Great customer service, there are specials that they post on their facebook page. That's how I came across some good deals from them!! They're not like some of the other shops who charge you credit card fees without telling you. Thank you YG, and I will continue to purchase when you have ammo deals... There is a limited amount of parking stalls, but it's easy to find one eventually. It's down the road from my place, so I get all pumped up when I see a deal from these guys. I went to find an air rifle. Benjamin trail np2 synthetic .22 they had it at $279.95 plus 4.712% $13.19=$293. I found it on amazon $231.95 no tax w/free freight. I called the guy and asked he would be willing to price match or get close and I would still be paying tax. Plus id spend the money here in Hawaii. His answer was a flat NO $62. Diff sorry it's comeing to me 9/3 from amazon. I do not think they would loose money plus I would buy pellets, sling, case,& cleaner from them too (which is all comeing from amazon). I think local businesses will have a hard time matching prices but at least attempt some kind of compromise so customer can get product now and spend the money here as well. Just FYI read more

They're super nice, friendly & helpful the first few visits, but after that, it's not really consistent. However, I these guys know their guns & they don't give attitude. Been to other gun shops recently, where service was horrible. It made me appreciate these guys a little more. Also, I recommend taking the firearms training course from Race & his daughter Marie. They're excellent! I learned so much from their course. That and Race is a range officer. He's always willig tonhelp you out & give advice. If you haven't do e so already, sign up for their course! Five stars for the course offered by Race & Marie. Four stars for service. Three stars since they're out of stock on a lot of items all the time & if you put your name on a waiting list, they'll never call you back. Two stars because the prices are considerably higher here. Their guns are about $100 more than at other shops. Even other items are far more pricey. They sell 40 gram packets of Silica Gel for $15.99! I got the same exact packet for $6.99 at another gun shop in town. Advice: do your research and shop around. Know more or less what you want. It helps when you go in to ask questions. Now here's a place that I've been going to for a few years now and have purchased a few firearms and accessories from here. I must say, that overall, there is a great selection of firearms, weapons, targets and various accessories. The location is also centralized in the Mapunapuna area near to Salt Lake or to Tripler Hospital [If you're in the military] as to accommodate gun owners, enthusiasts, potential buyers or simply curious browsers who may reside on the leeward areas of Oahu and have the time to take a trip into town. The staff also is very knowledgeable about their inventory and patiently take the time to show and give a potential buyer any and all information needed in making an educated purchase. Purchased some accessory items and ammo recently from here and the transaction went smoothly as usual. PROS: 1. PROFESSIONALISM: As stated in one of my other reviews, one of the first things that I closely rate when visiting and/or being a potential buyer in any establishment is the service aspect and how patrons are treated by staff. Overall, I've NEVER had a problem with any of the staff at Young Guns nor have I witnessed any unprofessional or irate behavior toward myself or anyone. They have been always helpful and willing to assist with any concerns or questions that I had on a particular item. They also greet most everyone entering their store unless they are focused and occupied with potential buyers....and let me tell you, this place does get busy. 2. ITEMS: Young Guns has a vast inventory of firearms, ammunition, knives, OC sprays, cleaning equipment, optics and various accessories including targets and target frames already made to take and use at the Kokohead Range.....With the exception of a few name brands or manufacturers that they don't carry, you name it, for the most part, they got it or would be happy to special order the item for you. 3. PARKING: There is a decent sized open parking lot as well as street parking adjacent to Young Guns so there isn't any real problems finding parking when you visit the location. 4. LOCATION: As stated in the opening paragraph, this location is in a centralized location on the island so folks coming from the leeward side are spared with the hustle and bustle of going all the way into town and dealing with congestion and parking issues. CONS: 1. SOMEWHAT PRICEY: Although sometimes they do have discounts and good deals on some of the firearms and certain products such as ammo, I find that overall, compared to other locations, that the prices here are somewhat pricey especially for some of their firearms in stock. And for those on a tight budget especially with how the economy is going, you may want to shop around before making a purchase here. 2. FFL TRANSFERS: On a minor note, they don't do FFL transfers [The last time I checked] so if you're ordering firearms online, you need to find an FFL dealer or licensed person elsewhere to accept the firearm and hold it for you. 3. WAITING: Again, on a minor note, because of the store's popularity with many gun owners/enthusiasts, you may find yourself waiting for a while to be served by one of the staff as they may be tending to someone who's making comparisons and deciding on their purchase. So, be patient and allow some time for yourself if you're in the market for a firearm or accessory and happen to visit this location. Can I just echo everyone else here and say - AMAZING FRIENDLY customer service?! There's definitely a homey feeling about. The ambiance is not sterile or intimidating in the least. I've only stepped foot in one other gun store besides Young Guns and well, I'm a total newbie to shooting (haven't shot anything yet) but I felt very comfortable, even if I was a bit shy at first, here. There were 3 workers, who all seem to take the time to converse with each and every client, regardless of whether they were only there to research/ask questions or to actually buy. My boyfriend looked at the flashlights but didn't see the one he wanted. However, he was happy to see $9.99 combat rings (for flashlights) so he definitely picked up a pack of those. We were there for near 2 hours mostly just waiting around for someone to finish up with prior clients! One customer I was observing was animatedly asking questions and talking to two different workers (at separate times) and he was still there after we left! He was looking at rifles and talking about handguns, though. When it came to our turn, my boyfriend took a look at a few, mainly the .22s since that's what he wants. We had a great experience and the workers seem knowledgeable in their own right, which is pleasant! I like professional opinion. They were all patient with me as I tried holding a couple of them, trying out how they feel against my hand, even though I felt completely awkward as I've never held a real gun before. Horrible Customer service! Not helpful, unfriendly, and condensing. First time customer visited since i was in the area and looking for possibly getting some new gear. I want familiar with firearms and the staff made me feel like a kindergartener. Really?! I rather spend my money someplace else then. Oh well....their loss. Hawaii is a lot of "word of mouth " advertising and after my experience was voiced, my associates warned me Young Guns is horrible and recommended other places in town. FYI, a lot of their items appeared overpriced vs online vendors with Prime free shipping to the islands. Really it's double priced! Take my experience for what it's worth. I hate to be redundant but I must echo my gf's review. I came here right after visiting OGC Tactical and the experience was like night and day. The staff was so helpful and knowledgeable and friendly that we stayed there for over half an hour just browsing, talking and being educated about all kinds of firearms. When the time comes and I decide to finally buy a firearm, I'll probably get it from this place, even though they're considerably pricier than the other guys. Almost all of the gun stores in town are rationing ammo (march 2013) and Young Guns is in short supply as well. I was only able to buy 2 boxes of .223, today. Nice thing is that they haven't jacked up their prices. Dale (the owner) explained to me that he would rather run out of stock, than gouge his customers. Because of this, the shelves are pretty much empty. Awesome ethics, though. They have me as a customer for life. I read a few of the other reviews that said their prices are too high. Sure they are if you're comparing them to mainland stores. If you compare the prices to the 1/2 dozen or so local gun shops on Oahu, it's pretty much in line with everyone else. read more

1/20/18 approx 1250hrs. Finished work a little early so I stopped by to purchase some Dirty Bird targets for tomorrow. Upon arrival two employees behind the counter were helping one customer each, both browsing firearms. I headed straight to pick up some reactive targets and proceeded to the register where I turned to make eye contact with the employees. They clearly saw me waiting at the cashier, but not once acknowledged me. After approximately five minutes of waiting the Japanese employee was finished with his customer. But rather than tending to me he proceeded to help another person who walked in much after I did, leaving me waiting . The other Filipino employee was still tending to his customer who was obviously a newcomer to hand guns and would probably be a while.Not once did either employee acknowledge me or say that they would be with me shortly. It was as if I was a fly on the wall. after about 10 minutes total wait time I had had enough and walked out. Bought my targets at a nearby GUN SHOP instead. read more

It was my first time buying a pistol and after alot of reading online/looking for pictures about what to buy, I decided to go to Young Guns (suggested by a friend) to purchase a Glock 23. The guy who helped me (forgot his name - almost 2 years now) was very nice and helpful. He showed me several guns similar to the G23 (Sig/Springfield etc), but after minutes of handling the guns, I ended up purchasing a Springfield XD-40. I am very thankful I got that gun coz I am now a springfield lover. I have been to Young Guns a few times. I must say that every time I have walked in, I typically miss the masses -- which is great, I hate the crowds. So, that being said, I can see how some people get frustrated with the customer service at times. In most cases for these stores, there are not enough representatives to handle the large influx of customers. Fortunately, this staff always seems to epitomize a high degree of professionalism towards their customers. The place may turn into a mad house, but they maintain a calm sense and are eager to help you in addressing your needs asap. Most products appear to be well stocked. That being said, each individual should take my observations with a grain of salt. Your needs may not always fit for a fix or the desire to have a certain product. At times too, products can be on back order (happened to me with some of their flashlights). For overall store experience, you can't go wrong with Young Guns. Visiting Young Guns is the one place where I end up being like a kid in a candy shop. They have a wide variety of guns, rifles, shotguns, knives, tactical flashlights and accessories on display at reasonable prices. I enjoy browsing through the store and have yet to walk out without buying a single thing. Their sales personnel are very knowledgeable on any of their products and I've always found them to be helpful. My wife shudders every time I go into the store and I think before long, she won't let me go in by myself. In the meantime, I'll stop by whenever I get a chance. I've been to all but one or two stores on the island in the firearms business. Their selection is nice, about average when compared to other stores. Their prices are great as well, especially their .22LR ammo. Rifles, pistols, knives, lights, targets, cleaning tools - they have a very wide variety of equipment and reasonable prices. The staff is also more than willing to help out beginners to the sport, such as me. What can I say? It's a gun shop in Hawaii. These guys have their hands tied down by a LOT of Honolulu regulations. That being said, they still managed to make the hand gun buying experience educational and fun. One of the fellows there helped me along with the purchase of a Glock 26 4th Gen. They were perfectly comfortable with letting me handle every handgun I felt like browsing but in the end I decided to save a few bucks and forego the Walther PPS (Which I will be going back for) and get the Glock. Buying a gun in Hawaii is a pain. These guys were very knowledgeable on the topic and very helpful over the phone with making sure I knew what to bring to have my gun purchased that day. Now it's just the matter of a 14 day wait with the State Police to get through my background checks then I'll finally be able to take the new baby home and put her somewhere safe. read more

Prices there are pretty reasonable. The accessories and most of the guns are priced okay, but if its in stock at security equipment or ogc, It'll probably cheaper. I had usually bought my ammo and cleaning accessories/targets from here with no problems. But when I went in to purchase a lower for an ar-15 because they had a sale(free ammo) it was the worst experience ever. First I purchase the lower, they run my card and start doing the paperwork with my permit. That's where the problems start, they say my permit is not filled out correctly, apparently HPD doesn't fill out forms to their specs. I can't remember exactly but it was some bullshit reason like the guy initialed it in a strange orientation. So I ask for a refund, sorry they won't do refunds even though I never got the gun. Fuck. So they tell me to get it corrected at the main police station. Keep in mind, I don't work at a gun store, I have a real job with work to do. So I make the trek and stand in line to get the permit fixed to Young Guns specs. Even the sergeant at the permit office thought it was really petty and unnecessary. After I get back to Young Guns, they still won't accept it. At this point, I'm super pissed and demand a refund. After about 30 mins, they decide to go against policy and issue me a refund. I can't believe I wasted about 4 hours total trying to give these jerks business. In the end, I went to security equipment, got the same gun complete with upper for only about 500 more. My permit was good there. I understand that they need to have standards, especially when dealing with sales of firearms in this day and age but to deny me multiple times when I clearly had the legitimate paperwork is horrible service. This rating based upon only one interaction and only for mace/pepper spray, and inquiring about possible handguns in Hawaii, but the interaction was really great. First thing, with gun stores, the "unwelcome weirdo factor": Young Guns have none of that, very inclusive. Too often a gun store can feel like a biker bar - unless you know someone inside, you get a whole lotta 'what do YOU want in here?' vibe. Not so Young Guns; they were respectfully helpful and nice enough. I thought maybe my guy was a little too too 'let-me-walk-this-noob-through-the-required-by-law-training-briefing-before-I-let-him-buy-some-pepper spray', but he didn't know me from Adam nor my background and they have to cover their butts legally so maybe it wasn't as over the top as I started to think it was becoming. But even then he/they did it nicely and wasn't all condescending like most gun shops can be. Very informative with handgun procedures, informed me of his training/certification class held at Koko crater without being pushy hard sell about that. I appreciate that very much, looking for info only at this point and not needed to be pushed into anything. Nice. Overall great store, purchase experience. Not a gun nut so I'm not up to speed with the latest happenings so I cannot comment on the prices. My guess is everything 'gun-ish' in a leftist Democrat whiney state like Hawaii is going to be expensive just 'cause, so idk if Young Guns is cheap expensive or what. The perusing environment was nice for a gun shop. Recently disappointed by the self-indulgent staff at a rival gun shop, we decided to drive down to Young Guns. That other place could learn a thing or two about customer service from YG's knowledgeable and friendly staff. We were simply browsing that day and asked for general information relating to gun safety classes. Not only did the guys at YG know their stuff, but they made us feel comfortable and told us to hang out for as long as we wanted, even with only 30 mins left until closing. The prices are considerably higher (10-20% more) than the "other" guys, but my bf and I agree that if paying more means superior service with a reputable company then it is definitely worth the $. read more

I've been to Young Guns 4-5 times now, every time I have been impressed with the friendly and knowledgeable staff. I go there mostly for the knives. True, some of their prices are high, you can't deny that. They seem to always have a good selection of Spyderco, and Kershaw. Sometimes Cold Steel and Benchmade as well, but not recently. They've got some Ka-Bars, SOG, and a few other brands. They just started carrying Zero Tolerance knives at great prices, only a few bucks higher than what you can find on the web. They were also very helpful in choosing ammo for my needs. I will be going back! read more
