Closed Sundays and Mondays! This place is definitely worth the wait. Listen.... There is a long wait to get your food. Listen again... lol don't make stink about the wait once you get it it's definitely worth the wait. Okay. Remember there is a long wait for the food. But it's worth it loll Oh by the way did I mention there is a long wait for the food but it's worth it?

Delicious!!! Highly recommend this place for Korean food! Ordered the meat jun, bbq chicken plate. It was so good! Only thing missing was the gochijung sauce for the meat jun. If you decide to dine in, don't forget to bus your own table. :)

It was 10 of us so we got a lot of food. Double what's pictured. It wasn't so bad, but we probably would only go back for the wings. Most of the food needed a tad bit of flavor.

2nd visit to Yong's when my first one was in 2017. I love kalbi and I recalled my first experience was a good one. It was a 30 min drive from Waikoloa. You go to the front and choose what you want from the board. After, choose your 3 sides, pay and wait on a table for food. Took about a good 20 mins and first thing I noticed was the cold rice. And the Kalbi itself wasn't as hot if it just came straight from the grill. To me, the rice was plated with the banchan before the ribs were done. It wasn't as tasty as I recall. The kimchi was mild in flavor. Overall, it did get my kalbi fix and supporting a small business. There was a steady wave of customers coming here. It was good but hard to say if it was the best on the island. Would I come back? I probably would next time I'm back on Kona. 4 star but not 5

Took a while to get to, but worth it!

Another recommendation from one of the locals. We were looking for some local cuisine and one of the staff at our hotel told us about this place. After driving thru some pretty winding roads at night to get to this restaurant in Waimea, we arrived to find this restaurant in a strip mall. The food did not disappoint! I ordered kalbi and my husband ordered spicy pork. We had a choice of several sides, and I got the macaroni salad and jap Jae for each of us. Portions were filling and everything we ordered was great. The only thing was there were no restrooms in the restaurant. After driving for 45 minutes, I was desperately looking for one. I was directed to one in the middle of the mall by another customer. Thankfully! The restaurant had a lot of regulars who stopped in to pick up take orders. The food was delicious and worth the drive. If we go back, I'd probably want to go a little earlier in the daylight.

In California, we're spoiled with delicious Korean food and so many Korean restaurants I would say, if you are in mood of Korean food like California then visit this location. Food portion is massive and pricing is reasonable. You have to order the food and then take a seat. My kids wanted chicken and rice and they were fully satisfied and content with the taste. Especially, my picky son has tough time trying new restaurant but this place meets my six year old's expectation. I loved their spicy shrimp stir-fry and the side dishes. My daughter liked the glass noodles and fish cakes. Those were delicious. I would totally recommend this restaurant and come back again.

Probably the worst Korean food I've ever had. Bus your own table. No bathroom for guests. Gross

    Ask the Community - Yong's Kal-Bi

When in Waimea, is Yong's Kal-Bi a place for finer dining?

No, it is not fine dining. It has tasty food but more of a cafeteria style restaurant - like a Chipotle. You order the food at the counter, pick your sides, get your own drinks and then they bring you your food. Very casual and people are not…

The exterior, and interior, of the building is nothing special. As a matter of fact, that's part of what I loved about it; it helps you realize it's an all around fantastic food joint, not just somewhere that charges overpriced amounts for average food because of the "vibe." It's extremely busy inside this place, and staff was extremely friendly and pretty quick with turning out orders. I ordered a two entree plate, which consisted of their teriyaki chicken and pina colada shrimp, per the recommendation of the woman taking my order. The shrimp was incredible and the pins colada sauce that it comes with it's something I now dream about! The chicken was also great. It's dark meat, which is something to keep in mind in case you're a pickier eater, but the char and flavor of it was wonderful. For the sides I ordered rice and their mac salad. I'm not usually a mac salad kind of guy, but this changed my mind and I can now say I'm a true fan. This is perhaps one of the best places I've eaten between the two islands I visited on this trip, and I can't say enough good things about it!

We love Canoe House so much that we planned our son's wedding party dinner here and BOY did they deliver! We had a party of 20 which meant a pre-fixe menu. Normally I'm not a fan of those, but Jonathon made the entire process so easy planning and executing. Everything was perfect! The view, the setup, the service, the staff, the timing on courses, the drinks, the communication, and the star of the show, the food! 5 stars. We all felt like royalty. Everyone raved at all I just mentioned, the food was ridiculously good and the presentation of it was just as good. The flavors are exploding and they all danced together in your mouth like a symphony. The bread is non-negotiable. It's a show stealer. The fried rice is also amazing and raved about by so many reviewers. The appetizers were stupid good: lobster tempura, sashimi looked like art and tasted like perfection, along with the ridiculously good shishito peppers that were devoured. The Short rib though was the show stopper and everyone and I mean everyone could not stop talking about it! Holy Cow! Did I mention the location and views! I kid you not, it looks like AI on a screen, but it's real life. It doesn't look real, and yet... it is... perfection. Everything and every detail was perfect. They deliver that excellence every time to every table. The food is always on point. The service is always on point and the view is better than the mind can fathom (if you haven't experienced it yourself). Do yourself a favor and invest in making a memory at Canoe House.

We ordered the following: Shokupan Pull-apart Bread: 5/5 Delicious, light and fluffy. The butter was also great. I didn't realize how large this was going to be. It's definitely a great shareable for 4-5 people. Shishito Peppers: 5/5 Beef + Foie Gras Gyoza: 2/5 I had high expectations for this dish but ended up not loving it. The gyoza skin was chewy and cold, and the filling was just mushy and I didn't get a great foie gras flavor. 24 Oz Bone-in Dry Aged Ribeye: 3/5 The meat quality was decent but had quite a bit of fat that we skipped over. It was cooked how we wanted it (medium), but was overly salty. Garlic Fried Rice: 4/5 We loved this fried rice but it was also extremely salty. Service was great and overall, we enjoyed our meal. The saltiness was just hard to deal with and made it hard to finish the steak and rice.
