I heard of this place thru my Aunt, she said if your a REAL Detroit Lions fan you come here. When you first show up to the place it's small and in the middle of nowhere. They have a huge banner of the 2023 Detroit Lions Schedule outside and then you walk in and there is so much Lions gear inside it's pretty amazing!!! We sat down and ordered drinks and food, I ordered Cream Cheese filled Jalapeño Poppers, The Honolulu Burger and Onion Rings. Once the poppers got here you could tell they were gonna be crunchy and they were very delicious, crunchy, and cheesy. Very worth it. Once the burger came I noticed it was pretty big and had a lot of ingredients, it had Bacon, cream cheese and several other items I can't remember. I like my burger Rare and it was a perfect rare. It was very delicious, the bacon was cooked to crisp and the meat had a great flavor. The onion rings were very crispy and crunchy. Everything here is very delicious and it has a little gift shop of items you can purchase coffee cups, growlers, hats, shirts and many other items. If you are a true LIONS fan you have to visit this at least once. read more

Yooperman's is a gem. Their food is great, prices reasonable (not cheap, but certainly not overpriced). The servers are friendly and it's a place where you often run into friends and neighbors. Place was ok. We ordered mostly drinks and pork rinds. I felt like the pork rinds could have been optionally seasoned or something. When we walked in the waitress was flabbergasted that we were just there to have a beer. I really did not think it was that out of the ordinary to just stop somewhere for a drink. She said she was not used to this sort of thing and became increasing disturbed by what was unfolding in front of her which was just us ordering beer. I really do not understand. read more

We are staying in DeTour for the second time. Met the community librarian several times while working there and really enjoyed her. Then learned her family owns this restaurant. So tonight we went. Wonderful place! Very community and family oriented, especially on a Friday night. Ran out of whitefish just as we ordered it, but I was happy with soup and salad bar and husband ordered chicken. Salad bar was way better than I expected, better than nearby Raber Bay restaurant. Great homemade soup: chicken and dumplings and goulash. Killian's beer on tap: Cold and delicious! Husband ordered coconut cream which we didn't need, but heavens! Our new friend, the waitress and librarian, said her mother made it. My husband is still getting "likes" with his Facebook pic, and the taste was even better. Not far from DeTour and we will be back in 2019! read more

There aren't a ton of restaurants in the eastern U.P., but Yooperman's has established itself as one of the few really good ones. It's a friendly sports bar with great food, and it has won the acclaim of most of the locals - our family members here drive from Cedarville every week just to eat here and whenever we visit from Utah we make sure to come at least once. Burgers are enormous, but also just really good ($7-10). The homemade chips that come with all the sandwiches/burgers are the perfect slices - not too thin, not too thick - and deliciously crunchy (not soggy like some homemade chips), but if you're craving fries, you can substitute their handcut fries and a little cup of coleslaw for a $1 and some change. My Philly Cheesesteak was full of flavor with grilled mushrooms and onions and the right amount of cheese, and au jus on the side packed with flavor and the right saltiness. I ordered fries but next time I'd do the chips - the chips are so crispy and good! The salad bar is offered every day and is always fresh, well-stocked, clean and varied (beets, sliced sweet yellow and red peppers, cottage cheese, among the usual salad fare). It's also hearty- the little pasta, potato and veggie salads seem homemade and aren't always the same - while we were there there was a delicious rotini pasta salad with lots of spices and slices of pepperoni, and a bowtie pasta salad with real bacon pieces in it, but one of my family members (a local) said her favorite is a broccoli salad they make with raisins, that wasn't offered while we visited. There is also usually a pudding or dessert-type offering, and a soup (when we went it was a beef stew). It's about $5.95 to add the salad bar to any sandwich/burger, and is well-worth it even though you end up with a ton of food. However, be sure to note: when they have specials like Italian night or other dinner bar options, the salad bar can ONLY be included with the special dinner bar, not with the other entrees (so you don't sneak pizza, etc.) The special when we visited was a Pick Two seafood option, and my husband loved his two giant servings of crab legs and grilled shrimp, plus a potato (he said his sweet potato fries were better than any he's had back home) and the salad bar included in the $15.95 price. Atmosphere is super casual and friendly. Good servers, quick with refills and checking in, and you usually see one of the owners out walking the floor or busing tables. The sports bar culture is fun and not overwhelmingly "sports bar." Kid-friendly with high chairs and booster seats (although the high tables are a bit cumbersome and scary with little ones, but there are some normal-height tables too.) You can take drinks out to the nice patio, too. It can get busy but we've never had to wait - this is a popular place! When you're in the eastern U.P., this is the place to go for good eating. read more

A fun stop for a drink! We would have ate something if we didn't have other plans already. The food looked delicious on the salad bar! Also, I heard they have a Polish night and there is not much better than that. Next year when we make the trip from TN to MI, I'm there! The drinks were cold and refreshing and I can't ask for much better than that! Friendly family-run service! Great stop to watch the game! All Michigan sports on the TVs with ice cold beer. Whitefish was great. Husbands burger was outstanding. Curly fries were perfect. My fries were horribly well done. Couldn't eat them. Traded for curly fries. Waitress stated they received bad batch of potatoes. These fries should never have been served to a customer. Very disappointed after reading such rave reviews. read more

Nice 'lil place with hand-patted burger patties and a great salad bar! All the salads (potato, broccoli, and pasta) tasted homemade, and I almost cancelled my fish platter just to keep eating the salads. Fries could have used a little more seasoning, but the cowboy burger more than made up for it. Friendly staff, low key, yet fun decor themed on their proprietor(?)'s super fan status with the Detroit Lions. Nice domestic beer selection, lots of bottles, not so much on tap. Always worth the trip while in the Upper. We stayed in Cedarville and this is the place to go. Fresh salad bar. I ordered the whitefish with sweet potato fries & my husband had the perch. Very generous portions - had to take some home for lunch the next day. Waitress was attentive - the interior is a homage to the Detroit Lions - - memorabilia decorates the interior. They do have outside seating. Love the Upper Peninsula laidback and friendly. read more

Every year we go to the Upper Peninsula for vacation & every year we stop at the Yooperman. Always great food. This visit was as good as before, they are being consistent in their offerings. We had the Perch Dinner, choice of potato Plus the fabulous Fresh Salad Bar. 4 Huge perch fillets and I mean Huge, done right, light breading & fried to perfection. See the photo (sweet potato fries underneath) Oh and yes they have an extensive beer list. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Can't go wrong, we'll be back for sure. read more

Probably one of the worst restaurants I've ever visited. I was there Oct.9, 2018. 4 of us had different meals and no one was happy with what they got. The buffet was sparse with not much left. I asked for some fresh food but was given some excuse that they were out of some items. While the fish portions were large, they were over cooked and greasy. Probably because it was frozen and not fresh. Not whitefish either as they were out. No condiments on the table, like ketchup or mustard. You had to ask the waitstaff for it and then it was brought out and not left at the table. The lettuce on the salad was as limp as a Lake Huron leech. Even our hosts who live on Drummond and have visited this restaurant many times said it was the worst experience they have ever had at this place. I guess it was just a bad night for a visit, but I will likely never go back. read more

Absolutely the BEST olive burger, EVER!! They also have a great Snicker dessert that rivals any 5-star restaurant in New York! Haven't eaten anything else, as I always make a special trip there, just for the burger : ) Always sit at the bar - staff and patrons are friendly. ONE NOTE OF ADVICE - they default to the 1/2 lb. burger, but I think they have a 1/3 lb, or maybe it's a 1/4 lb. option, for those with a smaller appetite. I always forget and leave with half of it in a carryout box - darn!!! Poor me to have leftovers : ) Will go back, as often as I can make the 5-1/2 hr. trip! read more

Very good food with a very good waitress. We visited on a slower Wednesday night but the food was phenomenal. We started with the app plater, shared the full order of nachos between the three of us (with PLENTY left over) and ended the night with dessert! Loved the place. It was recommended to me by my rugby friend, and world traveler, Carl Wahl. Carl scolded me for not getting a burger, but I went for the Caesar salad, which I liked. The lass working the bar was very friendly. Best of all, she remembered Carl's dad, and was very complimentary. I wish that they could add some sort of IPA to the beer list but, "when in Rome..." I need to go back to meet my carnivorous needs. read more
