It's not particularly spiritual, which in a way makes it more accessible, but even a cynic like myself will admit that it really is positive energy. Olivia is great at helping us adjust our poses so we get the most out of our practice, with consideration for injuries (or things like weak wrists) and different abilities! In my experience, each class is only as difficult as each of us is just capable of pushing ourselves because she always has recommendations for adapting the poses, up or down, to our own levels. My back is no longer achy like it used to be before I started yoga-- rather than get regular chair massages I now regularly do yoga. I get a much better value for my time and money strengthening and stretching my back, legs, and supporting muscles through PEY. I started as a beginner, and it is really rewarding to feel myself getting stronger and more flexible, suddenly doing poses I hadn't previously been able to do. I also love Olivia's DVD. I even got S to start doing it with me, and he loves it too. (Though it is better in person.) ' Positive Energy' is really the perfect name for what Olivia is and does.

All are recorded so if something comes up and you have to miss, you get the recording. The sessions are very relaxing and have allowed me to take what I learn and use it at any time. Meditation does not have to be confusing and learning different chants (like I imagined). Beth guides us through relaxing classes to focus on different breathing techniques. You will leave calmer and more relaxed.

I have been taking the Wednesday class off and on as my schedule allows for a few years now. The community that Beth has created is a big part of it for me! Theoretically, I could meditate or do a guided meditation on my own but it is not the same. Not only does the community connection before and after the class enhance the experience but Beth asks us to set intentions before class and magically works them all in to the guided meditation. The recordings of the class are just an added bonus for weeks that just feel too long between classed! Beth is a very gifted teacher and I am so grateful that her gifts continue to impact my life in the virtual setting! Oh and, just like most things in life, I get way more out of the practice when I do it regularly so this is a good reminder for me to sign up for class this week! :)

She is very knowledgeable and extremely eager to share her practice with all levels of experience. I am fairly new in my yoga journey but I am ecstatic that I picked it up again under her guidance. She has such a soothing voice and makes every transition enjoyable; even if I'm struggling perform the desired pose. Also, she's has an assortment of playlists that fit your every mood and intentions for your current session. Luckily, Tricia helped me modify certain poses to support my current ability level and made it a really positive experience for me. I have had a life long aversion to Yoga - from the days of watching my mom do her yoga routines to…read morethe mushrooming of Yoga in to multitudes of flavors and being the cool thing to do. Also, bending and stretching my body in to multiple scary looking poses was not my idea of relaxing/workout/finding my inner self/ etc. But having been learned and practiced yoga with Gaurav has completely changed that for me. He is the epitome of what a true yoga instructor/guru should be. He help me confront my prejudices/ fears of yoga with a calm and balanced approach by gently introducing me to the various poses and breathing techniques! He was aware of my limitations and worked with that so that I gradually became comfortable with all the breathing exercises and asanas without heading to the door! Not to say that I did not feel the physical pains of using my body and muscle groups in new ways, but the "high" at the end of each session was worth the effort. I looked forward to my next session at the end of each session! Gaurav is well versed in all the techniques and shares his knowledge in easy to follow steps. I highly recommend him as an instructor especially if you have never done yoga before or are not sure on what the correct techniques are. During my sessions with him, he taught me how to do the yoga postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayamas). He created a meal plan for me and made suggestions on healthy foods that I could eat on a daily basis, as well as when I ate outside. He is motivating and encouraging. The combination of the heat and the targeted spine strengthening series has made a huge difference in alleviating pain and building back strength. I've attended three bikram studios in the DMV area and Reston Yoga is my favorite. The instructors mentioned in previous negative reviews do not teach here anymore. The studio is cheery and clean and the staff, instructors, and students are very friendly. Particular shoutout to Yun and Julie for their calm but motivating teaching style and for being so welcoming when I brought my partner to try a class! Tip for first class - attend an Original class (and hydrate a lot!) Request - Please add more weekday morning options (60 min or a 6-7:30). I loved the 7am pop-up class last Friday! The evening classes can be challenging to fit with work schedules. I appreciate the mix of original and limited instruction classes; please continue to offer both!

I shared that I've practiced hot yoga many times at CorePower Yoga, but he immediately shut that down by saying they're "not the same." After actually taking the class, I don't agree, between the temperature, humidity, and sequence of movements, it felt very similar. The dismissive response rubbed me the wrong way and honestly made me less excited going into what was supposed to be my first 60-minute class with him. The studio itself also felt pretty old and dingy. It doesn't have the modern, clean, welcoming feel that I'm used to at CorePower. Overall, it seemed to cater more toward an older crowd and a very traditional, no-frills hot yoga style. Personally, I missed the motivating and encouraging energy from instructors, as well as the music and upbeat atmosphere that make classes feel more engaging for me. This studio might work well for people who prefer a very classic, straightforward hot yoga experience, but it just wasn't the right fit for me.
