I just love Megan! Over the passed years I have had many massages. I have slight scoliosis and have been in a car accident earlier this year. Megan has been so helpful in relieving my pain, helping me sleep better and not only that, she gives advise for your diet and exercise. Because of Megan my overall health improved. I have also enjoyed her yoga classes. I would highly recommend Megan's classes and massages (hence me writing this review). I also tell all my friends to go see her. Yoga with Megan in an authentic experience. There's no bells and whistles, just pure, true yoga. Her classes concentrate on the connection between mind and body, and include both asana practise and meditation. I have been to many different yoga teachers over the years, but Megan's classes are the first where I've actually been able to connect my mind and body. Rather than focusing on the external, pushing our bodies into weird and wonderful poses, Megan asks you to slow down and look inside. I spent 10 weeks working with Megan both in her classes and in private yoga therapy. With her guidance I have developed a yoga practice that has enabled me to experience peaceful silence rather than constant noise in my mind. My body feels great, my mind even better. I recommend Megan's classes for anyone who is looking for a genuine yoga experience with a teacher who is knowledgeable, intelligent,  kind, and fun. I've had several massages, meditation sessions and yoga lessons with Megan. All have been amazing. I come away feeling refreshed, calm and relaxed. The massage sessions always work on my body and my mind and I can feel the physical and mental benefits for days afterwards. I struggle to meditate and give myself time yet the sessions I did with Megan helped me massively and also the realistic tools you can take away with you to incorporate them into your life were very beneficial too. I started taking Yoga classes 2 years ago to improve my health and build strength. I'm not flexible by nature, so I felt very self-conscious at first and kept comparing myself to other people in class. I didn't think Yoga was for me at all. Then I stumbled into one of Megan's classes. She was so laid-back and welcoming. She wore jeans and didn't use a mat. I loved that. She made sure to learn my name and helped me feel comfortable doing the poses. She told me that I didn't have to do anything that didn't feel right for me. At the beginning of each class she would do a brief check-in with each student, asking them how their body's felt and to observe the state of their minds. From there, she would customize her teachings as it applied to her students. If some people had low back pain and some had shoulder tension, she would build a seamless practice that addressed everyone's needs. I primarily went to Megan's classes because I felt like my body was transforming from the attention I was receiving with her. Not only was I getting stronger, but I started feeling more confident and no longer compared myself to others. When I started taking classes I was battling anxiety and depression. I had no idea that Yoga would also help with my mental and emotional state. I started sleeping through the night and had more energy in the day. I wasn't sluggish anymore and I felt more present. At first, I couldn't sit still in meditation for longer than 3 minutes. Now, after much practice, I can sit in silence for 30 minutes. As a result, I have less racing thoughts and feel more certain in the uncertainty of life. I used to think Yoga was just exercise. Megan showed me that Yoga is a way of living. I saw her peace and wanted what she had. I learned that it takes practice and self-inquiry. It was very hard to be patient and terrifying to look inward. But Megan taught me how to notice my patterns, both physical and emotional, and to be compassionate with myself. The idea wasn't to scold myself for making mistakes, but rather learn from them and let them go. Now, if I notice something that I want to change in myself, I feel comfortable asking her for guidance. She always gives her full attention and uses her own experiences as examples for growth. I moved to PB in August. Eager to find the right fit in a Yoga teacher. serendipity led me to meet Megan Doyle Corcoran. In a town of "young immortals" i hoped i could find a slower meditative teacher. Bingo or should i say Shaktipa! Megan is an extraordinary Yoga teacher and Masseuse. Her classes include old farts like me and young and lithe beauties. What is most remarkable about Megan's teaching is her acute sense of the principle of Union,breath and body awareness. I have been doing yoga off and on since 1972. (yes I am that old.) and she makes the real principles of yoga accessible. Her teaching is poetic without being pretentious. Example; the other day in Mountain pose she instructed " if you pay attention, standing is a concert of movements." Her skill with words is no surprise since she is also a published writer of fiction and non fiction . She also has done a stint in her short life as a lawyer for the needy. She is an elegant beauty schooled in Patanjali and Ayurveda with a great sense of humor. She is always involved in advanced training herself. There is not enough of her type of yoga but as the Yoga generation ages and serious seekers develop a spiritual as well as physical practice we will need more Megans. Megan, wow...brilliant, patient, caring, and masterful. It matters not what you are searching for when it comes to yoga with Megan, as she will extract from you, what YOU require for healing, comfort, spiritual attainment, meditation mastery, or aligning yourself with the whole of this existence. I have learned so much about myself through her guidance. I knew what I thought yoga was before I ran into her, but I knew nothing. I challenge anyone to find a better guide or energy worker. This gift of a person is connected with the driving force that moves us all in a way I have not experienced. If you're looking to really understand and experience Yoga beyond the "fun" Vinyasa-Flow and Power-Core-Yoga etc., go see Megan. I moved to San Diego in 2014 and I found it hard to find an intelligent, mindful and yet challenging class - until I found myself in one of Megan's classes. Megan is highly trained and I found her understanding of body, mind and soul rather exceptional - and I am saying this as a (very picky) former dancer who has experienced a lot of body work, teachers and therapists. In her private yoga lessons, Megan provides you with a "toolbox" of exercises and thoughts on Yoga that are fit to your own needs, strengths and weak points. Yoga has gradually become a good and reliable friend to me and I owe this to Megan, her gentle but consistent tapping on the back when I was not so motivated, her dedication and knowledge and last but not least - her wonderful sense of humor! In a nutshell, Megan helps you to learn to help yourself. Now that I'm back in Europe, I can still live on the things she has taught me. My life in San Diego was a bit of an up and down, on both the emotional and somatic level. Megan definitely was responsible for the ups. I highly recommend working with Megan - I have experienced both massage and yoga and seriously love her work. Megan is experienced, caring and focused. I love the fact that I can enjoy her work without feeling too self conscious; especially with yoga - She has that gift of being really good at what she does while making you feel relaxed. She is thoughtful, insightful and funny! Definitely worth checking out her restorative yoga and her 90 minute massage. My chronic back and back pain feel significantly better. I also really enjoy her Reiki at the beginning and end of the massage. This is the first yoga teacher I have returned to and am working with long term.
