If you value your time this is not the place for you . When I called for an appointment the stylist dictated the day and time . No problem for me I could make it work . I arrived at 3:55 for my 4:00 appointment , only to be told by the stylist that she was running late and I would have to come back at 4:30 or that I could come back the following day . I couldn't come back the next day so I didn't have much choice . I returned at 4:30 only to be informed by the stylist that I would have to continue to wait . I looked at the person in the chair and realized that my wait was going to be awhile . I didn't say a word but walked out . I don't know if they have so much business that the loss of a local client is unimportant, or perhaps a case of age discrimination. I am over 65 but not invisible. read more

Not sure why no reviews of late but I love this place and the owner and her team are great. Moved down here and had a tough time finding my lane in the hair salon department. Had a great stylist but she moved to TN. Then found another who wanted to cut but not color and vice versa so for a while went to both. The woman who was doing the coloring thrashed my hair. I got tired of two services anyway. Found another salon and the chemistry was so-so. Found my tribe - great service, wonderful products, price is fair for services provided. Then yesterday afternoon I had to go to the ER at CHOMP after a bad fall where I had massive bruising on my lower right leg and foot, and it was very swollen. I visited Carmel for a wedding. Needed a simple updo. Had no idea where to go. I blindly chose O Salon because it was close to where I was staying and had good Yelp reviews. I couldn't have been happier! The salon and staff are absolutely lovely! So big, bright, clean & professional. I knew immediately I was in very good hands. The stylist swept my hair into shape in 30 minutes! (I'm sorry ...wish I remembered the stylist name) I left ahead of schedule with a lovely updo. I highly recommend O Salon. Lucky to get an appointment while on vacation. However, the stylist left something to be desired and the prices were very high.

First off, this review is LONG overdue. O Salon made such a lasting impression that even after almost 2 years I'm still inclined to write this review and send my gratitude. My husband and I eloped in Big Sur, California and the day before our wedding I was scurrying around Carmel looking for a last minute salon to do my hair & make up. After checking a few places that either had no availability, were too expensive or just didn't have the best vibes, I finally found O Salon who met all my needs. A beautiful inviting space with matching warm smiles from all the staff. The manager, Niki greeted us right away and was so sweet! She put my anxiety at ease, reassuring me they could fit me in and do an amazing job. Natalie was my hair stylist and she was an angel. So easy going and a joy to talk to. She made the experience enjoyable and stress free. And not to mention she made my hair look amazing with a loose boho updo, and even added a couple clip in extensions I brought with me. Making it look so natural and full. Lulu did my makeup and gave me the perfect natural look, with eyelashes that I felt I could fly away with. I was hesitant to have my makeup done because I'm not used to applying a lot and I didn't want it to look heavy and unnatural. But LuLu's attention to detail was beyond expectations and she gave me way more than what I had envisioned. A true artist! Thank you O Salon! Can't wait to visit again. When I called O Salon I explained that I had gotten a bad choppy haircut. I asked the receptionist who could work with my thin, fine hair texture. I was told that the stylist Luz had 30 years experience so I felt hopeful. What I ended up with was an awful, short and extremely over texturized cut that hurt my scalp! I looked like Chucky! Luz put a bunch of product and tried to disguise how bad it was. I had to ask my mother to personally go to the salon because nobody would return my calls. The owner Patti claims to be the best hair cutter in the entire peninsula, yet she has done nothing but blame me for this disaster! She was upset that I've had to reschedule but it has taken 4 months for me to even have enough hair to cut without looking like I was headed for the Marine Corps. She offered to split the $95 I paid. R U kidding???? Wtf! That was so insulting I couldn't believe it!! If she is that money hungry she can keep it! Even the $120 I paid will not get my hair back. On 4/9 I got a great hair cut by Mimi. I was scared because it was supposed to be Druewrie (sp?). But when I arrived it was changed to the newly relocated woman who was nervous, but I love the cut. I am not one to leave reviews but this sure deserves one. After looking at previous reviews, I noticed many customers experienced the same thing I did from the same stylists. In September I made an appointment to get a partial balayage (just a touch up) and cut a couple inches off my hair. I was taken care of by a young and friendly stylist named Kasey. I was very excited to get my hair done and was recommended to this salon by my mom who had been going there for years. It was discussed that as they didn't have a lot of time during my appointment, I would only get a few strands touched up for my balayage and just do my cut, which I was fine with. As the appointment went on Kasey was trying to figure out what my hair needed and took it upon herself to add a gloss to my hair. I didn't know what a gloss was (I thought it was to make your hair glossier and shinier, turns out it's to blend the color). She never asked me if I wanted a gloss, she just did it without asking. Then she said she didn't have enough time to cut my hair herself so she had Kate help dry my hair and cut it. I was very stressed during the cutting part because Kate didn't seem sure of what she was doing, kept asking me questions about how I wanted my cut which made me think she didn't understand what I wanted at all, and just didn't seem confident in the process whatsoever. Once my hair was dried, I realized my balayage had been toned down to a brown instead of a honey blonde like I had showed Kasey. It looked pretty but was certainly not what I had asked for. Least to say, I was not very happy and relaxed once the process was completed. Then came time to pay... Kasey started adding up the prices of everything, charging me $170 for a touch up/partial balayage (I can only imagine the price of a full balayage), $80 for the cut, and $80 for the gloss, for a total over $330 with tax. I was so in shock I didn't dare say anything... After years of working in the food/customer service industry, I didn't want to leave her without anything so I still tipped her 15% (silly me... smh) for a total of $408! I walked out disappointed, dissatisfied with my hair color, and in absolute shock at the ridiculous amount I had just spend on something I didn't even like. After seeing my mom that day and explaining the situation, she was in disbelief as well. She knew the owner Patty so she offered to call her for me. During their call, Patty proceeded to explain that her prices were completely reasonable for the area and that they didn't do sloppy work (almost insulting my tastes talking about what I had requested). My mom explained multiple times that I had never agreed to the gloss and that the color was not what I requested. To that, Patty and Kasey responded that I had clearly agreed to it and that's why they did it, restating that it was necessary for their work not to be sloppy anyways. This is when I found out that a gloss if used to tone down the color and blend it, making it exactly what I didn't want! After a long phone conversation (over 30 minutes), Patty agreed to refund me 15% of what I had paid, which is the amount of the tip I left Kasey. I told her that I would rather get a refund for the gloss that I never requested and truly had a problem with (the money she would be keeping), but she said no and requested that I come in to do a refund in person the next day. When I went there the next day with my mom, Kasey acted like nothing was wrong and she had no idea why I came to get a refund. She went to get a manager/stylist who could issue a refund. My mom's usual stylist Nikki came to get me a refund and all but refused to look at us or talk to us. Once the refund was completed, we left and got in the car as Kasey, Nikki and Patty stared at us through the window. Bottom line is: you might not do sloppy work but you sure have sloppy customer service skills and a sloppy attitude. Patty would rather keep money for herself than to give her stylist the tip she earned or rectify a mistake that was made. O Salon lost 2 clients for sure!! read more

I had scheduled a hair appointment the day before my wedding and I was expecting to see my usually hairstylist. When I got there I was told that she no longer worked there, that she had some family issues and did not want to work anymore. I thought that was really odd and I was a little irritated that they hadn't called me to tell me I was going to see another stylist. The girl that they set me up with was young and wasn't really friendly. She showed me a bunch of color samples and I chose to get some lighter brown (my hair is black) shades throughout my hair and a angled hair cut. It took her 15 minutes to mix up the color (I'm assuming it was color). She came back and put foil in my hair. after about 40 minutes she took off the foil and then told me she was pulling in a glaze because they ran out of the color I wanted. Ummm WHAT? I put on my glasses and saw that I had platium blonde streaks through my hair (so it was pretty much fried). She told me not to worry because the glaze would cover it. (GEE.. THANKS). She puts the glaze in and after about 10 minutes hanging over the sink with glaze (my neck was hurting) I got to see the finished product. I had bright fire-engine red streaks throughout my hair. I looked like some sad EMO or goth chick because of my jet black hair and the BRIGHT red. I could have been Emily Strange. Of course I freaked out and told her "I'm getting MARRIED tomorrow, not going to a goth concert!!!" She said "this isn't what you wanted?" She goes to the back with the owner (I'm assuming the other lady was the salon owner) and they both came back with the hair color samples. The owner said "Isn't this the color you picked out??" "Uh, no, I picked a brown color.." So it took them another 40 minutes to take the color out, and then put a darker brown in. She cut my hair super fast and didn't really do what I wanted. After all that, they charged me for the foil, 2 glazes (the red and then the color to fix it) and the haircut. The total was $215 dollars. My hair looked okay... just okay.. and I'm sorry, with the amount of money I paid I should have looked and felt fabulous. OH, and I just found out that they lied about my hairstylist. She quit working there (maybe because they are all jerks there) and now works at Spa on the Plaza. read more

We were at the Crossroads in Carmel, stepped into the "O" Salon to look at their products. It was a fortunate moment because the owner, Patty, was close by and offered her help. She was very lovely and most caring. One of her right-arms, Kennedy, was nearby and offered her expertise as well. After all, each head of hair is different. My husband and I made our purchase and left but couldn't help feeling that we had just been in the presence of someone genuinely conscientious, sincere. I went to the other side where O Salon did nails and makeup. I got lucky and they had an opening for walk-in pedicure. I loved how they use plastic throwaway containers for your water soak instead of filling the water basin. Very clean and beautiful facility. The staff were super professional and pretty ladies. The chairs are not their typical roller massage chairs, but they give a nice vibration to the body (no neck or shoulders). I felt very calm and peaceful there. There was only me and another customer there with her child, who played quietly on the couch by the front desk. They use the best products (Zoya polish, high quality lotions and scrubs) so I expected the high price of $57 for a basic french pedicure. The lady took her time and made sure she clipped skin off my poor bunion. She took care of my small bit of ingrown nails too. I felt pampered, and since it was my birthday, I didn't mind the price. They also let my husband sit in the massage chair while he waited for me. He loved it of course. All in all, a great experience and when I come vacation here again, I would go back. read more

I felt safe and cared for on my last visit. I had waited a bit longer this last visit. But my haircut kept its shape and my highlights were still bright. Not worth the $$$!!! Spent over $400 for highlights & a haircut & the highlights on the underside of my hair were so bad..I was unable to put my hair up in a ponytail or bun. I called & complained & they had me come in to fix it. They fixed it at no charge but sadly I am now even more disappointed then I was before. They now used a different color instead of the ash blonde that I had originally requested so it has now messed up the highlights they did the first time. And to top it off, as Kacey was in the middle of blow drying my hair, the owner(Patty)interrupted & said I would have to pay for the blow out or I can leave with wet hair, unable to even see if the color was accurate at that point. Such poor taste as I had already been incredibly inconvenienced with all of this...the least they could do was dry it to make sure the color was accurate(which it was not!). Kacey is so super sweet & personable..but should not be working in a salon of this caliber. Nikki is absolutely one of the best. It's hard for me to find hair stylists that I genuinely have a loyalty to especially being a blonde, but I'm genuinely sad to be leaving her when I move. Over the year and a half that I have lived in the area she has transformed my hair and I could not love it more and be more thankful! I fondly refer to my hair appointments as "foil marathons" since I have so much hair and we foil the entire thing, but Nikki is so unbelievably patient and good at what she does. All of the girls are so sweet and kind and it's very evident that all of the stylist are there to work together to ensure happy customers. I've had my hair done a few times now here and every time my wonderful stylist Kacey asked for multiple opinions from her coworkers to make sure she was doing the absolute best job with my hair. That's what I love most about this salon, it's not a competition between the stylist. Their goal is for you to walk out feeling confident and beautiful. I went to Vidal Sassoon in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. for cuts, blowouts and color. Then I discovered O Salon at the Crossroads in Carmel. I am getting cuts, blowouts, color and service here there than I ever got at any Vidal Sassoon salon. O Salon is a beautiful salon that is clean and bright with a warm atmosphere. I believe I definitely fall in the category of the "salon picky." I too have driven hours to another city to stick with a salon/stylist I knew and loved. I found this salon actually through my stylist, Ember, and both she and the salon are fantastic. The lack of a fifth star is mainly because they are expensive (if I could do four and half I would). But I wouldn't go anywhere else, especially for color. The products they use (Kerastase) are fabulous. I insist upon being able to sit in the chair and say "Make me beautiful" (wink) and then just trust that the stylist will give me a cut that looks fabulous on me.
