I've been here twice... once for a bachelor party to kick off the weekend and another time a few years later while on a family vacation. Each time was a great experience.... We were on vacation in big bear and saw this spot as we drove through town. We came in and wow!!!! Our party of 6 got three bays and had the best of times. The worker walked us through the safety protocols and let us go at it. He checked on us and gave us some pointers. Even let us take a pic with some awesome axe's. My boyfriend and I had a great time tonight trying to throw some axes. I called around 7:30 hoping for an open spot and they had a slot available at 8pm so we grabbed it! A short walk from where we were staying at the Wolf Creek Lodge. Come in for a great reasonably priced nighttime activity when you are pretty tired from skiing! $30 a person for a $60 total was not a bad vacation activity cost for two for one hour and your arm is tired, an hour is plenty of time. The vibe was relaxed but really fun, they had one of those Punch machine games and some of the groups were having fun with that too! Jeff, the staff member working gave a wonderful demo and took photos of all the groups with these super fun trophy axes for the memory. Even though we were only a group of two we had a great time throwing the hatchets. The experience is definitely worth it if you are looking for something to do after a day on the mountain. read more

Great time! We had a group of 7, booked it on their website same day (early season) Charge is per person and by time like bowling. Super nice guy helped us understand how to play and how to keep safe. No injuries except to the boys egos when the girls beat them several times. I had never been axe throwing. I called this evening around 7:10p.m. The worker said they'll be closing soon last call is at 7p.m...., but he can fit us in for a 30 minute session. Cool little spot. I took my son in, and it was our first time throwing an axe. Worker gave us a complete run down, showed us, and towards the end of our session close to closing. He offered for us to stay the full hour. There was a couple next to us, that he offered that option as well. He was super friendly, professional, attentive, and accommodating. Out in Big Bear going to walk the downtown area to shop. One of the family spotted Axe throwing at Yosemite Axe. Our first impression was "this place is too small to have space on short notice. The family stayed in the car while we scouted it out. The place was rocking, all visible slots were in use. But when we asked, we were told sure, we'll just open the back for you. Can we bring in a dog? Absolutely.... We paid and shuttled the family into the back room with 3 lanes a dartboard and a big Bluetooth speaker so we could rock out and the girls could do homework (on free Wi-Fi) between throws. After our hour was up, we were told there is no one in line, so play until you can't play any more. Lol. We closed them down. The team always super cool, our room was perfect for our needs and we had a blast. I highly recommend this place just because they were so accommodating. Most of the pictures were taken on the way out. It's not often you feel that you must review a company just because the experience was so stellar. This is the time. read more

Such a fun thing to do in Big Bear! I have tried axe throwing before and failed miserably every time, but the top notch group instruction before everyone started their sessions was soooo helpful and easy to understand. I was finally able to not only get the axe to hit the target & stick but even score bullseyes. Now if they just served actual food, just bar food appetizers even, this venue would be perfect! However there is a little diner across the parking lot. Unfortunately we did a later session of axe throwing so missed out on grabbing food there, but other than that this was a great place serving up a really fun activity. We had fun as a family, with my husband and our son. It was my son's birthday and this was his pick for the day. We were easily set up with an online waiver. Prices were reasonable. We had a 9 year old so for kids, 1 hour is plenty! They give a safety and an axe throwing demonstration. It is similar to darts with more "finesse" as they say. Once you got it-it becomes a competition and the fun begins. There's food and drinks to order. No alcohol (obvi). It's great for groups. Kids have to be at least 8. Plenty of room for private parties and walk ins. Key to playing is closed toed shoes! No sandals. Smart. We will be back next year! read more
