Our host, Mark, was absolutely fabulous--friendly, engaging, and made the whole thing even more fun. The wait time was minimal, and once we were set up and went through the safety course, it was game on. The place serves great beer and wine, which was a nice bonus. Food options are limited to chips and jerky, but honestly, they hit the spot. One of the coolest extras is that they have TouchTunes, so you can control the jukebox right from your phone and set the vibe while throwing axes. Set a 'date night' for us to come here for an hour tonight and we had so much fun. Mark was great and we had a blast trying to beat each other's score and try to get the higher bullseye spots on the target. Mark helped us throughout and was available for any questions. This was only our 1st time in an axe throwing location - we did it once at a Huntington Beach festival. I wish there were a few more axes to throw- each lane had two. And my ma went to pull one off the board and it came apart - but now I understand that's usual. He probably wished there was a bar - but after seeing how fast the time flew - buying one drink each was perfect. So - definitely worth it- an hour of fun, nice people and great experience. Had an amazing time!!! We were driving back from the snow and decided to go in here. The best decision ever! It had great vibes and atmosphere. The guy that showed us our spot and the rules also showed my 11 year old how to throw an axe. I was not expecting my son would be much good at it. Turn out after he saw how it was done he became a natural. So for any newbies out there don't worry it can be done. It's a big space are! They do sell alcohol, not sure how you will throw after but hey they have it. This place is more fun than being out in the cold! Can't wait to come back to it! read more

For several years we've enjoyed taking our grandkids to Yosemite Axe Throwing. Our experience began in Mammoth when we they experienced so much snow we couldn't ski, so we found this to keep them occupied. This year was similar at Big Bear. The February snow was horribly wet and we didn't want to ski. So, we went bowling and axe throwing. Mark was very welcoming and gave the kids a refresher on the safety rules. Tonight was a great experience with Yosemite Ax Throwing. Emily was great, friendly, and knowledgeable. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and there were open lanes so she started us early. Emily explained the rules and scoring and we went to work throwing axes and chopping wood. It was three out of the four of our groups first time. Emily was great with our two kids and helped them get their throw down when they were struggling. They serve beer also!! All in all a great time and great experience. One of the best axe throwing venues I've been to! When it isn't busy, you and a partner get your own lane. The targets are nicely soaked tree trunks (instead of plywood at other places). For my first time axe throwing I was so excited to try out Yosemite Axe inside Big Bear! To keep yourself warm and out of the cold, enjoy a full hour ($30) of throwing and shoulder toning If you're a first timer like me, ask for some tips and tricks from staff. I found it easiest to really follow through on your throw and not let go too late. For 2 on a Saturday evening (4pm) there was almost a full house! If you have a bigger group (6+) playing, there's a $5 discount--$25 per person. The service here is amazing and faculty is really nice!
