I looked at the person in the chair and realized that my wait was going to be awhile . I didn't say a word but walked out . I don't know if they have so much business that the loss of a local client is unimportant, or perhaps a case of age discrimination. I am over 65 but not invisible.

This salon is easily $100-$125 more expensive just because of the area it's in, keep that in mind. Overall, I would give my hair a 6 out of 10 and my experience a 4 out of 10. I got a partial "balayage" and hair cut, and at this point I know that some salons don't do actual hair painting, it's basically sporadically placed color, and while the color itself is fine, I don't anticipate this growing out as well as it has other times I've gotten my hair done - I can tell because I've been getting my hair done for 20+ years at this point so that's a little unfortunate. But aside from this, I would have appreciated if she let me know she was charging me for more color - other salons haven't done this as often, but they do let me know when they do. Even with full "balayage" at other places, I haven't always been charged for more color so this was unexpected. Even if she just gave me a heads up though, I would have appreciated it. The haircut was very basic and simple even though I asked for long layers. The blow dry was also "okay" - I ended up going home and adding more volume into it myself. Most importantly though - the stylist was not engaging at all. I'm a new customer, she didn't ask anything about me. Made no effort to put in conversation with me. It is so unlike any experience I've had at a hair salon. I even asked her questions to get the ball rolling and there was barely anything back. 3-4 hours in a salon chair is a long time for such lack of conversation, it's very disappointing. Like I said - my experience wasn't "bad" or "horrible" but I am not going back and I would not recommend the salon.

This was my first visit and it will definitely not be my last. Ashley's years of color expertise and careful listening skills left me with the most gorgeous hair I have had in years. The salon is small and private and looks out upon a beautiful courtyard with orchids and other lovely plants. Because it is a small salon there is no noise or chitter chatter going on in the background from other stylists or customers which led to a very calm and relaxing experience. Locals are the best bet for that info and that's how we found Capelli. Annette runs her shop located in the Baryard area of Carmel. One woman show but her site is fairly large- I guess she decided working alone was easier- a lot of "artists" seem to do this. She spends a lot of time trying to understand what's working what's not with your hair. She has definite opinions about what's going on-- too long, too short in areas etc. she will do whatever you want but will try and guide you to a better look. I like that as I tend to go for a longer look. I'm very satisfied and like the look I get. I may be stereotyping but almost all the women I've had cut my hair over time don't spend much time on the "finishing" touches-- trimming sides and eyebrows with a final touch- I think it's because they don't do that for women. Just an FYI and if it's important to you just ask.
