Service is excellent. We didn't get the table we wanted, but we're walk-ins so that's understandable during the holidays. We ordered three rolls off the happy hour menu, tomato ginger bisque, and I had the hot sake. My partner said the sushi was overly salted, but I didn't taste that much salt. My favorite was the crispy spicy salmon! We will be back! Happy holidays, everyone.

Went here for a late night bite. Our waitress was very nice, the restaurant has kind of speakeasy vibes because you access it from a stairwell which was cool. The inside had really nice ambiance. The sushi was good and my husband got ramen, the broth was delicious.

Yosake never disappoints! The happy hour menu is unmatched! Excellent service, great ambiance, YUMMY good and plenty of options! Wonderful for a night out with friends OR colleagues. Be mindful of parking details in downtown ILM. Otherwise, enjoy!

Downtown but upstairs. YoSakè is above The Husk so don't sit down at the wrong place like I did. I was greeted with a smile and offered table seating, bar seat, or sushi bar seat. I love watching how the rolls are made, my FAV! Here's my three things: 1) Hip scene for ILM downtown and has a solid menu with hot dish and sushi options. 2) Plenty of beers, wine, and Sakè options so if you wanna feel the sush this is your joint. 4oz pour of Joto, and a Salty Turtle sets any dinner right off. 3) Got the seaweed salad (3/5 portion/runny liquid). Gianna's roll, was super good but didn't know from description that it was a fried roll. I watched it all get made and still love the process.

Gave it a second shot. 1st issue 3months back left me feeling like "I'm not going there again" was ordering to-go $25-30 total, handed over a $50 and was asked if I needed change... yes of course I do. 2nd chance tonight, ordered 2 rolls and an app at the start of happy hour. Received the same rolls twice and the rice on the sushi unfortunately tasted old. I wasn't checked for food quality or if anything was needed. Highly recommend Nikki's sushi for the service-quality-prices are yosakes happy hour prices but all day

The food was amazing. We ordered from the 5-7 Happy Hour Menu. They had several great options on the menu. We choose the Shrimp ,Tuna roll and edamame.Very delicious! It was my first time going and can't wait to go back and try other menu options.

Love this place so much! Just moved to Wilmington and was on the prowl to find my new sushi place! Well folks here it is! The service was fast, great and professional. The ambience is perfect for any date! The food was excellent I enjoyed two rolls, Lo mein and a savory soup!

Hands down, the best sushi ever. We try to eat here every Friday night. Shelly roll, Fire on the Mountain, and Tomago among our favorites. The short rib appetizer and all soups are divine. The sushi chefs are artists and they are nice, funny, efficient. There's a tip jar on the counter and a gong to ring when a tip goes in. We've noticed a majority of sushi diners don't tip in that jar. Seriously? The chefs deserve these tips. If you can afford to dine out, please tip appropriately.

First time here and enjoying it. Came on a Thursday night and it was packed so I suggest making a reservation if you can. I sat at the sushi bar. They have two bars that people can sit at (sushi bar and alcoholic bar). Both were pretty full. The service is fast though! I ordered the Lodi red blend wine and enjoyed it. The malbec is also good! I got seaweed salad and tom yum soup to start. Both came out within 5 mins and were tasty. Then I got the chefs choice specialty roll - which changes each night and is designed by the sushi chefs. My waitress recommended it and I enjoyed it. It had a lot of things including baked sweet potato, North Carolina crab, and tempura shrimp topped with tuna, avocado, spicy mayo, scallions and black garlic shoyu (which is a type of fancy soy sauce I think). It tasted fresh and I enjoyed the details that went into creating it. The atmosphere is lively yet sultry with a tinge of an eclectic vibe. This place is great for a date night, solo date, or a meetup with a couple/few friends. My waitress, Lena was great! She had wonderful recommendations and checked in the perfect amount of times (not too little and not too much) and was very down to earth. Many employees here were pretty friendly.

YoSake boasts strong reviews, and on paper, that makes complete sense. The menu is deep and varied, the location is convenient, and the use of local ingredients is commendable. The actual experience of dining here, however, proved to be fairly disappointing. YoSake is located on the second floor of a historic building, accessible by pausing halfway up a long staircase. Inside, the ambiance is half industrial (bricks n ducts), half imitation Japanese (red walls and anime art). While a "fun" atmosphere with space for groups, it's also quite loud, making conversation difficult. Billed as a sushi lounge, YoSake has classic and specialty rolls but also curries, noodle dishes, soups, salads, and more. There are Thai as well as Japanese influences and vegetarian options as well. My wife and I ordered a coconut lemongrass soup, a farmhouse roll (cucumber, sweet potato, avocado, and asparagus with cream cheese), and a crispy salmon (salmon, forbidden rice, scallions, and avocado cream). Our server was friendly, and in light of what followed, very apologetic, but the meal was one mishap or letdown after another. YoSake makes no claim on authenticity, but even faux Asian fusion should be able to do better than a bag of Bigelow in the tea department. The soup (perhaps tellingly not billed as tom kha gai) was salty to the point of inedible (no hyperbole here) and filled with overcooked vegetables to boot. Somehow, my crispy salmon (listed that way on the menu) was interpreted as a crunchy roll with salmon, a mistake that was, thankfully, quickly remedied. That said, the meal wasn't a complete disaster. The farmhouse roll offered a healthy change-of-pace from the traditional Philly, the salmon was cooked well (crispy as advertised without being dry) if a bit understated in the flavor department, and the rice was quite tasty. It's possible that we caught YoSake during an off-night, but the acoustics, miscues, and presence of more reliable options in the area make it unlikely we'll be back during our next Wilmington trip.

First one in and I walked from the hotel Lela only 1/2 mile away. At the recommendation of my super sweet server I tried the fire cracker shrimp which was a regular specialty on he table placard. I also noticed the cod miso which intrigued me so I order it. What brought in though was the Hamichi Kama which I ordered also. On top of this they brought out a black seaweed/gyoza sample. The. On top of that since it is my birthday week they brought me the green tea mocha. Wow to say I am stuff was an understatement. So since this was a progressive ordering situation which I created the food came out sort of mish mash. I started with black seaweed / gyoza sampler. It was awesome. I would have ordered more had I not already ordered . Then I moved on to the bang bang shrimp. 8 breaded shrimp with their version of bang bang sauce. Plump shrimp with a chili sauce. Not bad. The sauce was just a chili style sauce and so left some to be desired. Then the cod miso came out. Wow. Super hot and had actual chunks of cod and veggies in it. Very good. Then the Hamichi Kama which came out. Amazing. I had this before in Japan and in West Virginia. Amazing. Definitely a recommend. Then they brought out the green tea mochi with green tea ice cream. It was the best I have ever had. Amazing meal definitely needed the walk back to try and walk some of it off. The restaurant is small and reservations are highly recommended. Definitely worth the trouble and I plan to return in the future to try some other items.

Authenticity at its finest…read more Me and my family went to Genki as we heard it was a great place to get sushi and other Japanese food and it did not disappoint. We were greeted immediately and the servers and chef said welcome in Japanese. We were given warm towels for our hands and it's really a great way to start a meal; it makes you feel revitalized. The inside is nice; they had traditional Japanese music playing in the background so it really set the tone. There are some tables, booths and a counter so you have options on where you can sit. The decor is nice with the lucky cat and other fun decorations. The waitress took our order with a smile on her face and asked us if we wanted recommendations on any of the products or food. She was knowledgeable on the menu and showed real enthusiasm with our questions. I could see the chef preparing the food was clearly skilled and so I did go with what the chef recommended. Before our appetizers, they brought us a complimentary side dish of edamame beans in seaweed salad which was refreshing. Then our appetizers came. We ordered Miso Soup, Garden Salad, California Rolls, Spring Rolls and Pork Gyoza. I had a few of The Pork Gyoza which was cooked perfectly. Crispy at first and then quickly melts in your mouth; was nice and hot too. My family told me the California Rolls and Garden Salad were yummy too. Then the entrees came out and they exceeded our expectations. My family that had the Chicken Fried Rice said it was delicious. One got the Grilled Salmon Dinner and another a Crunchy Roll I believe; they really enjoyed their dishes. My family that ordered the Sushi Platter liked his too (Philadelphia Rolls, Fire Cracker Rolls, Matt's Special and I believe some Salmon Rolls). I had gotten the Chef's recommended, which was two pieces of Yellowtail (Hamachi) and I believe Tuna (Kama-Toro). It was incredibly fresh; among the freshest nigiri I have ever had. I also then ordered their Fire Cracker Roll and that was very good; if you like something with a bit of spice you will love it. We wanted dessert but were too full; just gives us another reason to go back! Genki has something for everyone. Japanese comfort food, Sushi, Sashimi, Nigiri and more. If you haven't already gone, it's time to go; you won't be disappointed! Until next time! じゃあね!

I don't usually write reviews but this has happened too many times and the "we're sorry" or "we'll give you a $10 coupon" isn't enough. The past 4 orders have constantly missed something we've both paid for and requested verbally whether we picked up the to go order or go through Uber Eats. This time it was the fried rice, last time the Yum Yum sauce, before that the sushi roll, etc. I called and asked for the manager, Jackson. He apologized like they've done everytime and then offered a $10 coupon for next time. Sorry I want my fried rice. I've ordered from Lucky Star for 15 years and they've never forgot rice or sauce or anything. I then asked for the owner just to let everyone aware before leaving a bad review. Jackson immediately replied that "you're not going to like my answer she's out of the country for the next few months"....he was right that's not the answer I wanted...I wanted my rice! Just another example how bad management & leadership will lead to bad service. It's a shame cause the food (when you get what you ordered) is good. I would highly recommend against ordering online unless you're ok getting a "we're sorry excuse" when your food that you paid for doesn't show up.
