I took my Yorkshire Terrier for a hair cut at Pawlywood in Union Nj. 12/23/24. I gave the receptionist pictures of how I wanted my dog's hair cut. Picture are below. Photo number 1 will be how my dog looked before the hair cut, Photo number 2&3 will show the cut that I wanted, and finally photo number 4 will be the cut Pawlywood actually did. I told her to keep her facial and tail hair. It's not so much of the mistake, it's the bitch's unprofessionalism and lack of concern. It's like we got your money, sorry you don't like it. She told me, it will grow back, then she said the cut can't look the same bc it's not the same dog. I know that simple bitch, but it should look similar. It took me 4 years plus to grow my baby's hair, and this cunt acting like it's no big deal. If you couldn't do the job, just say that or at least be empathetic towardsmy feelings or accept responsibility for your fuck up. She swore she did a good job. Atmosphere: 4 Not a large check in area and there are cages behind the desk where doggies are waiting for pick up. It usually can be a bit noisy if the dogs are barking. There are a few items for sale including really cute dog clothes too. There's a window where you can see the dogs getting their haircut. Quality: 5 Overall I think the haircut is cute and the cut is generally pretty even. Sometimes there are some areas seem more choppy and I notice more of that if it seems like a particularly busy day. Aside from that, I'm consistently happy with her cuts. Service: 4 I'm happy they do everything for her including nails, teeth and clearing her anal sacs. Generally, they do a great job and I love that they give a little bandana around her neck and bows on her ears. I spend around $70 every visit for them to do everything. Once, she did come back with some anal bruising so I wasn't happy about that. Otherwise, they have been consistently great with their service. Booking with them is easy and they generally have slots open which is great because I wouldn't have to book so far in advanced! There's parking right out front too! read more

I am so disappointed that I had to file a BBB COMPLAINT. "I took my 11 year old Morkie Kai to be groomed on Friday, September 9, 2022, I have been taking him there for many years and have told them many times not to shave his private area. When I dropped Kai off at 8am that day the woman even read off the note to me and I confirmed I wanted the same puppy cut and to not shave his privates. I picked him up approximately 2 hours later to find her was shaved close but thought it was just his body. As soon as I got home I noticed him licking his private area which went on through the night. He was and still is so irritated neither of us can sleep. I called Pawllywood early Saturday morning and left a message about the issue no one returned my call. Around 2:45 pm I went there with a picture of the irritation to Kai's private area. The woman at the desk was apologetic when I showed her the picture, I also had my bank on the phone trying to get the payment of $74.64 reversed. The female groomer then came out of the back and started telling me that she is a professional dog groomer and something about not using scissors. She went on to tell me to put witch hazel on the area....I called the vet prior to going there and was told to use neosporin and what I knew that witch hazel will burn. The groomer was extremely condescending and then rudely walked away. I asked for my money back and was told that was impossible because the owner was away on vacation and I need to wait. When I mentioned contacting the BBB she told me to go ahead and do that, so I am. I want the $74.64 plus the $10 tip I gave the groomer. I have a Havanese dog (10 lbs) - I've taken my dog here for over 2 years. With Covid they changed staff and it hasn't been the same ever since. Last month (July) after I took him for a grooming session my dog came home that evening in pain and hurting every where. I think they were rough with him and he was mistreated. When I questioned them they were all excuses. A day later I noticed a cut in his anus area. I will not recommend this place to anyone. Especially their lack of taking responsibility. read more

I'm very disappointed with my last visit on 9/10/21. I had been calling for weeks to schedule my puppy, since my 1st visit with them had gone so amazingly and the cut was as I had requested... After numerous calls, I left voicemails as well as reached out online, but had no luck at all. I decided to call and to my surprise they answered and said they had an opening if I arrived within 20 mins, which I did. The receptionist asked if I wanted the same service I previously had and I confirmed. I also reiterated my specifics as to what I really wanted, she confirmed to having all my request, in online file, and on the sticky note she would give to the groomer. They called me that my pup would be ready in approx 40 mins if I could arrive before 3 because that was their closing time and I agreed and hung up. 2 seconds later I received another call informing that they would be done with my pup's sooner, like 10 mins, I told her I was literally 12 mins away. Upon arrival I asked where he was and the groomer brought him out and he was so happy to see me and wouldn't stay still, so I paid and gave my tip and left. When he calmed down I started to realize his cut was kind of different from what he had gotten the last time (what was on the sticky note). They cut his eyelashes, they ut the top of his head very short, they cut the leg and stomach side hairs, the ears were cut with no shape just a straight cut, the nails were so roughly cut that he scrached my legs and arms, so I had to buff them when I arrived home and the overall cut was choppy!! The groomer did a horrible job!! I'm so dispointed!! I called and to my surprise they did not answer. The groom was $69.53 (well $70.00 because they do not offer to give you change), that's not cheap at all, and onto of it, they do not go by what you request, thats insane!! If they did not have enough time for the correct and proper cut, they should have just scheduled me for another day, which I did ask, but they said to bring him within 20 mins. Never going there again, I regret giving a tip and they should consider firing the groomer, for lack of grooming skills and poor reliability (I do not believe it was the same from the 1st visit) !! read more

It's really hard to find a groomer that takes long hair cats and was glad to find them. Long story short, they charged me $213 the most I have ever ever paid for a grooming, and my cat's cut was so uneven. They claim that my cat "went feral" and would only allow him to return if the vet sedated him. This has never been the case but also- don't groomers know that cats are extra sensitive and handle them accordingly? I had a groomer for years that was outstanding but she went out of business. Anyway, I couldn't recommend sending cats to be groomed there for an exorbitant amount of money, an uneven job, and most importantly, at the risk of my pet. read more

I had to take my Pomeranian to the vet after having him groomed there. If I could give less than one star, I would. My vet said the groomer choked my dog during grooming and that explained why his eyes were bloodshot. My Pomeranian suffered and was unable to breathe. Irresponsible groomer!! My puppy is a cavapoo and has long fluffy hair. We work on grooming him often brushing him everyday and caring for his fur. He was brought in for a trim and fluff and was instead shaved completely bald! The groomer made a mistake and switched grooming instructions with another dogs. This was a major mistake my poor puppy is unrecognizable! Will not be returning. Do yourself a favor and find a location responsible enough to not make these kinds of mistakes. read more

My husband brought our cat Bella in today to get her nails trimmed and I just want to say how much I appreciate the care they gave my cat. Bonnie and Rosie were so gentle and showed patience. My Bella can be feisty and in past places they refused to cut them because they said she was "difficult" or they had to cover her face. Bonnie took her time to let Bella her comfortable and I really really appreciate that. We will be coming only here to get our Bella's nails trimmed. read more

I have a poodle who is very energetic, loving, and definitely a friendly dog. I took him for a grooming which is $65 and when I went to pick him up they said it was $75. I questioned which and they said because of his "knots". To begin with, I thoroughly brushed him beforehand and even if he did have knots if they are using clippers to cut him it would just come off when cut. Or if they were gonna charge extra they should have called and asked if it was okay to informed me. When I said this they danced around it and couldn't give further explanation. It is what it is but when I checked my card receipts they charged me for $80. So I called them and questioned it and they said its for the knots but 65+10 is 75 not 80. Beside the unprofessional mannerism with handling an issue, my puppy came back home out of the loop and traumatized. For the past three days he is skeptical of coming close to my family and I and he is completely drained of energy. He seems scared which makes me think that they used abuse and force to get him to remain still during the grooming. I also noticed that his pubic area is cut completely bare which I'm sure is uncomfortable for him. I have been a customer at Pawllywood Grooming for over 5 years and the customer service was excellent when Lynette was the Manager. After COVID-19, I found out Lynette left the business. I was reluctant to continue my business there but decided to given them a try. First off, the turnover in the place is horrendous! There's no way I was able to request a certain groomer because there is high turnover each month. On this month, my dog came home with a very bad cut under his front leg BUT it was not reported. When I picked him up last week, the groomer was there alone and could not provide any information. I waited to speak with the Owner on today. I called before I arrived to explain the issue and felt a sense that I was not being taken seriously as a customer. The owner told me she was busy and would call me at the end of the day. Since I was in the neighborhood, I told her I'd stop by. She was able to research the groomer who cut my dog right away. She assured me that this person will no longer be working there as of next week (new job). She assumed that would make me feel better as a customer. I explained that there should be more for her to offer me as a long-term customer. SHE DISAGREED and believed I WAS unrealistic to think their groomers "would not have accidents WHEN DEALING WITH SHARP OBJECTS". SHE asked me what I THOUGHT WAS FAIR and REFUSED TO OFFER A SOLUTION for this issue. THEN, SHE TRIED TO INTIMIDATE ME TO SAY, "If you are asking for a refund, YOU ARE NO LONGER WELCOME HERE!" I realized she had no IDEA how to offer proper customer service, I tried to meet in the middle and asked for a 1/3 of my payment to be refunded. As she gave me the compensation, she further said with a NASTY TONE, "YOU ARE NO LONGER WELCOME HERE!" If she is treating me in this manner, it's clear to me why there is HIGH TURNOVER and the customer service for business has terribly gone down. There's no reason to treat customers in this manner...clearly she doesn't have proper manager etiquette. It was a demeaning experience!!! I brought my Yorkie here, she is normally really energetic and happy and hates her cage, but when she came back from here she slowly walked to her cage and didn't leave all day. Then after once she started getting back to her old self and got out of her cage, we noticed that she began to limp, while this could be something else it's hard to believe that these things are just a coincidence. If you want to go here or you have heard good things from others then good for you, but I love my dog like my child and if I trust you with my dog you better take care of her like she's your child too! read more

I have been bringing my maltipoo here since he was 1 1/2 (he is now 3). He's not the easiest dog to handle, but whoever grooms him does the absolute best job despite how hyper he is. He always comes out with the exact cut I want and leaves happy. I have brought him to other groomers and I can tell what kind of experience he has based on his behavior afterwards at home. The groomers here are very kind and patient. They take their time to listen to you and understand exactly what you want. The only complaint I have is that when I started taking my pup here, the service was $55 for a full groom. Now it's $60+ tax. This was established maybe around a year ago. (Not a huge increase, but I would have rather still be paying $58 and not $64 lol) Other than that, no complaints. I have brought my 2 yr old maltipoo here a couple of times and it was usually a good job. But there has now been 2 times that my dog has been nipped by the razors the first time it ended up infected and I had to take him to the vet. The 2nd time which was very recent he was nipped by his private area that left him in some pain and uncomfortable he didn't really wanna walk or pee. He was left uneven and had bald spots in different areas. Then they call me and say he will be ready in 20 minutes and they closed in 20 minutes which is not a problem because I live down the street but when he got home you can totally tell he was a rushed job. I did call the next business day and that was a waste of time. I will definitely not be taking my dog there again. read more

wasn't going to write a review and just take this as a loss but, i have time today. since we have been home (less than 24hrs) our Goldendoodle has not stopped shaking his head, his privates are inflamed and bleeding, he has bald spots near his eyes (his eyes!) and his hair is completely uneven. they also cut his ears and tail which i was very adamant about them not doing and they said "okay, we wont!". they chopped the hair off anyway. and all of this somehow took almost 6 hours. when i arrived he was under the register in a dark kennel facing more kennels with barking yorkies, i cant imagine how he felt that whole time. they never called me to get him-- he was brought in at 11 and they said he would be done in about 4hrs. i had to call twice (once at 3pm to see when he needed to be picked up and it seemed as if he was not being handled yet and THEY DIDNT EVEN KNOW IF HE WAS MALE OF FEMALE. called again 45 mins after they said he would be ready because they never reached out. THEY LITERALLY NEVER CALLED ME TO GET HIM. when I showed up almost 5.5 hours later because i thought this was taking TOO long, he just wanted to RUN. i don't blame him. the groomer made me pay first before giving him to me which is a red flag, she knew the job wasn't done well. minimal matting or not, it was no need to kennel him that long and then give no notice on how he was doing. the groomer that shaved him never looked at me or said how he did, she just kept shaving off another dog who literally had NO hair already. to there long-time customers: good for you. but to the ones who are unsure, contemplating, already had bad experiences but were too tired to post a review (i see you) or those just simply researching new groomers: go elsewhere (or give them a try and get your own experience). either way, there are tons of amazing professionals who can calmly clean, shave, trim and shape beautifully. and i know where i could have done better to advocate for my pup and his needs; should have trusted my gut instinct of walking out after they gave me a hard time about the services i initially wanted (another red flag). they were simply too lazy to actually care; find someone who is not afraid to do the work and takes the time to get to know you and your pet. please. my family and i do not care for a response from the owner and obviously we have no intentions on returning. we just want other people to take this into consideration! read more

Literally just got home from picking up Gus from pawllywood and we will definitely be returning! The cut was EXACTLY what I told them and there timing was perfectly accurate. Usually there's a few hairs I need to snip or fix when I get home and not a single hair was out of place. Initially when I first arrived they had a good number of dogs there but the place wasn't screaming with barking. The atmosphere there was so friendly and relaxed. I have been taking my yorkies here for awhile and normally I never have an issue until now. When I walked in this time there wasn't a familiar face in the place which I thought was odd because I know pretty much all the regular employees. When I picked up my yorkie I noticed on the way home that she couldn't open her right eye and she kept pawing at it. I thought maybe there was hair in her eye so I tried cleaning it with a damp cloth but didn't change anything. I had to take her to emergency vet that evening and it turns out she had some trauma to her right eye. $300 dollars later I have to put antibiotic drops in her eyes for 10 days and give her pain meds. Before I brought her there her eye was normal and after it wasn't. If something accidental happened then I should have been informed immediately. Her eye could have gotten infected if not treated right away. I'm also very dissatisfied with the haircuts as well. All around terrible experience this last visit. I will not be returning. read more

Excellent job done on my 7month old cavapoo - Coco. Staff were very pleasant on the phone and in person. This is only my 2nd time taking my pup to a groomer. The first groomer I took her to said that my pup wasn't cooperative , so only the basic areas were groomed. Everyone at Pawllywood is helpful and gentle with pets. The groomers listen to how you want your pet groomed and they go all out to make it happen. They must be really good at keeping the dogs calm, because after four visits, I still have not heard a dog going berserk like I have at other grooming salons.
