi kung, and kirtan. The yoga classes are very reasonably priced - $10/class or a 10-class card for $90. The meditation classes are free. Senior citizens get a discount. They also occassionally have retreats, but go to their web site and sign up for their email list to receive retreat info. If you feel the need to get away, this is a great place for its sanctuary and location. read more

I love this place!! I came in for a meditation class and the instructor greeted me very kindly. She was very generous and gave me a tour of the whole place. They have a pond with huge koi fish and even a swimming pool for recreational uses! The actual class was just the instructor and I. She taught methods of meditation that weren't difficult at all. It was very relaxing. When attending, try and keep an open mind! Their meditation methods are based on Hinduism. It incoperates a lot of breathing and some chanting. It sticks to the basic Hindu principles. It DOES relax you, only if you're open minded and willing to do the exercises! read more

Awesome place! I went for my first time at yoga (that wasn't hot yoga) and the people were fantastic and it was a great experience! My favorite is the monday yin yoga class, but they have a lot of variety and a super chill atmosphere. Tai Chi, free meditation classes, yoga thats priced right, and a little shop next to the yoga studio. Surrounding by beautiful tree's, could ponds with running waterfalls.. One of my favorite places for sure! read more

I went here with a friend to sit in peaceful gardens where we could connect with each other. I haven't been to their yoga and meditation classes but I already love this place because they were so welcoming and the place exudes peace and tranquility. They let you come and sit in the garden or by the koi pond, or even inside on the couches, or upstairs in the meditation area and reading room if you'd like. No one really disturbs you and you can stay (usually I assume) until it starts to get dark. We arrived around 5 and left at about 830 and no one ever bothered us. I also love that there are two cats on the grounds that are really loving and friendly. A great place to get away from the busy city life and do some reflecting. read more

The most amazing oasis tucked away in the suburbs of Carmichael. I love sitting out by the pool with friends on a hot summer day, strolling through the gardens, and coming to all the wonderful events that they host for the community. I have taken yoga classes in many, many studios since and this is still the best. I wanted to try group meditation and this looked like a good resource. It's a lovely and serene location, and the meditation classes are free. There were only two of us in the class, and the leader was a very nice and friendly elderly lady. What's not to like? Well, here's the problem--the meditation is all about being Hindu and worshipping Krishna. Holding chanting beads and singing "Krishna Krishna" over and over again was not my idea of meditation. I've got nothing against this, but nowhere on the website did it explain what this meditation class is all about. I think most people looking for a mainstream group meditation class will be very surprised, and perhaps a bit disappointed like me. Although I won't be returning, I wish them the best...but I also wish they would disclose their mission a bit more completely. read more

A true resting place for the body, mind and soul. The property is out of this world! It is easy to forget about life's nagging details once you cross the treshold into the Lotus Garden. Traquility is immediately within reach even before stepping into the yoga studio. The studio is very condusive for yoga and relaxation as well as being beautifully decorated. The instructors are among the best I have ever had. I wish I could go there everyday. They offer a wonderful selection of classes ranging from yoga, tai chi, meditation and more. I highly reccomend checking this place out. People are always welcome, whether you are taking a class or taking a deep breath and resting in the beautiful surroundings it is a wonderful experience.
