Double Patty. Weighed over a pound
    Matt P.

Great little family owned shop in the Waimea area. One of the few places that's still open after 3pm. We stopped by to get some loco moco. Walking in, you can tell they've been here for a long time. There's no AC in here at all and this part of the island is a bit warmer than the South or West side. We got a 2 patty and it took a while for them to make our food. While we waited, we walked next door to Auntie Lilikoi and ended up buying some of their stuff. After we picked up our order, I noticed how heavy it was. Probably close to 2 lbs. of food. Decided to eat in the car with the AC blasting. Overall, we both thought the loco moco was just ok. But they do not skimp on their portions. A lot of rice and 2 thick patties that were probably 1/2 lb each. Definitely enough for 2 to share. The dish could have used a little more seasoning, but I did like the mac salad. Will be adding this as one of my go to's out in this part of the island. Great for an after hike at Waimea.

How I wish I could transport myself on the daily to try everything from this restaurant. Our family vacation would not have been complete without a local telling us we had to make the trek over here to see what this place offered. A true hidden gem in Waimea that left us wondering how can we ask them to expand to Orange County?! it's meant to be a pick up and go as there is no seating inside, there's some benches across the way but honestly I could have eaten this standing up and with my hands if it wasn't for etiquette. We ordered the mahi katsu and chili pepper chicken that was cooked to pure perfection. So savory, and just more incredible with each bite I took. The gal taking our order said the brownie was made fresh and worth it so of course being a chocolate lover I had to indulge. Our kids enjoyed the cheeseburger, simple yet satisfying. We are so happy we now know of this spot and even left with t-shirts merch to remind us daily of the happy times we had eating here on a Saturday. Looking forward to always stopping by here when we return to Kauai.

    Chicken katsu wrap with ranch

My husband and I stopped in here to grab some lunch. It is counter service without tables inside, but there are a few outdoor tables across the street. My husband got the chicken katsu and thought it was good! I had the chicken katsu wrap with ranch and really enjoyed it. It did get a little soggy, so I would recommend eating it quickly. The food took a little while to come out, but I appreciate the freshness and didn't mind waiting. They have a fridge with drinks. They have the tall boy 16 oz Diet Coke cans. Super refreshing beverage to go with my meal. We enjoyed stopping in for lunch here.

Excellent food, and open later than some of the others in Waimea. Get the mahi mahi katsu; it's delicious and big enough to split, though they offer a mini plate. Food is made to order so if you're short on time, they take call ahead orders. No indoor seating, though some is available nearby.

Menu of burgers, teriyaki burgers, cheese burgers, sandwiches (fried mahi or chicken katsu), plate lunches with loco moco, mahi, Teri, chicken or fish katsu and more! Dessert case filled with cheesecakes and local flavors, freezer full of strawberry guri guri!! Mahi sandwich was fried and breaded, I felt I was eating a McDonald's filet o fish, hubs got the cheeseburger, he was happy. No room for sitting, so we went across the street and ate at the picnic tables and the homeless and the captain cook monument. Nice friendly counter ladies!!

    Mahi katsu mini plate

Biggest mistake was ordering a mini plate! I wanted to try their famous Mahi katsu and the small plate I shared with my boyfriend sent me to heaven. Perfectly cooked and so much flavah. I wish I tried their chili pepper chicken too, I'm sure it would've been better than one we tried from the famous drive in... will be back if I'm in kauai again!

10/10 place for a local Kaua'i takeout lunch or dinner. Delicious chicken and fish. The employee was kind and happily offered the sauces on the side in case they were too spicy for me which I appreciated. Huge portions!! All the 3 stars or less reviews are over 2 years ago (most 7+ years ago), so I think they have stepped their game up and are worth the visit!!

If you are looking for takeout then you have found your spot. The mahi katsu is a specialty. I found it to be just the right amount of futake and special sauce. The service was fast and courteous. This is not a sit down restaurant.

Absolutely the best food, On Kauai. Wow. "Hard to please son" had ' the best fish and chips ever' Wifey and I shared the two most popular dishes. Mahi Mahi and Kelahott - Just simply incredible food and atmosphere was brilliantly Hawaiian ! Come to Kauai , Hawaii for 3 things; Beaches, water and the Da Booze Shop's menu of delights!

Tere Cheeseburger with bacon and the works (but no tomato!)

If you're in Waimea this is a great little shop. I got the 'Tera Cheeseburger' with bacon with the works, wife got the Kekahott chicken! The food was delicious. The service was fast and efficient and yet relaxed 'island time'. Shop is pretty small but there was ample seating at the park across the street. Next time in Waimea, I'll come right back.

We got a bit hungry after hiking around the west side of the island at Waimea Canyon State Park and was able to find this place on yelp driving back to our hotel on the south part of the island. I saw so many people recommending the Kekahott chicken so I decided to give it a try. 1. Kekahott chicken: THIS IS SO GOOD! It is pretty much Korean Fried Chicken but in more of a chicken cutlet kind of format which is great because there are no bones. The seasoning is so flavorful and the batter is so crispy and fresh. The portion size is insane. We could barely close the box! SOOOO worth the price. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, I'll definitely be back! This was so good. It is pretty heavy so might need to order a salad or something on the side but I already miss this chicken. Definitely a must try if you like Korean Fried Chicken. Service was also excellent. They were so polite. It takes about 15-20 mins to get your food since they fry it fresh so you can walk around at the market next door while you wait.

They were very apologetic and our server (like everyone there) was SUPER sweet, and even brought him extra bacon for the inconvenience. I could see there were regulars in there who were getting better attention than us, it happens, which was kind of a disappointment in the service area. The large table sat after us all had their food rolling out the kitchen as soon as they ordered. The food was still great, very homey, and delicious as always. They opened with beef tartare that ruined me for every other beef tartare I've ever had. The osso buco is legendary. Then came the double cheeseburger... and I need everyone to understand that I don't hand out compliments like ketchup packets. This is, without question, the best burger I've ever eaten. It's so good it makes you want a cigarette afterward--and I don't even smoke. I've come back many times just for that burger because nothing else I've tried on Hawaiʻi Island or Oʻahu comes close. Their tater tots have developed their own fan club, and the little bar with beer, wine, and cocktails makes it dangerously easy to linger. The staff is consistently warm and welcoming. After being away for six weeks because of a family emergency, one of my first stops after returning was this burger. It was still outstanding, but I did notice the beef patty seemed about a third to nearly half thinner than I remembered. At around $20, that's noticeable. I'm hoping it was just an off day because this place has earned enough goodwill for me to give it another shot. Don't overlook the butcher shop itself. The meat quality is miles beyond what you'll find in a grocery store. I bought their ground beef for a ragù alla Bolognese, and it was so spectacular that I went back specifically to buy more for homemade burgers. Bottom line: this is one of the hidden gems of the island. Come for the butcher shop, stay for the burger, and if you leave without wondering whether you should light an imaginary post-burger cigarette, we clearly ordered different meals.

We decided to try two different items on their small menu; a pastrami and hamburger. Both were so fresh you could actually taste the difference. Nothing like fresh meat! Both were well-seasoned and TENDER, the bun on the burger was a brioche which was very moist. We also got their version of Mac salad which was quite good The laulau sausage was very good, just never had laulau in a sausage before. GPS gave us the incorrect directions, but we found it.
