Had the insoles and heel replaced and took a chance on some cleaning work that he said would make the shoes look night and day. He was right. My black shoes are restored to shiny, inky black, they are comfortable to wear and will keep going for a while. Quality is excellent. If you have shoes you love and want to preserve, definitely come here. He also restores handbags and I've found him to be honest and upfront about what they can and cannot do. Rather disappointing, so I have to pull back on my previous experience. Recently l took in 3 pair of shoes...it was a bit more costly than I was expecting and then had to wait for a month. The owner misplaced one pair and had to search for it...while the work was completed on my shoes (at least 2 pairs), got them back in rather in a shaggy manner...not polished up even slightly so almost felt like nothing had been done; and it seemed he had to do my misplaced pair rather quickly while I was waiting...mind you after waiting a month. I broke one of my open toed heels and needed it fixed for an upcoming event. I believe it's called the "vamp" part of the heel - the strap that wraps across under your toes. Amazing I needed my zipper repaired and Chan did a great job. They had to take out the broken zipper of my boot which was a very expensive brand with a great leather quality and replace it so I was quite nervous but Chan did a great job. I picked it up and it was almost like brand new and exactly the same as original but the zipper fixed! He also did it a week early since I was moving out of Irvine in two weeks! I highly recommend! I bought a pair of Johnson & Murphy shoes for $50 in 1955 or 70 years ago! For those who don't: these are shoes that presidents wear! They needed soles and heels. I took them in and was told that it would cost $100 IN ADVANCE so I paid it. I went back and wanted some more work done and I had to pay $50 IN ADVANCE which I paid. I asked could you do a small repair on the back outside of my left shoe and he said $50 IN ADVANCE (I said no) . I think the owner got stuck in Shoe Repair School to deal only in multiples of $50 or could it be he saw my J&Ms thinking this old SOB wearing a US Army veterans cap (Korean War) could pay THROUGH THE NOSE. . . !
