Charlie, Brian and company do amazing work. My car has been an utter mess, coolant leaking everywhere, pump failing and just completely unreliable. I took it to the dealership on a Saturday and after getting a quote for 2200$ said no thanks. I found M Power Motors thankfully and had the car towed there, they did the work for a fraction of what the dealership was asking for and didn't try to get me to fix things that weren't even broken to begin with unlike other places. In addition, my car also had some obscure electrical issues that are practically impossible to diagnose, they managed to fix all that as well. Most importantly they do real honest work, Brian showed me where the problems were and weren't and I trust these guys 100% If you need a shop that knows what they're doing, are honest and actually care about their clients, this is the shop you need to go to. Update 7/3/2018: I wish I could give Charlie, Brian and co another 5 star because again, they did amazing work repairing a leaky OFHG with again the most competitive pricing and attention to detail that anyone could ask for. Well, I have plenty of complaints and histories to tell about this shop. I don't believe their are dishonest but when their mistakes cost me money and they take their responsibility away. The name M power is almost a bad joke in my opinion because Brian ( mechanic) is not an expert in M cars. Between YouTube videos to try to solve my smg pump problems unsuccessfully and having me keep coming back with the same problem and making me felling like a burden to have fix what I already pay to be fixed. In the end what I've got was rude phone calls when I called out on this type of thing. They are definitely cheaper than other places and for oil change and small stuff maybe would work for other people. But if you need some major and technical issues I don t recommend. I'm stuck with a car with smg ( transmission) problem that sometimes work sometimes don't work that I've spend thousand of dollars between parts and labor. Watch out. read more

I couldn't get home fast enough to write this amazing review about Charlie and CM Power Motors. First off- this is my first yelp review because I have never felt so strongly about a business until now. I have a 328i BMW 2007. Months ago I took my car into University Automotive because my rear window wouldn't work. $120 "diagnostic test" (a computer) later, they told me it was $600 worth of repairs on that window. No thank you, put the window up and I'll get a second opinion later. Just this week my driver side window started doing the same thing: time for that second opinion. And that's what lead me to Charlie. Think of Charlie like a doctor: you can look at lab numbers all you wAnt, but you need the history of the patient and to assess the patient before you start making diagnosis. Charlie told me to bring the car in and assessed my car. and you know what he found? My child lock button for my windows was in a weird position that it was causing my windows to not let me put them all the way up or down with one press of the button. So where the heck did university automotive get $600 of repairs from??? Charlie talked me through what was expected/needed for the car in the next 20,000 miles. 25 years experience, Charlie knows his stuff, but also wants to educate clients on their own cars as well. The staff there was amazing as well, and did a quick fix on my "angel" headlight (did I get that name right Charlie?). I was recently on the path of wanting to sell my car, but I found out it wasn't the car that was the problem, it was the auto shop (expect my second review on yelp to be not such a nice one for university automotive). I would like to add my voice to the chorus singing the praises of Brian and Charlie. I was at Yosemite (Tuolumne Meadows) when the "check engine" light came on. Since I'm traveling, I needed to find a new repair center nearby. After reading the Yelp reviews, I drove to M Power. One of the best decisions I've made. They had me back on the road in 90 minutes, including an oil change. If I lived in Sacramento, M Power would be the only guys I'd want to service my 1994 325. They like her almost as much as I do. If you want the best for your 'baby', you can't do better than Brian and Charlie. Note: Changing to 5 stars, even though it implies no improvement possible -- they could have internet. Started with sticker shock with the estimate that the dealer gave me on repairs including a leaking steering rack that was going to cost $5800 installed. Found M-Power and gave them a try. First thing was he told me the rack did not need to be replaced, it was just a loose hydraulic connection. he did all the repairs necessary for 20% of the cost the dealer was going to charge! I located M Power Motors by their listing in the Yellow Pages. I found a used BMW Z3 and was seeking a good mechanic to inspect the car prior to purchase. Charlie and Brian both inspected the vehicle from top to bottom and showed me exactly what was wrong and things that needed repair now and others that would require maintenance down the line. They did this at a very reasonable price. After purchase of the vehicle they repaired the most urgent things. They also did an oil change, steam cleaned the engine, and replaced the valve caps on the tires. I think they knew that I had a lot of pride in ownership of this vehicle and wished to make it look its best. Charlie and his staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. Their labor rates are very fair. My "check engine" warning recently illuminated. I went to Charlie and he had my car inside the shop within 5 minutes. Once on the lift, the problem was discovered and pointed out to me. A screw to a wheel sensor was missing, thus causing the warning light A previous mechanic neglected to replace the screw after working on the car. Also, about 2 weeks ago, he fixed a problem related to my vehicle's control arm that was misdiagnosed by the same prior mechanic. Charlie has saved me over $425 by fixing someone else's misdiagnosis (true story). Even the restroom was surprisingly clean. M Power Motors definitely has my vote. Persistence. That is just one word I can use to describe the service we received from Charlie. Sit back, this is a short story with a good ending. My daughters 2008 528i would not start one night after work. We had it towed the next day to M Power Motors. Charlie ran the diagnostics and determined it was a faulty starter. He changed it and it started. That night same thing. It wouldn't start and left her stranded at school. Towed it back to mpm. Now it showed that a module was faulty and he replaced it. It started and on Charlies test drive it wouldn't re start and he had to get it towed back to his shop. I'm sure he was losing sleep over this. He called me and suggested we take it to the dealer because they have access to the worldwide database of mechanical problems. It actually started and she drove it to Niello BMW in Elk Grove. They kept it for six days and determined it was a bad starter. I called Charlie and he didn't agree with that but said he would honor his warranty and replace it. We had it towed back to mpm. He replaced the new starter with a new starter. It started up and the following day after she got off work, that's right. Didn't start! So, we know that Niello was wrong. We are now out of tows on our aaa card. Luckily her boyfriend had aaa and we had it towed back to mpm. The following day Charlie called me. His tone was different, almost like he had a smile of relief. He said he decided to ground the engine and it started. They put it up on the lift and found four motor mount bolts broken. The problem was that everything was grounded to the motor but the motor wasn't grounded to the chassis. It has been starting every time now. Whew! what a relief. I was a customer for 6 years, and the work has been fine. The main mechanic is knowledgeable and personable. Too bad he doesn't run this place, because the owner is lacking in customer service skills beyond what I've ever experienced. Charlie is sloppy with the paper work and rarely gave me a written quote, mostly only a verbal quote which rarely panned out to be accurate. Many times when I've returned to pick up my car, the bill was larger than what I was quoted verbally. Enough is enough, so today I went to DRJ Performance (1725 33rd Street) for the first time. They were great and professional. Written quote, follow up phone calls to confirm repairs needed and a ride to and from my house when dropping off my car. It is difficult to not only find someone who is good at what they do but it is damn near impossible to find one that is honest. I had neglected my BMW for many months for the fear of the usual scowl I receive when I pull into a shop with my car. I understand most repair shops dislike working on European Cars, that is why I only take it to someone who enjoys and makes his living servicing these delicate pieces of machinery. Most people that have been to the shop will probably describe Charlie (the owner) as charismatic with a little edge (you'll understand when you meet him, lol). He is an honest man and will tell you exactly what needs to be done right now and what things can wait. He's not the guy to try to weasel you into doing things on your car to get as much money out of you as possible. Everything is reasonably priced and he wont do anything to your car unless he has your consent. I now don't trust my car with anyone else but Charlie. These people, mainly Mr. Brian Ingram and his partner, some Arabian guy doing the invoices on hand writing, have a very smart business running here, ...yes, they are very good at telling what your car has and has done lately and they charge you for every step of the way, ...no problem so far. My car had a sensor going down and some air conducts malfunction, on top of that "somebody did not put the right oil filter" and so ii had to be changed, oil flushed and me paying for such discovery. ...OK again ...I needed the engine light off and so was charged with a sensor, air conducts replaced, oil replaced, filter changed, labor and that's it. I was charged $300.00. The engine light went off though the car did not feel better after all. ....So I said, I'm selling this shit (X3 -2010) and I found a buyer three weeks later, this was a nice lady, and on her money she takes the car to a shop of her trust and in my eyes the mechanic shows me the oil was never changed, the oil filter was still the same old one it had, according to the use the filter had that by no means could have been changed in the last three weeks, and last but not least, they found a made up piece of rubber tube doing a short cut from one air sensor to a second one to avoid a proper repair, ....very smart. The problem is these two from M Power Independent BMW Service can't imagine how smart other people can be and I'll just wrap saying, I've been busy but they are going to pay me back for this fraud. ...in the meantime if you like being stolen, go visit these thieves at 7500 14th Avenue, Suite B Sacrament, CA 95820. read more
