Excited that we have a new sushi restaurant! Our sushi-loving friends joined us and absolutely loved everything. We split veggie gyoza and shrimp shumai apps. I loved that the gyoza was different than others I've had. For dinner, I got the mango salmon roll and a king dragon roll. I then ordered a regular salmon roll and a fire roll to split with our table. My husband enjoyed the yaki udon. My bff and I agreed that the showstopper sushi roll was the mango salmon roll. Amazing! The kind waitress gave all of us a complementary drink in a bottle that's meant to be friendly on the gut. I thought that was a lovely gesture. Our friends have departed back to South Carolina. Came here on a Friday night, just my husband and I. When entering, a staff member greeted and told us to sit anywhere. I picked the table that has the plates that are nicely set since the rest of the empty tables did not have that. The place is nice and clean. In general, the service was slow. It took a while to get water for the table and also when ordering. Takoyaki Tempura - It was actually good. It was nice and hot when taking a bite of it. Went well with the tarter sauce. And did not cheap you out on the octopus. Love Boat for 2 ($99) - It took about 40 minutes to wait. (I saw 5 tables that came after me got their appetizers and meals and about 20+ takeout orders.) The sever didn't check on us or didn't let us know how much time it will complete making. We were the last table to get the meal and finish the meal. It was a beautiful presentation of the wooden boat. When I was chewing one of the nigiri, it had a bone in it. The sashimi is nicely fresh. The rolls were great. It also came with Miso soup. We got the lunch special - 2 rolls to go and an appetizer (heart attack). Appetizer was very tasty, but the rolls we got were average (spicy crunchy tuna and spicy crunchy salmon). I did a lunch order for takeout since this is a mile from my office... I did the three roll special (I was unsure if I'd be able to finish it but... I did!). They had it ready right on time to the minute of my anticipated pick up time. the restaurant was cute and looked pretty spacious but I didnt go past the front desk. When I got back to my office, the rolls were plump and tightly rolled which made for easy eating. They packed me a miso soup (yum!) and were thoughtful to have it in a separate bag so it wouldnt warm/change the rolls. The order was placed online to be picked up and was very easy to navigate. The menu had mostly sushi, but also had other options such as teriyaki and rice dishes. They also had a discount if an order was placed online for the first time. The food was ready upon arrival and placed on a table inside the front of the establishment. It was part of a mini strip mall with multiple eating spots. I tried 6 different sushi rolls and my thoughts on each are below. Alaska Roll ($6) - This was a standard roll with salmon, cucumber, and avocado. It was tasty and appeared fresh, no complaints. Mango Avocado Roll ($6) - The sweetness of the mango went well with the pieces of avocado, appropriate balance. Godzilla Roll ($11) - This was a deep-fried roll with eel, avocado, salmon, tuna with dried shaved bonito and eel sauce. This was fishy at first, but it grew on me as I kept eating it. The odd smell of the bonito could have thrown me for a loop, which I could see why the roll appeared fishy initially. Yoshi Roll ($12) - This had tuna, salmon, white tuna, avocado, tobiko and was soy wrapped with masago on top. These pieces were larger than the rest of the rolls it appeared. The roll as a whole was ideal, nice, and traditional. Martinsville Roll ($12) - This had spicy tuna on top and filled with tuna, salmon, and masago. This was again very good, simple, and light. Spicy Ocean Roll ($14) - This consisted of a spicy scallop on top with seared spicy tuna, smelt roe, and scallion with an eel and spicy mayo sauce. This was my favorite because the presence of the sauces and the spice from the multiple items that were spicy. There was just great flavor here. There was also a kani salad present. This was a nice touch with a bit of heat to it too. Will I go back? I would. read more

The sushi is inconsistent. Some nights, it's the best in the area. Other nights, you wonder why your sushi special is filled with nothing but Tuna. Tonight, it wasn't about the sushi but the service. We decided to order take out and do a family movie night. After picking up and getting home (15min) we found a hair rolled into the sushi. None of us had that hair color, so it definitely wasn't one of ours. You can see in the attached video of us pulling it out of the roll. Upon calling them, they asked us to bring the Sushi for 3 Platter back, which we did (another 15min) Their response was a visual inspection and said the rest of it is good to eat and gave us a replacement roll for where we found the hair and sent us on our way. All in all, we are now staring at the platter that very much had hair in it, and an hour after it's been made. The reaction from us? "No more Yoshi" that is one heck of a way to treat a customer that dropped over $100 on a quiet Sunday on takeout. read more

The hospital I work at is in the area so this is our go to sushi spot for delivery when we have time to order. The sushi is fresh and amazing. When we order, I always get the sushi roll (either two rolls or three rolls) lunch special with miso soup. It is very reasonably priced especially for the great quality. I always demolish the sushi so I forget to take a picture, but I always order the eel avocado, shrimp tempura and or spicy salmon. I haven't been able to dine in because I don't get much of a break but they delivery fairly quick! read more

The menu has a lot of options but is not overwhelming. If you're someone who goes for sushi, but orders the chicken teriyaki be prepared. This is truly a sushi (only) restaurant. We ordered the love boat for 2, angry dragon, spicy ocean, fire, Yoshi and Alaskan rolls. Apps were spring rolls and edamame. We were hungry! They have authentic hot green tea which was a nice touch. I would strongly recommend to train the young wait staff to check on customers a bit more. There wasn't a lot of customers. Maybe 4-5 tables at a time max. Pandemic takeout Japanese sounded a bit adventurous to me, especially since I am a lover of Japanese cuisine, having travelled there almost monthly over several decades. The online order system is quite nice, so easy to use. I would have loved to see hi-resolution images of their food and locally presentation of their food in high quality to-go-ware. This is not like a high volume, high-heat wok-a-ria all-you-can-eat sushi by the bucket....this is very lovely well thought out and cheerfully, pridefully hand delivered to our vehicle, after a short call to a busy but accommodating staff! We got the test-food: california roll (just baselining with basics) and OK, it is very good, except we know most of us can make it very good, but the rice was right, as was the remaining ingredients. Salmon Teriyaki, Miso Soup, Salad - all spot-on with veggie fried rice. Also, got Beef Heshi, just to see what it was and not only was the beef terrific, tender, grizzle-free, but plentiful with friend rice and green beans...50% volume was this pleasantly marinated, grilled beef! Winner. I did not see the inside, but the food was Japan style, sophisticated but simple, fresh and clean tasting and availed to us by wonderfully engaging, proud and very honorable people! Next round at Yoshi Sushi will be full course to go for 4 - 6 people and we will have a big bottle of OTOKO Yama, ("Mountain Man" Sake). Thank you Yoshi Sushi, we love it when we find great product sourcing and wonderful preparation and execution...your front staff is lovely and competent!! Yoshi Sushi is a big winner in round one!! AMAZING FOOD!!!!! Wish I could dine here. Unfortunately due to COVID19 dining in will take some time to come back. However I ordered through doordash and I was not disappointed. My favorite dish is the shrimp tempura rolls and the Beef Yaki Meshi (which is kinda like habachi beef fried rice, except much more flavorful). The chicken Yaki Meshi is equally amazing as well I had that on a prior order. I also have to say the seaweed salad is absolutely delectable! I usually hate getting any kind of sushi from delivery service especially "Shrimp Tempura" because when it is packaged the heat in the container causes it to sweat and get soggy. However I haven't had this type of experience since they keep everything in separate containers. I will def. be ordering here many more times to come it's now my #1 go too for sushi!
