Haven't eaten inside the restaurant yet l but I have gotten takeout from there quite a few times and every time it's been really good. Usually when you take out food from the restaurant, you lose a little bit of the quality, but that's not the case here. This time I learned the dumplings are homemade so tried them--it was fantastic, as in nyc fantastic. The dumpling skin was not too thick or thin and the pork ginger goodness filling was bursting w flavor. Then we ordered what I consider the best seafood dish in the area, lobster w ginger scallions--great to share. So glad we have this option here in JC. Once again we failed at finding decent Asian food in eastern TN. This place is run down and a bit dirty. We decided to give it a go anyway due to a few recommendations. We tried the orange chicken, fried rice, lo mein noodles, sweet & sour chicken, egg roll, and egg drop soup. Everything was terrible. The sauces are not flavorful, the chicken is frozen garbage, the noodles were mushy due to being over cooked...a total waste of money as we ate about 1/4th of what was on the plates. Normally a server that noticed that would ask if there was anything wrong, not here, they just want your money. I love their sushi and entrees. My husband and I are vegan and it is so easy to order online from them. They are very accommodating. So my husband, daughter and I ate here tonight for the first time . I have to say it was a little underwhelming. The sushi is not priced right for what you get. These rolls were in the $12 - $15 range each. The rolls are not bad tasting but also not super tasting either. What made the low stars is the size. They put a very thin layer of rice so they come out super small. Very disappointing. The servers were nice but you can tell the owners are cheap! No complementary soup, wontons or anything for the table which is very odd. That with the size of sushi rolls tells me they are cheap. I know they don't have a lot of competition so I'm sure that's why. Anyways I'm giving this place three stars as I feel this is generous. I might come back and try the entrees but definitely not the sushi. Oh and the say there is fresh king crab on the snow mountain roll and there might be some but there is NO WAY you would take fresh crab and mush it up and spread it on top...... it's a mix of fresh and imitation for sure..... which is inexcusable considering the price of $15. Where to start? Our server was fine. This review is not based off her service. Husband ordered Teriyaki Chicken. How could it go wrong? It was uncooked. Texture was similar to cooked ham. I immediately lost my appetite when I took a bite to see what he was talking about. Which made my shrimp in lobster sauce inedible afterwards. We tried this place out because we heard good things. Ming's used to be one of our favorite Asian restaurants, but this last visit was horrible. Majority of the food was inedible. And the customer service was horrible. When we asked for the soup that was burnt to be replaced with a salad, the waitress came very close to slinging the soup on our table out of frustration. SUPER BAD! I ordered from their lunch menu, Sweet & Sour Pork with Fried Rice. The rice was the worst I've ever tried to eat! NOTHING in it like you usually get, egg, onion, peas etc...it was JUST RICE with something that made it a brownish color, GUMMY, PASTY and totally disgusting! Every time I've been here, I've never been impressed. The food I feel is really over priced for what you get. Quantity is decent, just the quality is lacking. I understand tons of folks love it here but I guess I've been spoiled when it comes to good food and just my opinion that it isn't all that great here. Some things they do pretty well, but others not so much. The place itself looks really nice. With spacious and you're not eating on top of strangers. Staff are really friendly as well. Very very pleased with this place. Before I start, I have to mention that an instrumental version of "Deck the Halls" was playing over the sound system that May Day - made me chuckle. On to the important part of my visit - the food. A nice, crispy spring roll started off the dinner. Not greasy or oily, but light and fresh. And then, the Kung Pao chicken. Ming's is a place we have passed on many occasions...and we chose not to go inside. I don't know why we passed it up. But on this night we went in. What a pleasant surprise. It's a nice place; it's large, warm and friendly; light and bright and the servers were welcoming beyond what we could have expected. Unlike many modern restaurants, there is carpet on the floor. Consequently, it is not a hideously noisy place. So, to the food. We started off with egg rolls. They were nice, but a little greasy. Then there was the vegetable and tofu soup. It was exceptionally good. The shrimp with vegetable which followed was a very good dish and, finally, the joy sushi roll was as good as I have ever had. This was all washed down with Tsing Tao beer (me) and hot sake (Mrs Dave). This place could hold it's own in San Francisco, Seattle or Maine. We visit our business in Johnson City every month and usually eat out when we are here. We will definitely be back to Ming's Asian Cuisine. It's very good. read more

This is the best Chinese restaurant in town. If you never been to this restaurant, you must give it try. For your first time visit ask for Sari's station. She knows the menu better than the menu. So you don't need the menu basically, you just need to trust her and let her order your food. Everything that came it is superb delicious.
