The main issue was that we were really hungry, having spent hours waiting on auto repair. The brisket tacos did not satisfy but to alleviate hunger. The flour tortillas were what my sister called 'raw'. They were not heated at all. The brisket meat was lukewarm warm. The cabbage slaw was raw. There was a dab of chunky plastic jar salsa already placed in the middle of each taco. Chips and salsa: the salsa was in a very small plastic thimble. We couldn't even fit a chip into the salsa. The best part about our dinner: the server asked if everything was good. I told her that it was definitely not my favorite EVER. The wonderful thing about this was that she asked me to explain. She did not show an animosity and was truly inquisitive about our dislike of the food. She said that she would tell 'him'. I am assuming that 'he' would be the cook. I appreciated her concern because the bill was about $40 and when my sister can't finish her meal that's a problem. It was about 430 and I hadn't eaten all day so I did finish mine but I couldn't say that I was not pleased with it. Although nothing was spoiled and it certainly could've been worse. I don't know if I could trust going back. I think that they could do a real light marinade on the cabbage to soften it a bit and if they fried the tortillas and maybe offered corn or tortilla in the beginning, it would be an improvement. Or how about if the salsa so called and in such a tiny vessel, it wasn't tasteless but clearly store-bought. Any restaurant should be able to do something with this information. I don't mean to be negative or demeaning, but I do intend to given an honest review based on my impression. Good luck Breakers. I was actually very happy to see that something was open during this flooding season. Unfortunately, I would've driven 50 miles further to have a better dinner.

Service was wonderful, food was fantastic, and dessert was complimentary for his birthday! So very nice and enjoyable! Best experience I've had eating out in a while! 100% recommended!! First disappointment was that the Brussels sprouts weren't on the menu any longer. Bummer, but as a restaurant owner I guess they weren't as popular with others as they were with us.. so we got bruschetta and some potatoes. They were just okay. I got the ribs and wings. Asked for boneless wings but I guess he misunderstood me.. no biggie. I couldn't eat the wings he did bring they were so overcooked. The ribs had too much fat, personal preference so I brought it all home and ended up throwing it away. Sister and niece got pasta. They said it was just okay. Nephew had Mac and cheese with chicken. It sounded delicious but it didn't have much cheese and (maybe he misread?) but didn't expect fried chicken tenders on top. The other two got burgers and again, they were just okay. Overcooked for sure. Another favorite burger is gone too, maybe the Texan? We ordered special martinis for dessert but they were more like a tiny milkshake. Very little if any alcohol. Being a restaurant owner I hate giving a bad review. Maybe we've just been spoiled in the past and the kitchen staff has changed? I don't think we will keep it on our list any more. Too expensive to bring guests and be so disappointed.

My husband got the steak tips and mashed potatoes with a side salad - it was sooooo good and had great flavor. I ordered the philly sandwich with fries Let me tell you... It was one of the best philly steak sandwiches I have had, it was the perfect combo of peppers, steak, cheese, sauce and bun. Highly recommend. Key tip - always ask your server what they recommend!

The music was extremely loud. There was one server but she was very attentive. The perch is the best thing we ordered. The fish was excellent and hot and crispy. Honestly, the best fish I've had in the UP. I wish they had homemade tartar sauce. But that is okay. The wings were just okay. Very hot but overly breaded. The fries were hot and crispy. The burger was hand formed and cooked well. I would go back and just get the perch though. This is a great place to grab a quick bite, just be prepared for very loud music.

Self serve beer/cider - really cool concept....you pick the size glass you want (4oz, 8oz, or 12oz) then pick the cider/beer/seltzer you want, then swipe your bracelet to that machine and it pours it and charges you only for the amount you poured. We stopped by on our way up to the Soo and since it was 10:30 am we got breakfast food. Definitely plan to come back during lunch/dinner next time.

Skip to the end to see my rating scale…read more The three things I look for in a brewery are an inviting outdoor space, accessibility to some good food options, and (of course) some quality beers. Big bonus if a place is dog friendly. Salty Mac accomplishes all of these parameters. It's self-serve, so it's a little different in that regard, but someone was always handy to get you pointed in the right direction with how the taps work - and there are a lot to pick from! They have options for wine, seltzers, ciders, and about a dozen different varieties of beers. In my experience it's tough to have that many offerings and produce a brew that's fantastic and make me want to come back for the beer alone. So while none of the beers were fantastic, there are enough solid options that I found one I liked and happily ran through three within a short time. The flatbreads available were really nice. We had a crab rangoon and a white, both excellent. Lastly I need to point out their tipping policy. The owners decided to pay their staff a good competitive wage so that their income wasn't based on the number of customers through the door. For that reason, all the tips are donated to local charities which were listed on a card near the register. I absolutely love that approach and wish more places did it that way. Much respect for this! My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here
