Ordered off their 'special' Chinese menu--Szechuan Chicken and had them add green beans w it and it was excellent--chicken pieces included the bone so it was finger food and authentic ( like Peter Changs in RVA). I debated between 3 and 4 stars, ideally 3.5 stars. I was craving Chinese so ordered delivery via Uber Eats. I ended up getting several meals out of my order and it reheated well. The hot & sour soup was good. I've had better but I have definitely had worse. It could use a little more flavor but a dash of soy sauce helped. The pan fried dumplings were very good. Not as "fried" as I normally like but since this was delivery, I know the steam in the container also made them a bit soggier so I totally get it. I ended up trying the Chicken Pad Thai (yes I know it's not Chinese, but sounded good). It was a decent pad Thai. It had an interesting flavor that I couldn't place, not a bad one just tasted different. It's advertised as spicy and it wasn't at all, but was served with some chili sauce on the side. Some of the items are hit or miss, but there are 2 standouts that keep me coming back. They have the best crab rangoons and best hot and sour soup in JC. There is also an authentic chinese menu. I tried to order from it in my last visit, but the Chinese chef was out so I just went with the tofu hot pot instead. The hot pots aren't what I expect of boiling broth that you cook things in, rather it is a clay pot with the ingredients cooked with a delicious peanut satay sauce. I wish they would bring the buffet back. It was pretty amazing. They do have good lunch specials instead. read more

Best crab rangoons in town! W & H is a local favorite. It's quick enough for lunch if you're on a schedule. The Gen Tsos, Lo Mein, and Egg Rolls have always been fresh and tasty. The iced tea freshness is not always consistent in my experience and this is something I hate to recall about a place, but it's still in my mind. Parking is decent. It's on a one-way street, so the approach is specific and the you need to be in the right lane or loop back around. Google Maps did me wrong the first time. read more

You go to place to get some Japanese fried food right there on the flat grill call in ahead of time you can beat the just pick up easy to go or you can sit in. They're usually not too busy. An interesting free item they provide are fried wonton chips with some sweet sauce. It's a nice gesture but the wonton chips were extremely greasy. The soup they provided with the Japanese dinner tasted like a dirty rag. The salad came with a shrimp dressing which tasted like honey mustard. Not sure I would call the dressing "shrimp dressing" because it didn't taste anything like shrimp. I ordered the Japanese filet mignon and I'm not sure what kind of meat they served me but it wasn't filet mignon. It had a tuff roast beef texture. I ordered my meal with glazed carrots which are essentially frozen carrots heated up. The only real edible part of my meal with the lo mein noodles which weren't that great. They were drenched in a sweet sauce which tasted basic. Overall, I'd wouldn't come here. I didn't eat a quarter of my meal and spent over $30 read more

Ate there Christmas 2024 and enjoyed it enough to do a repeat visit this Christmas. I don't know what happened over the last year. There really wasn't any special ambiance at all, not the biggest deal but the service was awful. Our table was randomly handed salad but not to those who had expected to receive a salad, same with soup. We were confused. We were some of the few first customers and when food finally started to arrive it looked good but 2 dinners didn't arrive until almost 10 minutes later. The first two places that I found were both closed, even though the scheduled hours said they were open. I was impressed with the lunch special that I got. Our first visit was good. Food was great. We had the place to ourselves. Today was our second visit. The chef at the hibachi grill was cooking with higher temps to get the food done faster. As a result the filet and shrimp was overcooked, making the steak well done instead of medium rare and the shrimp crispy on the outside. The same can be said for the scallops my husband ordered. They were too crispy on the outside and overcooked inside, which resulted in a crunchy and chewy scallop. It's unfortunate, but you can't set a grill temp based on pressure to get customers fed. Slow it down a bit and cook it right. I will try it again and see how it goes. The wedges of orange were wonderful at the end of the meal. Also, the fried wontons were a lovely (free) beginning to the meal. Last thing I will say is the waitress acted overwhelmed and was very abrupt when coming to the table. Understaffed? From the crispy noodles they served with a delicious sweet dipping sauce to our entrees, we loved everything. The broth soup was excellent, the hibachi perfectly cooked (we had steak, chicken, and shrimp), and the glazed carrots and rice were perfect sides. The only con was that the place was freezing. Large amount of food for a good price! Just tried this place out after coworkers suggested it to me and I'm glad I gave it a shot! I got the steak and shrimp hibachi which was delicious. However, since we weren't getting it to go per usual, we decided to sample the Thai and Chinese American fare. We ordered our usual hibachi, along with Tom Kah soup (ordered it extra spicy), and beef and broccoli w/ lo mein. It was ALL delicious. The Tom Kha soup surprised me. Food took longer than usual but I think it was because the kitchen probably was getting ready to wrap it up for the night (we were the only table there). Felt really bad, but the lady that helped us (possibly the owner) was super nice and sweet. Food was good. Ordered "Hot Pot" thinking it was gonna be the hot pot that is meats and veggies cooked in broth, but was presented meats and veggies that weren't too different from stir fry except it was served in a clay pot. I did get a sweet and sour soup on the house and I gotta say it's one of the best examples of that dish I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. Their fried dumplings were also very good. This is one of those instances where I wish I could give half stars. This deserves three and a half stars - a decent restaurant, but not a great place (which would be four). Let's start with the high points - service was great. Servers are polite, and the food came out quickly. As for the food itself - I ordered General Chow's (yes, that's as it appears on the menu) tofu with an egg drop soup and vegetable eggroll. The preparation was fine, ingredients were fresh enough, but lacking in flavor. The menu indicated this was a spicy item, but I didn't break a sweat. Awesome Lunch specials which start at $5.95 and come with a LARGE portion. We both ate for $15 and left with a to-go box and two happy bellies. This restaurant from the outside has blacked out windows and is in a small strip mall. My boyfriend and I weren't sure what to expect walking in! We were greeted by a very friendly woman at the counter (who I assume is the manager or owner) and were brought to our table. We ordered steak hibachi and substituted the carrots for mushrooms. We were quickly brought our drinks, a side salad and a delicious soup. We went here twice, the first time we ordered filet mignon and it was cooked to a crisp. It was very hard, rough and almost unedible. I usually get my steaks medium rare so this was very different. We let our server know because we didn't specify and she didn't ask and the manager gladly brought us out some more. The second time we went, we made sure to specify and the server basically told us they don't cook them that way. We asked for whatever they could do closest to that and received well done steak. Not as bad as a last time but definitely not medium rare or even medium well. The manager made sure to check on us and how the steak was. We loved every other aspect of the service and just took the steak how it was. We will definitely be back but won't be ordering the steak again. read more
