Spacious and inviting studio to practice yoga in. Occasional issues with the temperature control in the room - sometimes overly warm, sometimes not warm enough. Yes the front desk staff can seem a little "detached" but I don't think they intend to be rude - it's a busy place especially on weekend mornings with many classes going on. Parking lot can be a little crazy, grateful that I'm close enough to walk. Over the years I've found teachers whose classes I really enjoy and others less so. If you're new to the studio I recommend trying out a bunch of different classes and seeing what works best for you. read more

I've been looking around for a while to find a yoga place that I could feel relaxed in and an instructor that I click with. I took my first class last Friday and loved it! I have had nothing but positive experiences at Yoga Sakti. I've been going there since they opened, and the first thing I noticed was how quickly everyone at the front desk knew my name when I came in. I have never experienced bad customer service as some others have stated. I have been practicing yoga for about 8 years and really love the teachers I practice with. I'd always get nervous when I saw a substitute teacher's name on the schedule, but every time that happened at Sakti, after class I thought, "Well, there's a new teacher to add to my list of favorites". They really know how to pick 'em! This studio offers way more than just yoga, too...TRX, spin, kickboxing, barre (which I just started doing and LOVE it! I hope they'll add more classes during the week - it's a great workout), as well as multiple health services (acupuncture and massage, just to name two). If you can't find a class/service that you love here, you won't find one anywhere. There are always specials and sales going on, and they're always adding new classes and workshops to the schedule to accommodate clients' busy lives. The studio is clean and well kept. The yoga room is big and welcoming. The locker room is very nice, too. I honestly only have positive things to say about this studio. read more

Yoga Sakti is a great exercise studio in Salem-- very, very close to Beverly. They have showers with soap and towels available for use-- perfect for before work exercise. I have taken spin, "build and burn", and yoga classes. My favorite by far is the build and burn class. You can make it as easy or as hard as you want--It's a mix of strength training and cardio circuits. I wish there was filtered water available to refill my water bottle. That's my only and main complaint. Everything else is wonderful. They offer some spa services as well! read more

Ashley S below has a fairly spot-on review of Yoga Sakti. The building itself is beautiful- clean, large, well-taken care of, nice finishes, skylights, showers, etc. The teachers are friendly, experienced and enthusiastic. I didn't find it as welcoming for newcomers (though I'm not a beginner, so it might be more friendly towards newcomers if they start in beginner classes and move up) though. My first time there, I wasn't given any pointers about where to go (I didn't even know they HAD a locker room!) or what their policies were, where to wait, studio was etc. And again, like Ashley S., I found it weird that vinyasa classes actually stop repeatedly through the class. There are no long flowing sequences, but just practicing one pose on one side then the other, with alignment cues from the teacher. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just not what I'm used to or prefer. The hot power classes that I've taken so far are more flowing (and also much hotter!). I am also not used to the clapping for teachers and students after performing hard poses and/or finishing class and only some teachers OM before and/or after class. Students chat before (which is fine!) and sometimes DURING class, as well, which is off-putting. I am still fairly new to the studio and trying out all of the yoga class types (the do have a lot of variety!- not to mention Barre, circuit training, TRX and spinning) and teachers, and I'm looking forward to it! However, I think it will take me a bit to get out of my comfort zone and also integrate myself in to the community there. Class pricing is fairly average for yoga/group fitness classes. read more

Ok seriously, do these people answer the phone???? EVER?????? I bought a Groupon after reading the reviews of their facility. The Groupon requires registration however, and the instructions direct you to call them directly to register for classes. I have literally called at least twice a day for I don't know how many days, and I always get voicemail. I've even gone to their website and sent an email requesting directions as to how to speak with someone, and I've received no response. There is something seriously wrong with a business that requires potential customers to drive to their facility just to have some questions answered because they refuse to answer the phone. I have been attending this studio since shortly after it opened. It was a welcoming place to practice yoga and explore othrr fitness classes. Over time it has evolved into the type of yoga studio that uses words like " experienced" or "advanced" in relation to who should take a class. This goes against every principle of true yoga teaching. It has also become the type of studio that is endlessly posting quotes from other sites on it's FB page. Often their posts on FB are pictures of people in difficult poses. They are falling into the trap of yoga as fitness trend. The fitness side of the studio has many good classes. However their is a very distinct feeling of "cliquiness" to fitness classes. There was a new manager put in place who the staff openly talks about disliking. Desk staff seems to constantly turn over and are often unpleasant. I plan to let my membership run out and not renew. The changes have made this studio go from what was a comfortable community to a one that is being run like a cookie cutter chain studio. read more

I had been looking for a yoga studio to further my practice so when Groupon offered a discounted package for Yoga Sakti I purchased it, having heard good things about the place. I have taken yoga classes before, but I am not advanced so I thought the evening Vinyasa class would be a good start. Nope. The brochure says the vinyasa class is in a 75 degree room, what they neglect to mention (and which I didn't notice when I signed up for the class) is that nearly every evening class (the only ones I can attend with work) follow immediately after a hot yoga class. The result? My 75 degree vinyasa yoga felt and smelled very much like a hot yoga class, in the 30 minutes I stayed in the class, it had not cooled off and it smelled like a gym. I have never walked out a class before, but after 30 minutes I'd had enough and left. I don't know why the studio would schedule anything other than hot yoga after a hot yoga class because that room needs to be thoroughly aired out. As for the actual class itself (what I stayed for) even that was disappointing. Every yoga class I've attended up to this point has treated yoga as both a work out and a spiritual practice, but at yoga sakti the spiritual side seems to be sorely lacking. Everything about the studio felt like a gym, which for me diminishes the spiritual side of yoga into naught. I will not be returning to use the remainder of my groupon, nor will I be recommending this studio to anyone. read more

This studio is one of the best things to happen to me since moving to Salem. They offer such an array of classes which are all easy to sign up for online. The other great part is they offer classes all day (starting 5:30am and last one starting at 7:30pm) which is necessary for my busy schedule. The instructors are top notch, the studio is gorgeous, and I honestly can't say enough good things. I've thought about moving closer to my job but one thing keeping me in Salem is this studio. All the instructors are amazing, but I especially love Kat, Tabatha, and Jennifer Craig. I'll be coming to this studio for a long time. read more

I have been coming to this studio regularly for two years to spin, TRX, barre, and kickboxing classes. Before that, I came on and off to do yoga. LOVE this studio and the instructors. Classes are small and that makes them feel like you are almost working out with a personal trainer. If you want to be challenged and want to experience physical transformation take Alison Blake's classes. Tabatha Keating's kickboxing class is another favorite for the same reason as well as Laura Goldstein's sculpt and tone class. Just naming a few classes and instructors, but all classes and instructors are top notch. read more

I fell as though I belong there. The prices are reasonable and I have never seen such great customer service. I actually try different classes now because the atmosphere is so welcoming. I have been taking yoga classes at Yoga Sakti for a year and a half. I couldn't be happier with the beautiful studio, the teachers and my classmates. It is a breath-takingly beautiful studio that helps me feel centered and calm. I always leave feeling at peace and that I have had an amazing work out as well. I have worked out in gyms all my life and love to work out hard. With yoga one also stays in touch with one's body and breathing and yet it's a totally different experience. It's never an easy work out, as I first thought it would be. There is always a huge challenge with yoga as you strive for form, breathing, moving energy, and that body-mind connection. Elitist. Unhelpful. Judgmental. Atrocious. Terrible Customer Service. Rude. Unkempt. These are all words/phrases that come to mind when I think of Yoga Sakti. There are a couple of really good teachers there, but if you are looking for a studio that will embrace you, appreciate you, encourage you and care about you this is not the place to come. It is shocking, because it is such a beautiful space, but it's incredibly disappointing once you start to invest your time into trying to foster relationships with the staff. It's quite sad as this is the first ever fitness studio that I have ever gone to in my life where I went home crying because I was so saddened by the way I had been treated and the way that they approach the wellness business. I would highly recommend not wasting your money here. read more

I really enjoy coming to this studio. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for here. Beautiful locker room, a huge variety of yoga and fitness classes (at convenient times), and very professional and inspiring instructors. My favorite yoga teacher here is Anna Kathryn Carlson. She has such a creative way of teaching her class, everything from the music to her thoughtful instructions are wonderful. She's also great with helping those who are new to yoga without making you feel singled out or embarrassed. She is a sweet heart. If you want a fitness class that will really whip your butt into shape and you're up for the challenge-take Heather Tharpe's Barre Sculpt class. It is BY FAR the most fun I've ever had working out. She is high energy, very funny, and unbelievably talented at what she does. Can't recommend these two instructors enough! I've tried other studios in the area and none compare to the experience I've had here at Yoga Sakti. I'm the type of person who isn't self-motivated when it comes to working out and I absolutely hate "the gym." I never thought I'd enjoy working out but the classes here have really changed my attitude and my life! Give them a try, you won't regret it. read more

This studio is the best thing to happen to me in a long time. I am about the beginnerest beginner there is and a senior citizen still working full-time. From the very first class I attended with the introductory $49 special, I have been treated with the utmost respect and attention for my limitations. Over the last few weeks I have progressed greatly, taking four or five classes each week. During one class with Marc he was very helpful and made sure I was not overdoing it and even showed me ways to do certain poses with modifications. This has become my new way of life, planning my free time around the available classes. The teachers, especially Heather and Ellen, are wonderful and make you feel as important as a student who can stand on her/his head. The studio is spotless and customer service has always been outstanding. I very rarely write reviews but felt that Yoga Sakti deserved the best possible. read more
