We're in the Johnson City, TN area checking it out to see if this might be a place we want to buy a home. Of course, that means checking all the boxes... including Chinese food. The restaurant and staff were typical Chinese vibe. I'll be honest, coming from NY, my expectations weren't high. I didn't even take pictures at first because I assumed there wouldn't be a review (and I usually won't post a negative one). When I tell you SHOCKED isn't even a strong enough word... I'm not kidding. We didn't want leftovers, so we ordered a few things to share. They brought kimchi and pickled cucumbers to the table. I'm not even a kimchi person, but this one was delicious; and the sweet, tangy cucumbers were fantastic. Wonton soup is always my barometer for good Chinese food. The broth was flavorful with just a little kick. The wontons were plump with filling and had a super thin wrapper-absolutely delicious. We tried both the egg roll and the spring roll-both spot on. The duck sauce and Chinese mustard were excellent too. For our main, we ordered General Tso's chicken (mild spice) with white rice. First of all... the platter was HUGE. Aside from being slightly spicier than I personally prefer, it was AMAZING. And yes...WHITE MEAT CHICKEN! Big chunks of juicy, crunchy chicken, large slices of onion (which I love), pieces of pepper, and a delicious sauce that coated everything perfectly. Halfway through the meal I realized I HAD to take a picture because this review was happening. This wasn't "good for Tennessee." This was genuinely DELICIOUS Chinese food. Best buffet I've ever been to as far as Asian restaurants go. We didn't have reservations and got there around noon. Had about a 10 minute wait. Most of the food was delicious and they do a great job of keeping the trays stocked. Grace took good care of us and we were stuffed by the time we left. Came here on the recommendation of local friends. This is a great spot for Asian food or sushi. Our waitress was quick and friendly. While waiting for our meals we watched the person behind the plexiglass making sushi. Several tables and booths around the smallish dining area. Great food AND service. Been going there for many years and never do. The sesame chicken is the best in the area.

Several years ago, I highly recommended this restaurant. However, recently, their dishes have gotten really bad. Their orange chicken is dry and had mostly flour and little chicken. My wife on the other hand, ordered their seafood combination with vegetables. Do the chefs even taste their dishes before serving? It had no flavor or spice. The Tri-Cities area isn't known for their Asian food quality; most places I have tried have been edible but not great. Well, Yong Asian House is great Chinese good. I got the Kong Pao Chicken and loved it. The fried rice was full of flavor and the chicken was fantastic. My wife got another dish (I couldn't find it) that had Shrimp and she loved hers. The ambiance is enjoyable with well spaced tables and a quiet interior. Our waitress was excellent and she took care of us without being obtrusive. Started really well with crab ragoons. They are not the lightweight version but a stout rendition. The filling was so good I had to double check it was imitation not real crab. There was a good wait until our orders came but not enough to complain. My wife had the General Tso's chicken. Very well done with a light brown sauce with only a hint of spicy. I really enjoy a spice that almost makes you rethink your life choices. The breading was light and delicious. My Kiss of fire sushi roll was well made and extremely tasty. It was missing the heat I expected but still amazing. We opted to try the fried bananas for a new desert, from all appearances it was going to be delicious but my wife and I found the texture of the bananas made it unpalatable. The flavors of all the parts were great but not to our tastes. The breading was amazing and chocolate was great. Overall we will be back to try more sushi. read more

This restaurant is a fantastic place to eat in Gray. They have all sorts of asian specialties and they serve sushi. What I really enjoy about this place is that they remember that I have a shellfish allergy and when I order my food they tell me that they will make sure the chef uses a different pan for my food. I feel secure eating here because I know they take my food allergy as serious as I do. Tonight I dined with my sister and mother, and this was the first time we've dined in here since covid hit last year. We've done take out but the dine in portion has been closed until this week. I work in Kingsport about once a month and a friend turned me on to this place. I started with some Hot Sour soup which had great flavor without being overly spicy. The waiter had also brought some pickled vegetables to enjoy. My entree shown in the picture was quite tasty and it was a very generous portion. Service was a little slow but the place was packed. Sunday is the second busiest day of the week for a restaurant. There r 3 Asian type restaurants in Grey, TN. The only one open between the 3, at 1:43 Sunday March 19,2023 was Yong Asian Cuisine. Thrilled to the gills to find it open, we noticed the sign stating " We r short staffed. Please b patient with the staff that has shown up for work! COME ON HUMANITY, let's treat one another better! I mean, really? I'll‍ The lil place was packed. Adaline sat the 2 of us at the second to last table in the joint! After maybe 4-5 minutes she brought us our drink order, telling us our server would b right there , while sincerely apologizing for our lil wait. We watched just two young and teensy servers almost flying like TinkerBelle... they were so fast... taking care of the entire place! There were big after church parties all over the place; rest was dotted with parties of one, 2, & 4. It was a magical thing watching the two servers, Adaline the Mgr/owner and even a chef helped bring food to guests, at times. They not only worked like a well oiled machine, but they interacted like family. We saw as every need was met, bellies became full, children laughed as momma fed them another bite, couples relaxed over a great meal, and smiling faces of the staff was evidence that they truly cared that u enjoyed urself there! Our precious Lil server Grace was brilliant as she answers my menu question with clear & precise help. Our Wonton soup was hot & delicious. IDK how, truly, but our drinks stayed full, & our entrees were hot and freshly authentic ... well worth being a lil patient ( no where close to the wait we anticipated) to enjoy ourselves here. Grace & Adaline checked on us repeatedly with kindness and what truly felt like genuine concern that we were having a fabulous meal. The after church crowd with all the big tables began to clear out. More amazing Asian in the Tri-Cities! Right off of exit 13 on I-26, I was pleased to stop here on my way home from work. Like I do at every Asian place, ordered a spring roll. It was crisp and delicious, and not greasy or overcooked. The Buddha bowl was a treat. A hearty blend of tofu, vegetables and noodles in a tasty brown sauce is sure to become a warm and comforting favorite during cold Tennessee winters. My sweet & sour soup, egg roll, and Kung Pao Chicken were delicious but my wife's spring roll was barely warm and our server put in an incorrect main course order for her. She settled on the beef and broccoli brought to her instead of the mixed vegetables she had ordered. She said it was good. I had also ordered a "to-go" order of fried rice which was forgotten until I inquired about it after getting the bill which didn't include it. Granted they were busy but the service was lacking.
