Great food!! One of my favorite restaurants! Not overly priced and large portions. Good variety of tai Asian food.

This selection was more than awesome and I give this dish a five-star rating without equivocation. My friends had other dishes, one the soft shell crab, and were equally pleased. The food is authentic thai with a rather large menu. The service was excellent and staff very friendly and attentive. If you like Thai food this is the best in town, in my opinion, and I would recommend giving them a try. You will not be disappointed.

The restaurant looks recently updated with touches that make you feel like you have been to Thailand. The kitchen has an open appearance which inspires a lot of trust. The service was outstanding from the moment we walked in the door. We felt welcome. The owner and manager came out to ask us about our meal and offered great suggestions based on their signature dishes. The food was incredible. I had several appetizers. The catfish curry was a unique dish, served in a unique bowl, and one I would for sure travel back to get again. This restaurant is a must for both locals and visitors.

Very polite, went above and beyond. Ambiance: I love the restaurant. Love the art everywhere. Most of it is for sale. Beautiful Asian art pieces encased throughout. Great photo ops when not too crowded. There's a bar with seating and seats are mixture of bench and chairs throughout for various comfort. The chairs are very roomy. Food was great. This is my second time eating here and everything was as good as the first time so it's CONSISTENT

My wife ordered the Vietnamese Lemongrass Chili Chicken, but unfortunately it was extremely salty, even by my standards, and I tend to enjoy saltier foods. We also ordered two cocktails that came out much sweeter than expected. It left us wondering whether some additional tasting and quality control in both the kitchen and bar could help improve consistency. That said, our server, John, was excellent throughout the evening. He was attentive, professional, and genuinely cared about our experience. When we mentioned the issue with my wife's meal, managers Jack and David both checked on us personally and worked hard to make things right. Their involvement and concern did not go unnoticed and reflected a commitment to customer service. We've visited Cafe Chinois over the years and have noticed changes since the passing of the previous owner and the family's transition into running the restaurant. The menu has evolved, and the overall atmosphere feels a little different than it once did. During our visit, there was some trash on the floor that remained for a while, suggesting that attention to detail may not be quite where it used to be. Even so, the excellent service from John, Jack, and David, along with the quality of my entrée, showed that the restaurant still has a strong foundation. With a little more consistency in the kitchen and bar, Cafe Chinois can continue to be one of Wilmington's favorite dining spots.

She accidentally spilled her soup and immediately helped clean it up instead of just leaving a mess. She was very respectful through the entire situation. When she asked if she could get another one remade for free or at least discounted because it was an accident, the manager immediately had an attitude and basically told her it was her fault so she had to pay for another one. Just a reminder that accidents happen. The issue isn't even the soup at that point, it's the lack of understanding and customer service. I also want to give Alexis credit because she handled the situation with respect and kindness the entire time, rushed to help clean up, treated the customer well, and actually tried to help her out. Alexis handled the situation way better than management did. Despite it all, the food was delicious!

There's some parking in front and a ton out back. We decided to eat inside because it was hinting at rain, but there's a cute patio that would be great if the weather was good. Our server, Samantha, was seriously the best! She was friendly, funny, honest, and super approachable. We never felt rushed in any way, and she checked on us just the right amount of times. I decided to try the pad thai as a baseline- definitely passed the test. I had it with shrimp and there were so many shrimp in the dish! It was huge, and the leftovers tasted great the next day. I also love love sushi so I decided to also try the caterpillar roll and the cherry blossom roll. Both were fresh and delicious! One of my friends loves spicy food. Samantha tried to warn her about the spice levels, and my friend determined she wanted what the owners would consider spicy. Samantha then also brought her a tray of additional spicy things. My friend was ecstatic! She added so much more to her food to the point that normal humans would need an ambulance and loved every single bite. Definitely recommend, and I'll definitely be back to try other menu items and enjoy the patio.
