Been living in Downey for nearly 7yrs and my husband and I have never been here. Well as soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated right away. They took our drink order, gave us chips/salsa & gave us a moment to figure out what we wanted. I chose the Chile Colorado which came with rice, beans and corn tortillas. My husband ordered the Super Burrito wet with carnitas. The food was really delicious and we enjoyed every bite. Just incase you're wondering the Chile Colorado was very mild but was still delicious nonetheless. After our meal we waited for the check and they brought over some Bunuelos.... OMG so good brought us back to our childhood haha. We will definitely be back for sure. Our meals & drinks totalled at $32 and change. Delicious. We can't stop talking about the salsa with the chips. They were the perfect appetizer before the menudo.

Ordered a 'Claro de res' here about a week ago and I was very pleased with the flavor. The veggies were of perfect texture (not mushy or undercooked), the meat was tender practically falling off the bone and the soup was flavorful. More recently (this morning) we stopped in for breakfast. The place is kept very neat and clean and it feels very welcoming. A clean restaurant is a must and these guys keep a nice place. The decorations are very pretty, cheerful and have a fresh modern look that adds a welcoming feel to the place. You feel the Mexíco vibe.:) The food is freshly made, you can even observe as they prep from the dinning area. We had the 'Huevos divorciados' and 'Machaca'. DELICIOUS. And the 'Café de olla'.. YUM. . Just like my grandmother's. Perfect balance of coffee and canela. (Cinnamon sticks) It is a small place, but this just gives a cozy feel to the restaurant. Wonderful customer service as well. I love coming here for their huevos con jamon breakfast plate. It's served with hear amazing potatoes and beans topped with cotiga cheese. You can choose a side of corn or flour tortillas and they bring you buñuelos at the end of your meal. Their cafe de la olla is delicious. My go to place if I feel like having breakfast any time of the day!!! Yup, breakfast is served all day. read more

I have dined here 4 times. The customer service depends on the mood they are in for the day. The menu is extensive, and they will accommodate and substitute items when asked. He seasoning and flavor if the food prepared is decent. Their prices are a little higher than others, but its in a convenient location for me. The kitchen is extraordinarily slow if only because it's likely made to order from scratch and that makes the lack of speed ok. Our party ordered many items on the menu, huevos divorciados, chilaquiles con carne asada, huevo con jamón, huevos mexicanos, and hot chocolate and cafe de olla. Oh my god, the cafe de olla!!! Grabbed some late breakfast after church with my wife and mom. The restaurant is small, but comfortable. We were immediately served chips and salsa. Me and my mom ordered chilaquiles, both with egg whites. I also had the pollo with mine. They were accommodating. My wife ordered the chorizo. All the food was tasty. My plate was clean. This is one of my favorite "hole in the wall" the food is authentic and rich in flavor. Cant go wrong with ordering tacos instead of a plate; they are deliciously topped with Guacamole and pico de gallo. I've tried most of their plates: chile relleno, quesadillas, chicken chipotle, ceviche de camarón, huevos rancheros, huevos divorciados, enchiladas, and many more! They have aguas frescas as well. I really like Yoli's and their food has always been delicious. This review is about the prices. I understand businesses may have had to increase their prices during Covid but this is outrageous. $18 for soup, $16 for a burrito. We ordered take out and spent $70 on a burrito, combo plate, drinks and a side of guacamole. There is no way we can sustain ordering from here and unfortunately have gone else where for home style Mexican food. read more

So My wife and went to Yolis after church this past Sunday and I debated on whether to write this review or not, so I took a couple of days to think about it and I decided to write it not to bash because I have been there many times and have received great service and good food but I have never been there that early on a Sunday. 11am This was a bad move on our part because the service we received was the worst. The male waiter was so busy that he was forgetful, and I really felt like he didn't care of his customers. Thank goodness for the young kid that was there helping because he really helped us and carried the load for the other guy. Anyway the food was OK but I believe because of the service we received it ruined it. I have recommended Yolis to many of my friends but after this I'm not sure I'll be back for a while. Yolis, yes you're busy but you need to remember, every customer counts so train your waiters to appreciate and give good service to everyone read more

I have to give them the 5 stars. First for service and attention. second for the amazing simple soup that you get before you get your order. Third for the amazing Enchiladas de Mole. Four for the coziness and exclusive feeling you get when you see people lining up outside waiting for a seat. and Five for the deliciousness this establishment as been able to deliver on every one of my visits. I recall having the Carne A La Tampiquena on one of my visits and the steak was totally cooked like I like it, not like my family thinks I should have it (which is burnt) Here it was cooked just right, still pink in the middle, and that is no easy feat being that it was skirt steak. Had to stop by and give this place a thumbs up since it's my husband's go-to spot when he has a hankering for some local Mexican. Everything I've tried here: fried potato tacos, rice, beans, wet burrito...have all been good and everything is reasonably priced. My husband always gets the carne asada burrito and loves it. The major stand-out factor here is the service--always friendly and enough attention to ensure you have what you want/need without feeling intrusive. As is trademark with many mexican restaurants they do bring complimentary tortilla chips and salsa upon arrival. The interior is small but they have comfortably fit a couple of tables and the business flow is very smooth here...we've never had to wait for a table yet, there are always a couple of other patrons in the restaurant. Omg this place makes the most delicious authentic Mexican food. You'd think your abuelita is in the kitchen making it herself! Hard shell tacos, chile rellenos, quesadillas, the Desayuno Mixteco (cactus plate) and the SALSA. It was pretty spicy and you could taste the roasted chiles in it. I can't get over how much this place has changed. The food used to be so good! It was home made! I went for dinner last night with my daughter and literally ALL of it was canned or store bought. The tamale was dry, the meat in the taco did not taste grilled, the sauces on the table as well as on my enchiladas, canned. Even the chicken in the enchiladas was canned. I love this place. It's a little bigger than what it seems like on the outside but it still is a small place. The people are nice and they even serve sopa de fideo before your meal and the chips and salsa are good. I took my grandma and my mom and they approved of the food. My grandma hates all Mexican restaurants because they don't taste like authentic Mexican food but she did not complain about this one. First time I tried this restaurant and I have to say it exceeded my expectations!!! They took the order perfectly over the phone, the food was absolutely delicious! Not spicy as most Mexican dishes always are! Even the meat was yummy! Thank you for making my very first time there a wonderful experience!!! You just gained 2 more customers!!! One of the things I always look for, is for people to pay attention when they make the order with the ingredients I asked for and for the food to be NOT spicy because it takes all the flavors away!! Having spotted it earlier in the day while going to Ralph's,my girlfriend and I made a note to try Yoli's sometime. That sometime ended up being later that day, as we had dinner there. The first thing we noticed was a lot more spacious than expected. Having said that, even with limited seating, it is a nice and cozy little joint. Delicious chips and salsa greeted us, as did exceptional customer service. The food itself was scrumptious and in generous portion. On top of that, the prices were very reasonable as we got two complete entrees for the same price you would pay for one at any chain restaurant. Bottom line...definitely worth visiting! read more

Met up with a group of friends at Yoli's to try it out since it had 4-stars on Yelp. 10 of us got together (7adults and three kids) and checked out the pretty authentic menu- lots of choices of both standard fare like enchiladas and tacos plus seafood and other mexican dishes including a good looking chile verde. Have to say that the food was very good. Pretty authentic and what you would expect from a place like this. However, can't give it more than 3 stars because the service was so slow. It was bad enough to the point that one of our party cancelled their order because we had waited so long they lost their appetite. From order to the last plate being delivered to our table was over 45 minutes- unacceptable when you have kids with you. The problem is that the kitchen is very small and they were literally working on one of our plates at a time. Too bad because the food was worth going for- if you have a smaller group don't hesitate to give it a try- but not if you're in a rush! read more
