I've been to the Roxy/Mahalls many times, and it's usually a great place to see a show…read more Unfortunately, my most recent visit for the Secondhand Serenade concert left me feeling unsafe in a way I've never experienced there before. Since the Roxy and Mahall's are connected and jointly owned, I want to be clear that this experience reflects on both venues. While my friends and I were trying to find a place to stand, one of my friends was confronted by a couple who were upset that someone was standing in front of them. Instead of simply expressing frustration, they escalated the situation by "transvestigating" her--accusing her (a cisgender woman) of being transgender--and making several derogatory, bigoted comments. It was completely inappropriate and deeply unsettling. Because I've always viewed the Roxy and Mahall's as safe and inclusive spaces, I immediately went to security. Both I and another person explained what happened, but the only response we received was that they would "keep an eye on the person." Knowing that someone was allowed to behave this way without being removed made me feel anxious and unsafe, especially as a transgender person myself. I'm cis‑passing and was fortunate not to be clocked, but the entire situation shook my sense of trust in venues I've always felt comfortable in. I truly hope the Roxy and Mahall's take incidents like this more seriously moving forward. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected at shows, and bigoted harassment should never be tolerated.

I was surprised to learn of all the updates and options for fun. We ended up going with Spins and could not be happier. I arrived 40 minutes prior to our event time just in case anything needed to be squared away still. I was surprised to see our area completely set up and waiting for us. We reserved bowling lanes and food, but plenty of people from our party and their families ventured out to the axe throwing and laser tag. There were no complaints. The arcade area also kept the kiddos busy. The only area I'd like to note for improvement is that our food was to be brought out at 4:30 PM and we did not receive it until 5. Once it arrived, it was delicious, but the wait was felt. Hopefully this was just an off day. I wouldn't let it deter me from giving them another shot.

The 2 bartenders took care of the entire place, which was pretty crazy. I understand they were short staffed, but also, we booked the lanes a week in advance, so I didn't understand why they didn't staff more. The duck bowling area isn't near them, so they barely checked in on us. We didn't want to keep bothering the bartenders because they looked pretty annoyed at our group. For $5 a game, it's a good deal, but I'm not sure if it's worth the headache. The food was nothing special, Po'Boy Sandwich and Caesar salad were overdressed and felt like you're eating straight dressing. Waffle fries were the best thing on the menu. I wouldn't recommend food here, when there's other spots in Tremont. The next time I come back, I think I'll just stick with a drink.

We didn't have enough for a team ourselves. The bowling itself was fun, with hanging out in between. Their league presidents help make it a lot of fun too with trivia most weeks and starting post-bowling games up for everyone in the bar. We usually spent more time hanging out after bowling then we spent bowling haha but yeah it's a lot of fun and a easy way to meet a whole bunch of people you may never have met otherwise!

The bowling alleys were really nice and kid friendly with the option to add bumpers per child. Lots of lighter bowling balls perfect for kids. They had a wall of tvs and music playing. At the bowling alley they also have wait staff that brings food and drinks. We ordered food with the play cards. The food wasn't anything special but the kids enjoyed it. Then we went off to play games. They have a nice variety of options for everyone to choose from. Then you end the day at the prize counter. They had a nice selection of items. Even if few tickets the kids all found something to enjoy.
