I'm 22 years late on my review. I purchased some shoes from Yosemite Bum in 2001. Awesome shoes and awesome service. Back in the day, they sold the shoes individually and you could get different sizes for each foot. I'm not an avid climber and only climb about once a year. I've tried lots of other pairs and always come back to these. The fit is perfect and the soles still give an awesome grip after all this time!!!??? I honestly don't understand. Great quality product. Yosemite Bum was my last shot at trying to resole and boy they did a good job. I've tried other resolers before where the shoe no longer felt like it once did or where I only got about 3 sessions in before it exposed the former hole. These have a wonderful new edge + toe cap while having the comfort of broken in shoes. Price-wise, it's cheaper than my local resolers. I've had 2 pairs of Solutions resoled recently at Yosemite Bum and the quality of the work was excellent. Quick turnaround time, dropped them off on the 8th picked up on the 13th. I was pleasantly surprised after my first pair was resoled, it looked like they used a factory Sportiva sole on them. The Trax rubber performs well and I'm not disappointed that I chose Yosemite to resole my shoes. Normally I choose Positive Resoles to do my work because I want "factory" rubber. First time getting my shoes resoled and I'm completely happy with the result. Having just tried out my newly resoled shoes, they perform like a dream, and I'm kicking myself for not getting them resoled sooner. I stopped by the shop in person and the staff member that assisted me was very helpful in the resoling process. The staff member looked at my shoes, gave me an estimate of how much the work would cost and and also gave me an estimated time it would take to do the actual resoling. A very quick 5 minute process. Once my shoes were resoled I got a call telling me so I could pick them up, and they also gave me the option of having them shipped to my door for $10. Just ask the person working at the front that you're looking to resole your shoes and they'll help you out! Got Black Diamond Momentums and La Sportiva Tarantulas resoled. Great value. Saves me money from buying new shoes and now they don't go to waste. I've used both pairs and they feel great. The soles are as good as new! At first I wasn't sure if the Tarantulas could be repaired, and I emailed them. Kim answered in a short time and helped me figure out that they could be. Sorry, I wanted to love this place like everybody else, but I didn't. I did read their FAQ stating that leather shoes could stretch 1/4-1/2 size, and I did consider that (thinking that they'd try their best to keep it from stretching). But they didn't. The thing is, I've resoled the same shoes at other places numerous times and they've never stretched out. If anything, I usually had to break them in again (which I don't mind since I can get them to the perfect shape). I feel like I can't wear my shoes for climbing anymore because they've stretched out so much :( and I'm super bummed about this. Also, not a huge fan of the rubber they use. I'm surprised they don't have other rubber options. Great prices and turn around time - hence why I decided to try them out + all the great reviews. Unfortunately, my experience didn't turn out so great and now I'm out a pair of shoes :( Maybe I can just use them as trail shoes or something. read more

My experiences with them had been nothing but pleasantry. There's two parts here, one is their resole business, the other is the Evolve retail outlet. They are at the same location. Professional, helpful, and great price. I got my shoes resoled at many place, and by far this is the best. Yes, it helps that I only use Evolve shoes for my narrow feet, but they do such a excellent job on it, that each time the shoes look brand new. Turn around via mail is fast, I got mine back one time after 6 days! Also, I was able to drop off a pair of shoes during my business trip down in Socal recently, when they found out I was in the town for only a few days, they offered expedited service for.... free! I was able to pick up my shoes two days later, saved me some shipping. While I was down here, I scored some high-end shoes at such discounted price, it made my day. I sent my Geshido in for work a couple of weeks ago. Turn around was 2 weeks long which was about as long as I expected it to be. $45 for Midsole and Rand repair, which is the cheaper than most resoles. I sent in my shoes inside their box within another box, as I like to keep my shoes inside their boxes. I did not receive notice of them receiving my shoes despite the tracking confirming they had been delivered. A week passed and no notice, so I emailed them to ask if they got them and they replied that they had them. A week later, I got them back in the mail. Not a box, nor a padded envelope, but a paper thin usps envelope with my shoes inside. It bothered me that they charged me $10 for shipping and they couldn't even use a box. Upon inspection, the shoes were immaculate! The worksmanship was amazing! The soles themselves looked like new and the shoes themselves had been washed and looked like new (except for the scuffs and scratches). I wore the shoes this past week at the gym and the fit is just as good as before I sent them in. The performance is as good as when they were new. Would I recommend them? Hell yeah. Was it a perfect experience? No. These guys still have work to do with customer service. A notice of them receiving the shoes would be nice. A box to protect my shoes during transit would be good, but returning them just as I sent them, with their original box would be even better. I wish I could give them 5 stars based on their work alone, but communication and shipping is also important in running this kind of business and they lacked in both of those areas. read more

I'll do this review in 2 parts... Part 1: My husband and I sent in our climbing shoes for rand replacement and half resoles. We had previously used another company for resoling our shoes and while they did an adequate job, when we received our shoes back this time, I actually held the shoe up and said wow! The workman ship was awesome - besides the telltale seam on the bottom of the shoe, it looked brand new and was virtually seamless. I was extremely pleased with the results and will be using them again. Part 2: One of my shoes was returned with a dime sized hole on the top that went through both the synthetic outer layer and the inner liner. I was pretty angry and couldn't believe that they would return a shoe in this condition. (The hole was definitely not there when I sent the shoe in - I had already resoled them once and wouldn't have bothered to do it again if this hole was there to start with.) I sent a note to their main email address and asked them to make things right. I was pleasantly surprised that an actual person answered my email and while they wouldn't admit fault, they did apologize and agree to take the shoe back and repair the hole free of charge. I'm still not sure how the hole got there, if it was a result of the force needed to remove the old rand or if it got caught on a clamp during the process of putting on the new rand, but their customer service and workmanship has earned them a place as my go-to for climbing shoe resoles. read more

I have resoled my shoes at at least 4 other places that were highly recommended, but none of them compare. Every time I take a pair of shoes there, they do a high quality job. I am now resoling my climbing shoes 3-4 times because yosemite bum does such a good job. They will resole with any rubber you give them, but I tend to use the evolv rubber (they are the evolv people...) due to convenience. The only thing that would be better is if I had an option for la sportiva rubber without providing it myself. I love Yosemite Bum!! read more

Could not be happier! Had Yosemite Bum replace the soles and rands of my La Sportiva Katana climbing shoes. I'd sent a picture of the hole in my climbing shoes to Yosemite Bum and another shoe repair shop. The other shop said the shoes were beyond repair. Yosemite Bum said they'd give it a shot. The shoes just arrived back today (one week turn around!). The shoes were incredibly painful to break in so I was not looking forward to another break in cycle. Tried them on and... perfect! I would give 10 stars if I could. I love Evolv shoes, and I always send my resoles back to Evolv's resole company Yosemite Bum. Recently I called them to see if it would be possible to fix some torn straps on a couple of pairs of Evolv shoes. They did the repairs, along with the resoles, and revitalized two pairs of shoes that would have otherwise been retired. The customer service was excellent, and the work they did was as well. Very positive experience with Yosemite Bum (and by extension, Evolv). The rands of my climbing shoes had to be replaced. I consulted St. Google, and found Yosemite Bum, which is owned by Evolv and is less than 30 miles away from me. I drove there to drop off my shoes, and was told that they would be ready the next day (?!). Sure enough, I got a call the next day informing me that my shoes were ready. The shoes were impeccably repaired, and I couldn't be happier with the result. I just received back my resoled La Sportiva Miuras and Ventors. This makes four pairs of shoes I've had resoled/re-randed by YB, and I continue to be impressed by their turnaround time and workmanship. Plus, I certainly appreciate that they are willing to work/resole shoes other than Evolve's. So now when I'm asked for a resole referral at my home gym in SF (Mission Cliffs) it's a toss-up between YB and the Rubber Room in Bishop, with YB having the faster turnaround time, and maybe better rubber! read more
