I feel awful that I can't remember our instructor's name (long beard and ponytail), but that guy is just the best! We brought our son and his friends for a 16th birthday ski trip and this was, by far, the highlight of the trip! Super fun activity . Our instructor, Justin, was amazing. He taught us cool techniques to throw the axe, was very friendly and kept us entertained throughout. We went as a group of 4 on a Saturday evening . The place wasn't crowded , there was just another couple besides us . We had lots of fun in that allocated 30 minute period . Glad we did this on our trip . You need to wear closed toed shoes . If you come in with sandals like my friend did , the instructor would loan you some crocs . We visited Yosemite Axe Throwing today while taking a break from skiing and snowboarding and it was a fun experience! For our family of four we each were able to have our own lane. The price was $30pp per hour. Justin was so helpful, giving us the safety overview, some basics and tips, and then gave us three different axes to throw. Once we started practicing, he gave us more techniques and tips so by the end of our hour we all had our own style to hit the target. Ok this place is a must visit when you visit Mammoth Lakes. The staff are super cool, focused on safety and they let you pick the music so, bonus. They give you a full safety briefing so you feel confident when you're throwing. I didn't think I was going to enjoy it as much as I did. You're pretty much constantly saying, "Next throw." Went here for a bachelor party and had so much fun! Special thank you to Mateo for not only teaching us the techniques for each seven different axes but also making an amazing customer experience. I originally had my appointment scheduled for Friday, but because of the snow storm coming up I was worried we would have to leave mammoth early to prevent us from getting snowed in. Mateo assured me that we could do the axe throwing a couple days before on Wednesday so that we can get the activity ahead of the storm. We noticed this place for the first time because we were staying next door at Outbound Mammoth. I've been wanting to try axe throwing for a while but the place nearest to us at home doesn't allow children. Yosemite allows kids 8 and up, and they even have a little plastic axe throwing game for younger kids! I made a reservation online for the following day. We actually ended up walking over earlier than our reservation since we got done on the mountain and had time to kill, and were able to move our reservation up an hour since there was room. Jonathan was our "instructor" and was so great! My 12 year old had some trouble getting the hang of it, and he took lots of time helping her and giving her tips and different axes to try. It wasn't too busy while we were there, so Jonathan kept coming over and offering us different throwing techniques and even took funny pics for us! It was a really fun way to spend the evening, and more unique and easier to get into than bowling! We will definitely come back next time we're in town!! read more
