After washing my hair two weeks later I smelled a chemically smell that even my braider noticed hours after washing while doing my hair. It seems like it may be a texturizer based on my curls laying "flatter" but it's very disgusting to believe that someone would put something in your hair that's not asked for. It is very curly because duhhhhh we have west African roots but the chemical was never needed when the heat was already going to be applied - in my case the woman doing my hair blow dried it straight and thought she was done until I asked for a flat iron: that's how FINE my hair is. My hair has been super straight for the last 2 months because I accepted the deep conditioner and was not aware it had keratin in it. My curls are slowly coming back but its really annoying that I can't wash and go anymore because of the chemical application. I honestly am kind of sad. I would go back but I would decline the deep conditioner 100% The woman who did my hair was not cuban so maybe she doesn't know much about our hair but she was Dominican and I think she did a GREAT job on my hair otherwise (outside of the keratin).

Another reason I don't like trying out new hair places is because it's like they can smell the newness on you and try to charge you extra, unnecessary prices- they upcharge you something serious. When I called she said she needed to see my hair first before giving me a price, which usually means I-need-you-to-inconvenient-yourself-by-coming-in-just-so I-can-tell- you-some-ridiculous-price-but-you're-already-here-so-you'll-agree-to-pay-it scheme. Ugh! I had some errands to run anyway and as I said the place was #1 when it came to proximity to my house so I thought what the heck, if it ended up insanely overpriced I would just walk home. I walked in and the place was packed. As I stood by the door for a moment, I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay or just go. The lady asked me if she could help and I asked if I could get a wash & trim, sure she said. I inquired about the cost, to which she answered would be $25 then asked if I wouldn't mind waiting. For $25 definitely not (I thought) and asked if I could sit over toward the back. I will admit the wait was long, but that was partly my fault for coming on a Saturday afternoon. But when I was finally up, the lady shampooed and deep conditioned my hair before sitting me in the seat and putting in rollers then placing me under the dryer. When I sat back in the seat and she blew it out, cut it and straightened it with the flat iron I could just see the dollar signs scrolling up like movie credits. Once she was all done, with fear in mind, I asked how much do I owe you and she said $35... what to what?!?!?! $35, seriously for all that! It was the actual price on the price list for natural hair. Ohmigosh, I might've found an honest hair salon for just about the first time ever. I quickly paid her, leaving an additional $10 tip, hugged her and thanked her. Right before leaving I made sure to introduce myself as well as getting her name- Vivi. She was wonderful. While I was walking home there was a little more pep in my step just so I could feel my light hair bounce and slightly blow in the wind. I felt like a hair product commercial model. I more than highly recommend this place. I do suggest that you don't go on a Saturday because it's beyond busy or Tuesday because they're closed. But I recommend you go!
