Bill was courteous, honest, a quality plumber and all around great guy! My kitchen sink was leaking, which I assumed was from the dishwasher. Not only did Bill fix my leaky sink, he also found several other issues in my kitchen sink and fixed them right then and there (asking me if it was ok for him to fix it of course). We also asked him to take a look at our front bathroom sink and discovered the drain wasn't sealed properly. Both issues, he explained, were caused by shotty plumbing work done in the past. While he was working, he explained to us how to do our own maintenance on our kitchen appliances to prevent leaks in the future. Hello, I am placing this review on behalf of myself and my 16-year-old daughter who lives in our residents. We are so thankful for your plumbing coming out and helping us with a diagnosis on the water situation we have going on. They crawled under the house, made sure that there was no water into the house which there wasn't. They walked around the yard to make sure that there was no leak in the front or back. And they recommended me to call a company called bull's-eye who leaked detects. Turns out the leaks under my driveway, of course right where I drive in and out every day. Thank goodness for Yolo plumbing they let me know who to contact and how to do it and that they would support them because they know they're good company. I'm new to this. Dishonest and did not resolve the problems. I had three fairly small plumbing issues to resolve and called Yolo Plumbing based on their good Yelp reviews. I asked their hourly rate when I called to schedule the appointment and was told that it is $250. I also asked about the cost of a couple of parts for my specific brand of toilet. I agreed that this all seemed reasonable and made the appointment. The plumber arrived as expected and was friendly. As he explained the repairs, and I told him what I had done a few years ago when replacing the garbage disposal, he told me that sometimes these things just "take a little M-A-N." Gross. When he finished the work, after about an hour and a half, he went to his truck to write up the bill. He was gone so long that I thought he had left. I went out and saw that he was still there, so I assumed he had taken a call or something. After 30 minutes he came back in with the bill. The hourly rate that I was charged was $260, not the $250 that I was quoted. I pointed out that this is not what I was told on the phone and he said, "I don't know why they tell people that when it's written right here." Clearly, this is not the first time he had heard of this issue and yet it persists. I was charged twice as much for the parts as I was quoted on the phone, too (the same parts that were actually used). And the real insult on the bill is that I was charged $130 for him to sit in his truck for 30 minutes! Outrageous! After all of this, of the three issues, NONE were resolved for more than a week and he left a mess. I strongly recommend that you find a better company. read more

I got Yolo Plumbing from a recommendation and boy was I sorry. He did warn me that he charges $520 and hour, but I thought I'd heard him wrong. He told me he was experienced with Navien tankless water heaters but showed up without the tools necessary to properly troubleshoot the unit, spent two hours trying to talk Navien into giving him troubleshooting assistance because he isn't a paying customer of their support plans, then Googled the error for another hour, vacuumed out the air intake and left recommending I replace the unit. He charges by the 1/4 hour so when you see $67 it looks reasonable and competitive, but when yiu get the bill it comes out to $520 and the unit isn't working. Do yourself a favor and find a professional with reasonable rates who won't charge you if he can't fix it. read more

I had a plumbing emergency on a Friday night - one of my two water heaters failed. That meant cold showers! It was a weekend so I did not even try to get someone. I took a photo of my "dead" water heater: It had a sticker from Yolo Plumbing - so I called them and left a detailed message. Donovan and Levi came by today to fix a leak we had in our dining room ceiling caused from the drain in the upstairs shower drain. They took the time to assess the problem and narrow down the source of the leak. It turned out to be a cracked fitting in the drain line. They did a great job rebuilding the upstairs drain for us and made sure there was no leak before leaving. Both of them were pleasant, professional, and easy to work with in getting our problem resolved. Donovan was good in guiding Levi, his apprentice, in having him take part in the repair and testing of the drain. Working with them was great! I had issues with one toilet leaking. I called a local plumbing company which was recommended on social media and ended up with a $18k quote for a repipe of my drains. Their rep came out but made absolutely NO inspection of any pipe above or below the toilet. I can only assume that they're now expanding and sending reps out who are working on commission. Last night around 11:30 pm I heard loud gurgling & discovered the toilet, shower & bathtub were all backing up. I've never had anything happen like this! There had been no indication there was a problem. After an hour or so of bailing out & cleaning up, I drifted into an uneasy sleep. At 8 am I called.North Pacific Plumbing. They were solidly booked for the next two days but referred me to Yolo Plumbing who they recommended highly and Yolo certainly deserves that recommendation! Even though they were booked, Alan.told me he'd try to get someone in today and sure enough Donovan and Luke were able to come by & resolve the problem (tree roots blocking drain) They were professional, but friendly, willing to explain all they were doing and just as nice as they could be. As an aside, before Yolo came out they recommended I have the City check the city cleanout - and the City sent out two great techs,, but sadly, turned out my house didn't have a city installed cleanout, so I had to have a plumber use the house cleanout Now that the line has been cleared, the city will install a cleanout. But back to Donovan and Luke - great guys, worked as quickly as possible to keep my costs down, tested everything and then totally cleaned up the work area. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate Yolo Plumbing understanding how difficult it was for me to have no water and go that extra mile to get a team out to help me today. Contractors like this are hard to find. I only wish this company serviced our area. My in-laws have been using Yolo Plumbing in Davis for about 13 years. They recently passed away and my wife and I are responsible for the estate which includes selling a 60 year-old home in Davis. We live three hours away, so coordinating schedules was paramount. We had a home inspection performed so we could address issues before putting the house on the market. We trusted Yolo Plumbing to handle the plumbing repairs. While addressing the repairs from the inspector's report, "Billy" identified another leak by performing a simple "compartment check" (filling a sink with water and then letting it drain). The new discovery required a second appointment. We scheduled to meet with "Joe" (owner) and "Ian" a couple weeks later to complete the work. During the second appointment, Joe understood that we had traveled to get the plumbing and other work done. He could not have predicted what he encountered, but he and Ian stayed until 8:00pm to complete the work! It is apparent our home inspector did not perform the simple compartment check that Billy did. Had a potential buyer ordered another home inspection that included this test, we could have lost a sale or been asked to reduce the price to compensate. These are good people! They're honest, friendly, professional, and reasonably priced. They took the time to explain what is happening and why. They discussed issues with us before, during, and after repairs. Their communication is excellent! We are grateful that they took the time and effort to not only identify issues, but to stay three hours after their normal quitting time to complete the work so we didn't have to schedule another appointment. Joe was familiar withe equipment and performed a clean instaalation, including a bypass (useful for future maintenance. The price was very reasonable especially given the quality of the installation. Super expensive. I had the owner come out with his years ( I believe 29yrs) of experience I don't understand how changing a kitchen sink would take 5.5 hrs. I have a new build home so it's not like I have old plumbing or someone has done any work on the plumbing before such as a remodel. Also, do to them charging like they do ($330 first hour and $55 every 15mins) it felt awkward not being able to ask questions or even offer a bottle of water ( as I often do when I have a contractor do work for me) to him cause I didn't want him to stop and have him charge me. My wife and I felt there was no sense getting the job done in a timely manner. They told us 5-7 hrs for the sink job but maybe sooner I really didn't think it would take that long specially with all those years of experience. read more

I am leaving a 5 star review, because, on June 26, Yolo Plumbing employee Alan, took the time to talk to my Mom and I, about a plumbing problem we were having. We felt the problem was rather urgent. Alan had us send a video of the leak and assured us it was not urgent. He also counseled us to contact our water softener company, instead of a plumber. A less honest company would have come out just to collect a big, fat "emergency plumbing" fee. Everything worked out great.
