Nicole's on Briarcliff charges upwards of $4 more for a lot of products that Young's also carries for a fraction of the price. Their selection is better, more in inventory, pristinely organized, clean, and probably too comfortable. Lol. You can drop a bomb here. They have endless accessories; both demure, and quite flamboyant. A perfect beauty supply store for any woman, man, and child. They have it all. Just give yourself some time to shop, because they have so many intricate, darling items, that you never knew you needed, that's it's gonna be awhile. This mornings haul cost me $45, and when I was done paying, and realized I'd forgotten an intended to purchase, and handed him cash for it, Mr. Young kindly gifted the item to me to save me time. Do not give your money to racist establishments. I was profiled twice . Once at the counter and once in line looking at braid jewelry. This man had the nerve to watch me the entire time while I was looking at the jewelry, a young man in front of me paid for his items and said that k you VERY politely and to have a good day. This man did not flinch or look on this young man's direction. A younger girl came up and asked for masks, as she was asking I took out my wallet and this man starred daggers at me like I just stuck something in my wallet while I'm grabbing my card. I only got to skim the surface of this place, as the spouse was waiting in the car. It's very impressive even if you only have a few minutes; I'm sure it's even more so when one has time to browse. This place is about two to three times the size of your average Sally's, and it's got a much wider range of items. I'm looking forward to going back and looking at their wig selection. In addition to wigs, they carry a wider supply of false eyelashes than I've seen anywhere, even in Chicago, including human hair varieties. If you're looking for flashy makeup bordering on the theatrical, you'll find it here: they carry cream glitter eyeshadows and a selection of large cosmetic eye crayons in a wide variety of colors - neither of these easy to find outside a specialty store. I always came to this store for quick needs if I needed anything before hair appointment. I bought a wig and called ahead of time to ask if they can cut off lace. They said yes even when I didn't get it from them and they said it was fine. I asked how much she was like nothing. Free free I'm okay. I get there and they wanted to charge me $6 to cut the lace!! And then when I told them I literally just called and I never had to pay the worker got an attitude with me and started going back and forth. Snatching from me and then following me around the store. Kidding you not. FOLLOWED around the store. The disrespect from this supply that I always go to has no problems and wanted to make a few extra bucks even though they said I wouldn't have to pay when I told them the situation. Never again! NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER Mr Young has a rough exterior but a huge heart. I started driving 30 mins past several stores to spend my money with him when I learned that he gave huge scholarships. I was witness to a girl who did not even apply but he presented her with a check after he asked her if she was going to college. She said no but he saw her clients in his store and believed in her skills- so he paid for her full tuition to beauty school- who does that?! Been coming here for 19 years. There are plenty of wig options, lots of weaving hair, beauty supply for relaxed and natural hair. The prices are low. Staff is friendly. Staff are all knowledgeable about the products. More importantly Mr. young has given many African Americans in the Bolingbrook communist college grants. When I moved from the city of Chicago to the west burbs, I knew I'd lose some things. A good local beauty supply store was one. I typically frequent beauty supply stores like Youngs for sheens for my hair, silk pillow cases when I can't find one, spray if I have braids out in my head or other things I cannot seem to think of at this exact moment. What a relief it was for me to find Youngs! It is expansive, from the selection of wigs and weaves to purses and pajamas to clothing, pajamas and pomades. They have lipsticks, glosses, oils, incenses, shampoos and conditioners all sorts. I would rate Youngs higher but their hours are a bit inconsistent. Young's never fail to impress with product I'm looking for. Decided to roller set my hair with cold wave rods. I stopped by Sally's, purchased 2 packages or rods at a cost of $1.99 ea about a week ago. This week decided I'd roller set my entire head. This meant I needed more rods. Stopped by Young's yesterday, found the smallest roller for the back of my hair (which Sally's didn't carry); cost was less than Sally's. smallest size .89; the sizes I purchased at Sally's was twice as much as I what I paid at Young's. Whatever you need...Young is the place to be! They cater to ALL ethnicities. I am proud to say that Young is the most accessibile and reliable beauty supply store in Bolingbrook. I've been buying products from them since 1999 and have never had to take anything back because of quality or price. You can find almost anything there and not put a hurtin on the pocket book as some other stores would. With the expansion of the store, there's even more to choose from with ease. I frequently shop at this store because they mostly have everything in stock that I'm looking for. For the last few years I have been looking over Mr. Young rude personality and lack of customer service. After going in there this morning to exchange children belts "he rudely asked if I had a receipt?" Which I didn't but I showed him the tag on the belts that the were purchased two days ago. Mind you he never even spoke back once I spoke to him even though I was the customer entering the store. Against my better judgment I picked up another item to purchase. I took it and placed it on the register and stood there for 10 secs and his man continued to read his mail as if I wasn't there. Even after I said I was ready to checkout. So I informed him that, "if a customer is in here spending their money you should have better customer service and respect for your customer, and that I will not be coming back." Which they do , however all displayed hair pieces and wigs are for African American only. When I tried to ask why, I was ignored. Mr. Young needs to realize this isn't the 50's or 60's anymore. Not only that, they are very customer service friendly and they have such a HUG selection on just about everything you've ever wanted.
