The huge wooden table outside is a giveaway for what's to come and you'll notice exceptional designs that come at a price. These folks use real wood and no MDF or Particle Board crap. This is absolutely a premier treasure trove with humongous wood slab samples the same way there are smaller furniture pieces you can grab from the floor. We took a look at the intricate wood detailing and knew we were in the right place. Tried to speak to a floor person but the owner's wife suggested we speak to him directly as he has a better handle on design. He was busy so we scheduled an early Saturday afternoon appt to talk to him about style and price. Mauricio was welcoming, knows his stuff and answered all our questions. But between an extremely hefty kitchen gut job+repair+cabinets+labor, we didn't want to break the bank for a small dining table. So when we gave him measurements for a 5' wood table with black metal legs, we were looking at $3,150. I get it...it's custom made. Eyes wide open. Not ruling these folks out yet. Even if you don't buy anything, it's a great place to get lost for a couple of hours.

Furniture Share House fit the bill. I had heard about this organization. It gives the furniture to families in need. I made an appointment for their van to pick up my pieces. They came in a timely manner and loaded everything. A $50 donation is suggested to cover the cost to pick up and you get a tax donation form. All good!

But for smaller sales - this might not be the place. I wanted to update my bedroom with a few new pieces. Came with measurements and a floor plan and my designer came up with a really creative way to set up my room. Sounds great - right? It was, until when the furniture was delivered, I discovered my designer had ordered the wrong size dresser/chest unit. It fits in my room but not in the way I thought it could be arranged. I called the store immediately, the designer came to the phone but offered no apologies, no options. It's a custom piece, of course, so I can't return it. But I am deeply disappointed and will not use this particular Ethan Allen again. Buying furniture should be fun - and for the price, their customers should be thrilled with how the room turns out. I can't dump tens of thousands on furniture right now - there will be plenty of business for them over time.

Ordered custom furniture for a new home that was being completed. Unfortunately there was an…read moreexplosion in the home just prior to purchasing it and I was forced to postpone the delivery of my furniture order (had nothing occurred the order would have been able to be delivered on time). This is where Ethan Allen customer service fell apart. Other vendors gladly agreed to hold my orders for many months with no issues due to the unusual unforeseen circumstances Ethan Allen refused to extend the time of holding my furniture frequently citing the terms of the contract that I had signed and that it "wasn't their fault". They wanted to force me to pay outrageous storage fees and to pay for the furniture in full, site unseen. I was forced to secure a unit at a storage facility near the property and have the furniture delivered there. This is still an expense, but much cheaper option than what Ethan Allen was going to charge me for storage. They even had the nerve to not deliver the complete order to the storage facility. They had to make a 2nd delivery to the unit a week later with the missing items. The storage unit is near my new home but is a 200 mile round trip from where I am temporarily living. So I had to travel a total of 400 miles because of their negligence with the delivery. Manager Barbara and salesperson Deborah were absolutely abominable and have zero compassion or customer service skills. I realize what occurred fell outside the parameters of their precious contract, but this was a very unique and unusual situation which required them looking past all that to help out a customer. Shame on Ethan Allen. They represent themselves as a high end store...when you are purchasing. Once the purchase has been finalized their true colors shine through. ** I live in Congers NY. Some of those include Persian rugs, found where else, but Persia. And recently when I needed one of those acquisitions trimmed and cleaned, where else to go, but Baseer's in Larchmont. First of all, people come to me because of my deep knowledge of surplus equipment and the market value for key components needed to launch insurrections. And people go to Baseer's because of their knowledge of the finely woven market. But here's another even better reason to go. It's a family business. And the best businesses are a family business. Your first time being there you may see Baseer's wife. May even see their kids studying and talking. And then what you should also know that you won't learn in an ad or elsewhere is that Baseer goes the extra mile. When I called late on a Saturday after he had left the store and closed it, when I was in need of the carpet for that evening, Baseer heard it in my voice and went back, got my trimmed and cleaned carpet and brought it to my home. Wow. Now that's Customer Service at its's best. Not some 1-800 treatment. It's like, when I asked my friend, if the Chinese takeout restaurant down the block from his store was any good? He said, "I don't know. But the same family has been running it for more than 10 years, so it must be pretty good." And that's all you need to know about Baseer's Rugs. The same family run store. For Years. In Larchmont.

I took three Persian rugs to this store for cleaning. Two came out fine, but one was returned with…read moreripples (see picture). I left the rug on the floor for a few weeks hoping the ripples would settle, but they did not. I asked Baseer to take a look and fix the issue, but he denied that the rippling had anything to do with the washing--which is simply not true, as the rug was perfectly fine beforehand. He then charged me an additional $175 to "fix" the rug, but he was unable to do so. The rug still has ripples, and now it is also stretched out of shape (see pictures). When I confronted him about the poor quality of work, instead of taking responsibility, he repeatedly accused me of lying, raised his voice, and even said he never works with people of my background and nationality. This was despite the fact that I had already paid for his poor service and was only voicing a legitimate concern about customer service. To be fair, Baseer's prices are reasonable, but that is probably the only positive thing about his business. Unfortunately, the rug in question had deep sentimental value for us, and now it has been ruined. All he did was accuse me of lying while charging me for services he did not properly deliver. Absolutely terrible customer service. Stay away at all costs.
