The location is great and pretty close to Yosemite's park entrance but the customer service is terrible.They charged me 60 dollar SERVICE ANIMAL FEE(which is completely illegal) and when i asked Ronald for an invoice for that he said it won't print right now but i will have it ready for you at checkout time then at checkout time he says oh I can't have an invoice for it it's sent to expedia(which is completely BS coz he's the one that charged my card when i first arrived it wasn't on my expedia reservation) then he have me a sticky note saying that's all what i can provide Another thing is that there wasn't water to shower or wash ourselves before we check out when we told Ronald about it his words were "Yah people woke up early, took showers and used the water we have". Really enjoyed our weekend getaway here. We have had bad experiences at other inns so we usually take cleaning wipes and our own cover sheets but this place was super clean. The carpet and flooring were clean but still left my feet dirty but it wasn't too much of an issue. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots and pans that can be used and just need to be cleaned afterwards. After the cleanliness the next we really enjoyed was the creek behind the Inn where you can go hangout. It's so peaceful. It's hard to get any phone signal but they give you access to wifi password and it's sufficient to keep you connected with the outside world. read more

In the nutshell he was unwelcoming & his service was off: Minus - 2 Stars I would recommend people to book the place if something else is not available in Yosemite, since 60 mins is still quite far from Yosemite Valley. We stayed at this inn for four nights and loved the place in its natural setting. The room was clean and provided the extra convenience --- on top of the standard microwave and fridge --- of multiple sets of utensils and an extra foldable single bed (which we did take advantage of even though we had a king bed). The windows provided a beautiful view of the creek and surrounding trees. It's pretty close to the Yosemite entrance --- only a 10-minute drive. My only complaint would be the slow internet, but that didn't affect doing usual things on my laptop. read more

Be aware. I just called this hotel and spoke to their Manager, Roland. I advised that I may have been in contact with another person with COVID and I wasn't feeling well. I asked if I cancel my reservations for this weekend and get a refund but refused. He told me that I may have to just come in and possibly infect everyone. I guess they're that desperate. The staff are awesome, very friendly and helpful. We arrived late coming from yosemite and Roland welcomed us with a smile, very cheerful, and was very patient with us in giving us directions to the nearest restaurant as we were very hungry & at the same time also chatted happily about his dogs. I think this is the best place to stay in Groveland where you feel that you are staying in a cabin-like by the river vs hotel/motel yet just 10 min away to restaurants & grocery and close to yosemite. I love the river/creek, so pretty, relaxing & peaceful. Oh and before I forget, this is also the perfect place to stay if you are planning to go to tioga road to tioga pass and hetchy hetchy reservoir. We will be back again!!! This inn hadn't changed much since 7 years ago. We stayed at the same room we stayed then and this year. they've upgraded few features and now have wifi which is a plus when you're in middle of nowhere and still have connection to the outside world. Rooms and things kept very clean and outside area of the inn is very gorgeous. I would love to Coke back again here when/if I come back to Yosemite again. read more

If you have a little bit extra cash in your pocket, then GET A DIFFERENT HOTEL, but if you're desperate, then this is the one for you. The hotel was hard to find at first. You go down the intersection and turn right and go down more. When we first got there, we checked in, and everything was fine. HOWEVER, when we were bringing our luggage into the room, the workers asked us to leave the room so they can CHANGE THE PILLOW COVERS AND THE BED SHEETS. NOTE our check in time was 3 PM and check out time at the inn is 11 AM. 4 hours to clean the bed sheets and covers and that did not happen until we got there. After they left, and we got all our luggage in, we checked the kitchen area. NOTE: we had to pay extra for this kitchen section: a "deluxe" version. The dishes that were provided for us were NOT CLEANED AT ALL. They had dust and stains that were washable, but left for us to do the dirty work. Unprofessional. We opened the fridge and the freezer section had ice cream, probably from the previous guests. Didn't change our bed sheets NOR clean the dishes/fridge? Did they even bother to clean the room for their new guests? Heater worked fine, if you decide to stand next to the heater the whole night. To summarize, the room was extremely cold at night. We went to the front office to ask for an extra blanket for us. The person who answered the door was EXTREMELY RUDE TO US. Excuse us, I'm trying to survive the night without freezing to death! He asked us if we were "even guests at the inn"....we even told him our room number, and he still questioned us. Is that the first thing you are worried about? He told us to check the drawers? Ok, but can a blanket fit your tiny drawers? We went back to check, and alas, NO BLANKETS! Only pillow covers. Thanks a lot. Pillow covers will save the day! Water was extremely cold. Took awhile to heat up. Window shutters left holes. Walls were slightly stained. Room was small in general. The WiFi was an extra $5. It did not work very well, but convenient since there is literally no connection up there. The drive is about an hour or so away from the Yosemite National Park. Pricing was $150 or so, but it was not worth the experience there. Book one that's a little bit more pricier if you want a more memorable trip!!!!! The next day, we checked out, and returned the key. They told us to not leave any trash in the room, and to clean our dishes....do you let your guests do the dirty work? Doesn't paying for a inn or hotel include cleaning services too? Besides, the dishes were dirty in the FIRST PLACE. Altogether, DO NOT BOOK THIS INN if you are willing to spend a little bit extra for a NICER OVERALL EXPERIENCE. If you are on a TIGHT budget and only care about a PLACE TO SLEEP, then this is your place. read more

If you love sleeping amongst giant pubes from strangers, this place is for you! We arrived at about 2 in the afternoon, had to push a doorbell and wait for front desk. The guy that checked us in was rude at best. He seemed like he didn't want to deal with us, like maybe we interrupted what he was doing. We booked thru Expedia and their website told us they offer free continental breakfast and wifi. I asked what the wifi password was and was told he couldn't tell me until I pay him $5.00! What?!?! Ok, I need internet so I paid. He also told us they only do continental breakfast when they're booked. Well, there was a NO VACANCY sign posted so.....not sure but there was also no breakfast. The property was run down but I'd booked this room a couple weeks in advance so there was no going back. I was committed to this room. I walk in and it looked like a room I might pay $40.00 for, not $150.00. Had a microwave from 1970 the "Sandwich Master 7 D". SCARY Went back out to my car to get the rest of my things and I step in dog shit. They have animals (cats and dogs) running around. They do not believe in picking up after them. Nothing like scraping shit out of your shoe tread w a stick. Nice! After I got everything in I went to town (10 miles opposite direction from Yosemite-just stay closer to the town of Groveland where you can eat). Ate and the food in town was pretty good, back in the hotel I shower. First thing I noticed pubes in the toilet paper! Yuck-then I take a shower and a MONSTER PUBE (5 inches long!) was on the bath mat! Gross! Bugs in the corner of the bathroom, actually only spiders but there was a heap of dead bugs under theirweb. They don't clean this motel AT ALL. Then I turn in, pull the sheets down, stained and MORE MONSTER PUBES!!! God speed me a hazmat suit, please!!!!! The towels are like sand paper, the two mugs offered were not clean. They had chunks of crud in them. The decor reminded me of The Golden Girls....very 80s fab and NOT in a good way. The heater was a plug in dura flame that would vibrate so badly it woke us up numerous times in the middle of the night. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere, ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! read more

Well I loved 2 of our rooms by the lake. It was a peaceful and relaxing stay. I agree with other yelpers... I Dont know why people would come to Yosemite expecting to stay at a luxurious hotel.... Hellooooo... Aren't we suppose to take trips like these to get in touch with nature? And simply enjoy the simple life our wonderful earth has for us. Anyway great place! Nice people working here and managing the place. Shower was perfect.. No complains on the hot water. We forgot to bring a cooler (for our beer;) hehe) but it got cold outside since it was a bit chilly during the evening. Just last week. Perfect! March/April. Bring your own towels for those who would complain about the towels. (Just a tip) The restaurants were a few miles drive. So that was pretty convenient for our hungry bellies. We didn't stay after seeing the room, tried to negotiate the non refundable rate with the manager and explained as two women we were not comfortable not having a phone and with the state of the room. Said he couldn't negotiate so we dealt with our credit card on it. Room has dirty bed and bathroom, mildew on shower curtain, lack of phone and internet was mentioned after signing at check in. The office smelled of mildew, it is by a river but also detected a urine smell and there is a restaurant here that only serves breakfast. When pulling in there are two trailers and many dogs, there are men that appeared to be drinking and over interested in what room we were staying in. The people working there were so nice with fantastic customer service. We had a cute room on the bottom floor. Outside our door was a rocking chair overlooking the river. Surrounded by trees, it was beautiful. I walked into the room and instantly was amazed with how clean it was. My only complaints about the room were the shower and the noise. The shower needed some upkeep and we could hear the people upstairs walking around. There was a complimentary breakfast. It was small and they ran out of hot chocolate. But they had a variety of basic things you'd eat at home to choose from. I was expensive and unlike what you'd get for that price somewhere else. But if you are just outside of yosemite and you need somewhere to stay, I'd stay here again. Mostly because of the sweet people running the place and the location of it. Like I said, I felt like it was clean aside from the needed upkeep of the shower. Location and availability is what you're paying for. This is a step above camping and one of the few places near Yosemite available. This is what you'd expect from an independently owned non-chain motel. There is no AT&T cell coverage and wifi offered is only allegedly good for email and light surfing. I stayed there on one weeks notice the week of July 4th. With more time I would stay elsewhere but I don't regret my stay. Location to Yosemite is excellent. read more

A hotel that charges $189 a night for a super small room should have shower curtains without mildew at the bottom. Ugh! Free WiFi would help too. $10.00 a night at those nightly room rates is not cool. Also, be warned, all the cute little paper things at the check-in counter are super religious - found out in 45 seconds that I'm doomed to hell. Maybe that's why I found an ant in my Reuben at Buck Meadows restaurant (reviewed as well). Just my opinion on the matter. PS - the setting is cool, just don't eat at the recommended Buck Meadows Restaurant unless you are excited to try an ant in your sandwich. read more

The motel is located 15 minutes from the Yosemite gates, and about an hour from the valley floor. The location worked out perfectly, as we found our choices in the park itself and surrounding areas were quite limited. Upon arrival the motel is cute, it has a very country feel and the surroundings are beautiful. The inside of our room... well... it could use some love. The comforter set was really old and the throw pillows all had holes and tears in them. The most unfortunate thing about our stay was that there was no showerhead... so water just sprayed out like a garden hose. When you're out hiking all day, you look forward to coming back and taking a nice, hot shower, but the shower was terrible and we got in and out as fast as possible. They offer wifi for $5, or it's free if you pay for the room in cash. Signal was good in the room. They do offer a continental breakfast, consisting of toast, danishes, cereal, oatmeal... etc. but we ended up going down the street to the diner to get something a little more hearty for our day of hiking. The woman behind the desk, Blythe, was very nice and gave us all sorts of information about the park which we really appreciated. Overall, the place wasn't terrible, however for the money we spent I expected it to be nicer. read more

I read nothing but bad reviews about this place after booking the room and was expecting the worst. I must say that I was more than pleasantly surprised. This hotel is absolutely fine - not dirty, nothing bad about it at all! The only reason that I am not giving it five stars is due to the price - it was a little overpriced. We stayed in the main building, room 38. We didn't book a suite but were lucky enough to get put in one (this did make it worth the money). The suite was amazing, three rooms!! The complimentary breakfast was good, included English muffins, which always keeps me happy. The front desk people were wonderful and helpful. It is NICE and close to the park - way closer than the town of Groveland itself. The hotel is pretty and set on a river. It's just lovely. I was told that the hotel had changed hands and maybe this is why there were bad reviews before, but now good ones. Try it out!! I think you will be perfectly happy!! The wifi was free and worked well. There was no cell phone reception, but that's just fine with me. read more

We were very happily surprised by the friendliness of the desk guys, David and Rowland! Young guys but they knew their stuff and gave us great directions and info on Yosemite!! The room was really clean, bed was comfy and we had a lovely river right outside the room to listen to at night! This location was perfect for our first trip to Yosemite! The price was right for us! Very nice location, beautiful and very scenic. The staff ( single person) was very supportive. We stayed in their executive suite which is priced at $300 a night. Our overall experience was that the places infrastructure and location is good but the room amenities and housekeeping is very poor. We had to ask for basic things like towels and glasses. The fireplace and the oven did not work even after being attended to. The biggest drawback was missing shower curtain! It was a disaster with five people using same shower! The management needs to look into all this immediately. I am sorry to say that I will hesitate to refer it to any one. read more

Love love love this place. Stayed here for 5 days in June 2017 and already have the same suite booked for a full week June 2018! This isn't a Best Western or something, so don't come with that in mind. This is exactly the type of place I think of staying when I think of Yosemite. Small, quiet, cabin type feel. The suite we stayed in was lovely, furniture was a bit older but it just added to the feeling of the place. We could see the stream from out enclosed deck, every morning we watched a family of geese walk by, butterflies, birds, it was great for my 1 year old. Wi-Fi and tv wasn't the best but is that really what you're coming here for? Was about 15 minutes to Yosemite entrance and another 30 minutes to the valley, so a short commute but nothing like coming from Groveland. The staff was great, location beautiful, can't really think of anything to complain about! read more

My family loved this place! The staff was so friendly and helpful; especially Blythe. It turned out to be an 8 1/2 hour drive from Southern California and we didn't make it in until midnight. I called ahead to let them know we would be checking in late,and Blythe waited up for us and gave us directions until we lost cell service. I heard visitors complaining about the lack of cell service and internet service but it we didn't mind- hey, I go on vacation to get away from all of that. The rooms are comfortable and for a liitle more expense, open into really nice suites complete with a full kitchen. The inn has a log cabin feel and they have rustic glider chairs on the porches in front of the rooms. The inn overlooks a beautiful creek- great for fishing and tubing with kids. Nearby were some great easy hikes to fun swimming holes and waterfalls. Don't miss the Cowboy breakfast horseback ride about 1/2 hr away at Mather Saddle and Pack station on the way to Hetch Hetchy. We had such a good time that we didn't make it to Yosemite until the day we left. We can't wait to go back again next year !!! read more

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend and were so pleased we plan to go back hopefully this summer. The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. We had an amazing view of the river and a nice glider on the covered patio for us to sit on and enjoy the wilderness sounds and stunning scenery. Everyone working there was polite. There were some lovely waterfalls not too far from there that we hiked to. It was refreshing to get away and I am already looking forward to doing it again. read more

We booked this hotel based on the fact that it was 10 minutes from Yosemite (see hotel website homepage--boasting about being the place to stay close to Yosemite for your Yosemite vacation). However, between booking the hotel and our trip, the road to Yosemite from the hotel was closed due to storm damage. The hotel is now no less than 2.5 hours from Yosemite! We are barely closer than if we stayed in our own home! Upon realizing this, it was 5 days before our check-in date. I called he hotel to cancel because this hotel will obviously not work for us--being a 5 hour drive round trip into the park and back to the hotel each day. But the extremely rude and arrogant hotel manager that I spoke to refused to make an exception to their 7 day cancelation policy! We were 2 days shy of that. He went on about how the closure information is available on the internet. Of course the info is there--you know, if you're specifically trying to figure out (more than a week in advance of your trip) if there have been road closures causing a 2.5 hour difference in your drive time! The hotel sent no email notification of this HUGE inconvenience and the manager arrogantly said that since we still have a guaranteed room available they have no other responsibility to us. I completely understand that the closure is outside of their control and it probably totally sucks for their business, but if they were completely unwilling to make an exception to the cancellation policy, he could have at least been a little kinder and more understanding about the fact that our Yosemite vacation is now going to be ruined by this. Of course throughout the whole time their website still falsely states that they are 10 minutes from Yosemite. This guy is a JERK. I wish I had gotten his name but I was too upset at how disrespectfully and heartlessly he talked to me, his customer! read more

I'd have given 3.5 stars if they allowed it. It's not quite 4 stars and not quite 3 stars. First, the good part...the scenery! There is no place like it around. You walk outside in the morning with a big cup of coffee and it's just surreal looking. The huge open lodge with giant hand hewn poles makes you feel like you're in some Lord of the Rings movie...especially at night sitting in front of the fireplace that you could practically drive a car through! Now, the bad part...the rooms and price! The rooms were very, very basic and need to be updated badly. The comforter and pillows felt and looked like they were from the 1800's...it just felt extremely dated in the small rooms. We paid +$400 per night, too! The food was okay, but nothing to rave about. I was taking my grandson from Costa Rica to Yosemite and booked it thru the national park reservation system for a one night stay in early July... I (falsely) expected they knew where they were booking me into since we had two reservations with them for the two hotels in the park and the pricing was similar... major mistake and I did not double check on line. Do your self a favor if you cannot get into a park hotel and drive to the nearest city for a real hotel. First of all, my first impression was that this was a trailer park since their were old trailers parked in front. This motel looks like a motel from the sixty's that has not been kept up. The room was worn, shabby furnishings, the bathroom was not clean and the air conditioning so loud you had to turn it off to sleep. The breakfast was not worth the time to mention. I asked for a king bed because there were no twins for us and they added $50 for a room upgrade. I am way to embarrassed to say what I paid for the room in addition to the park reservation $25 fee but suffice to say I did not spend anywhere near what I was charged for this room in six weeks touring the western US parks, etc. All other stays were with Hilton properties (Hamptons) and never paid more than 60% of what I was charged for this room and most of the Hilton's were either recently refurbished or new hotels. In fact, I paid more for this room than the Yellowstone Big Trees Lodge in the park. This place is in a terrible location with no redeeming benefits to a traveler other than saving you a 30 min drive to a real hotel. I stayed here last weekend with my husband and a couple friends. We reserved the KQQ Suite, also shown on some websites as the Executive King Suite. The suite consisted of 2 bedrooms (1 with a king bed and 1 with a queen), a living room with fireplace and couch that could be folded out into another queen size bed, 1 bathroom, and a small kitchen. The rooms were very nice and clean, and the bathroom was huge! There was no tub, but a very long tiled shower. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and pots and pans for cooking, but the one thing we needed that wasn't supplied was paper towels. Not a big deal, but they would have been handy. A large notice was posted on the fridge that dishes must be cleaned after use, or a $30.00 charge would be incurred. We only used a couple plates and bowls, so no worries there. The grounds were beautiful with the river running right behind the lodge. I noticed in a prior review that someone complained about the animals on the property. The managers do have pets that several times were spotted wandering on the grounds. We saw one large very friendly yellow cat, a chihuahua, and a black and white terrier. There was also a white pit bull chained on the hillside near the office. The dog growled when neared, so we kept our distance. He was never seen roaming like the other dogs thankfully. I really enjoyed staying at this inn, but it does have a couple quirks that some may not be happy with. One is that the bathroom is located to the side of the king bedroom. The queen bedroom is two rooms away toward the back of the unit. In order to use the bathroom, the occupants of the queen bedroom have to cross into the king bedroom. This didn't bother us, but some people might feel a little uncomfortable with the set up. Another thing is that the queen bedroom is basically an enclosed patio with windows overlooking the river. A dining table occupies one end of the room. It's a bit of a strange set up, but we ate out and never used the table for dining anyway. Overall, the place is very well kept and quiet. It was nice to be outside of the crowds in Yosemite yet close enough to visit the part if we chose. read more

I booked this hotel because everything else was booked. Then I read the reviews and almost died - they were horrible! I called the manager and asked, "Is your place really that bad??" He assured me it was nice. I'm glad I stayed at the Riverside Inn. It was simple, but clean, included breakfast, the manager was VERY helpful, and the location - right by the river - was wonderful. We relaxed on their rocking chairs both nights, listening to the rush of the water and looking up at the stars. I'd stay there again. read more

This place deserves no stars. We found it last minute on hotels.com after deciding not to stay in Yosemite Valley, because we have a one year old and were concerned about the Hantavirus outbreak. 1. This place is not close to Yosemite Valley 2. The property is very rundown and under maintained, which is sad because it has so much potential 3. The towels felt like sandpaper and the one little tiny packet of shampoo was impossible to open & left my hair feeling like straw 4. There were cigarette butts and a coke can left on our patio from the previous guests, so we knew it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly 5. The kids "park area" had chains hanging from the bar with no swings 6. There was a huge pile of ash right on the property within view from our room where it seems they take out all the trash/waste and burn it there 7. There were yellow (pee-like) stains on the bed sheets 8. The water tasted and smelled like sewage 9. The continental breakfast consisted of wonder bread/ fruit loops and artificially flavored yogurt. What I imagine was the absolute cheapest junk they could find. 10. The foam coffee cups were about 3 inches tall, like they were made for espresso - we had to refill them several times to get the equivalent of one regular size cup of coffee. 11. The staff was very unfriendly and barely made eye contact with us when we checked in. 12. They charge $5 for Wi-Fi and only one user per room can log in at a time. 13. It is ridiculously overpriced at $169 per night. The absolute WORST was when my husband and I overheard what I can only assume was management gloating about how they had shaved $100 off the towel company costs. They even discuss how cheap they are within earshot of their guests!! As I said earlier, it's very sad because the location is beautiful & has so much potential. The location and scenic views of the river were awesome. The Inn is a little dated with the old tube TV and wallpaper. Hey, are you going there to checkout the room or are you visiting Yosemite? My wife and I had a nice conversation with the manager. I thought the review about the cops hating manager was hilarious. What's that having to do with anything? I will definitely stay here again if I visit Yosemite. It's only 30 mins out and sure as hell beats camping. If you are looking for 5-star hotels with high-speed internet access and all-you-can-eat breakfast, then look elsewhere. If you need a decent place to sleep and shower nearby Yosemite, this is the place to choose. read more

We arrived late at night and the staff was very helpful. Even though we confused our reservation, they helped us out. The room was clean and well-appointed. King-size bed was very comfortable. We left a personal pillow there, called the next day, and they mailed the pillow to us! Great service, very clean, quiet, and good value. Would stay there again! read more

I wish I could have given this place half a star. We found it on hotels.com, and in July it was one of the few motels close to Yosemite National Park that had vacancies. The price was $130 a night and was supposed to include free wi-fi. When I asked the motel owner for the sign-in code, he informed me that wi-fi was not free and we'd have to pay an extra $10. Even after paying the extra charge, we were never able to get on the internet at all. The AC is in the bathroom, and you therefore have to leave the bathroom door open all night. The window next to the AC is opaque and has no curtain and at 5:30 a.m. the dawn light starts permating the bedroom. The room was not very clean, and the towels were like sandpaper. The temperature was nearly 100 degrees every day, and every day the maid would turn off the AC when she cleaned the room. We would return to a hot room every afternoon. It most certainly was NOT worth the amount of money we had to pay to stay there. STAY AWAY. read more

I wish 0 stars was an option. This place has so much potential, the location is off the road and on the river... BUT the room was disgusting. I understand if you wanna charge $50 a night.. I would pay it everyday and every time I went there but nooo, triple that at the least. I understand being in the woods and having some bugs, but holy crap. There were spider webs and spiders in the room that have obviously been there for a while. It is not that hard for housekeeping to clean that out before a guest arrives. There was a dog (I'm guessing the mangers) that would NOT stop barking in the early morning. Very hard to sleep. We also had one of the staff walk in on us while we were sleeping in the morning. I understand mistakes happen but he didn't even knock and my boyfriend clearly yelled "HELLO, can I help you?" when he was unlocking the door. They need to invest in an inside lock or "do not disturb" sign.. Because clearly the guy was as startled as we were to see us. I called to speak to a manager about it (who was EXTREMELY RUDE) and all he wanted to do was fire the employee and would only return my money if it came out of the maintenance guys check who accidentally came in because they told him we had already checked out.
