The manicurist did not speak English, which made it very difficult to communicate what I wanted. I had to wait for someone in the shop that could interpret for me. He was also very rough with my manicure, pushing my hands away from him to tell me to put it in the drying apparatus. While I applaud diversity, I do feel that if you're going to serve clients and speak English that you should have minimum know to speak enough English, to communicate for the service that you provide. such as put your hands into the dryer unit. I also felt that he went too fast he was not careful each layer to go all the way to the edge of my nail and didn't allow the individual layers of gel to dry before he applied the next layer. Just went and got a dip manicure on a Wednesday by Saturday one of them came off. Went and got it replaced and then the next day another one came off and then the next day another one came off. When I went in for the fix the person who did the nails came over and she and the guy fixing it were talking and looking at my nails and didn't say anything to me but made it seem like they knew this was going to happen or wrong with them. Not only did the do the callus remover, and leg massage but then they moved us over to another chair and gave us a neck and scalp massage. I went to the Penfield location for a gel manicure. when I was done, they charged me $35 AND an EXTRA $15 charge. They said it was for removing my UV gel. They did not do one thing different than I've ever had done for removal. Worst of all, they never told me they were going to charge the extra $15. I have been going here for many years. The quality of the work is pretty steady. I have been impressed with the changes made since it is under new ownership. It would be nice if it was easier to engage the service providers in conversation. There seems to be a language barrier. Over all it's clean, and efficient. If I could give 0 stars I would! When we first walked in and asked if they were accepting walk-ins for a nail fill, they had us sit in the waiting area for 20 minutes. A massage person came out to take us in the massage room, and we said that we were there for nail fills not massage. After multiple conversations in Chinese, a younger gentleman took us over to one of the nail tables. this was the same gentleman who told us to go sit and wait to have our nails done. My daughter has three nails missing and needed. An acrylic fill. He stated acrylic, and when we both said yes, he proceeded to pull the rest of her nails off, except for two, and added tips to her nails. After what seem to be quite a long time, I looked to see what product he was using, to find out that he was using gel, not acrylic. When I asked, he told me that it was just as good as acrylic. I've been a nail tech for 25 years, out of practice for the last 10 but I know the difference between gel and acrylic nails and gel is not as good or better than acrylic. My daughter's fingers were burning to the point where she was near tears, the whole time, he told her it would go away and it didn't. The whole time, the other three employees, assuming one was the owner, and this younger man spoke Chinese, 90% of the time we were there. To me, that is very inconsiderate and rude, especially in a professional setting. That only fueled my fire. When we were getting ready to go and I asked how much I was told $60. I looked at the sign, and that was for a full gel set, which, if I knew they were going to use gel, I should have stopped him and left at that point. But figured I would give him the benefit of the doubt ... That will never happen again! My daughters nails are thicker than any acrylic I have ever seen on any nails, even when I was in beauty school! This is beyond Chiclets! They are wavy, uneven, and even with the lighter polish, she chose can see imperfections in every single nail. She even has fingerprints in three of the nails from him! I now get to break out my nail bag with all of my product (luckily hasn't been that long since I've purchased new product) only to file most of it off, and re-polish for her. If I ever needed a reason to get back into doing nails in building a business, it would be due to all of the Asian salons that are still around and damaging peoples nails. The original salon we had gone to was also Asian, but both she and I had many air bubbles Under the acrylic, so refused to go back. I don't usually write reviews but I was extremely disappointed and upset with my experience. I called ahead of time and requested Ellie for a wax because I liked how she did my eye brows. When I walked in, Ellie was doing something on her phone with another worker. The woman who greeted me at the door took me to the waxing room and I said "Ellie can take her time I'm not in a rush". She then had me lay down on the table and started brushing my eye brows and I said "Ellie is going to do the wax right?" And after she said yes, she proceeded to put the wax on (which was also very hot and burned me). I have a wedding this weekend and now have to show up with completely botched eye brows. I also want to add that I had very full, well shaped and long eye brows before this wax. She also got wax in my hair and left wax on my face. I have been coming to this salon for over a year. I stopped getting my nails done here because they never did my cuticles and always rushed through and did a pretty sloppy job. So, I continued getting waxes with Ellie because she did a good job with that. I'm very disappointed with how unprofessional the experience was and will not be coming back here ever again. read more

I usually love this place. Been going for 4 years. Very inconsistent though. I walked in and was rushed to a chair before I picked my color. Then I told the man I usually get extensions with almond shaped nails. He told me no. Then I walked out with short round thick wide nails. My aunts nails came out beautiful though. I've been there three times. First time was GREAT. Second time I went, I requested the lady who did my nails the first time - she did not have a client when I went in. The told me no then ushered me to somone else...."sit, sit, he take care of you...." I didn't want to make a scene so I obliged. This guy did an okay job. The best nail Salon! They do the best job, provide the best service, have enough staff to handle the traffic so you don't have to wait 39 minutes before getting into the chair. They have a large selection of polishes, many different packages with great rates, and the staff is very friendly. They keep the place very clean And they are open on sundays! I have brought multiple friends here with me and everyone agrees this is the best salon in rochester. You get more than expected. The facility is clean and well staffed. However as a walk in I was rushed through a quick manicure. I am a bridesmaid in a wedding tomorrow. The woman (of course no name badge) barely said a word to me, just pointed with one word directions. In the end my nails look like I did them myself, except for I paid $15 to have them done professionally. After completing my nails, she placed me under a fan and then never came back to check on me or my nails. Just walked away. It's a shame too because it is right across the street from my apartment. And they have the lovely parafin wax hand treatment included in the basic manicure. I like to give the benefit of the doubt and will say maybe it's just the technician I got or a bad day for her. But I have seriously never regretted a manicure before and today I do. Service was quick and a bit rushed. The hot stone massage and massage chairs (newer than other places) were great. They offered a shoulder massage while sitting at the dryer. The prices are high and they did keep trying to upsell to a gel which is not something I was interested in. Pedi has held up well. I had called previously to see if they offered the powder dip manicure since I needed a refill and I wasn't home in Texas and visiting friends for the holiday. Apparently it isn't a widely offered service here yet but the manager stated on the phone and in person that they had it. I had to ask to see the powder to make sure. These powders come in various colors and don't require a lot of sanding of your nails and are actually healthier than gel manicures. He only had one light pink color. The staff looked very nervous and 2 men that were working on clients walked out. My worker didn't remove the previous application and put nail glue on the section of my nail that had grow out and sprinkled the powder on it. He then did a bad job of smoothing it out, it looks quite terrible. I had stated that you're not to put the powder under a UV lamp like gel, there's simply no need however he stated that at their establishment, they do the powder and then put the gel on top. As the inspector was there and he had already ruined my nails with the glue and filed my cuticles and skin on my fingers to the point of tenderness (3 days later, it is still tender), I wasn't going to raise a fuss. I had my friend and 3 kids waiting for him to finish. The gel polish hid imperfections enough for me to just get out of there. He also stated that he wasn't going to do the massage they are known for at the manicure chair because they're not licensed to do them. I'm dreading to hear what my hometown salon will say when I go back to remove this stuff. Got my nails done a few weeks ago for the first time at this place. I got a full set and the nail tech was very rude. Did not speak to me once. He used poly gel which is terrible for your nails and is impossible to get off. He didn't even ask me the length or shape I wanted just cut them as short as he could and shaped them round. The poly gel burned under the lamp and the nails were very chunky. He was grabbing my hands extremely aggressive because instead of telling me to remove my hand from the light he was just making hand gestures at me. I went to a different salon today not even 2 weeks since I came here and it took the nail tech an hour and a half to remove the poly gel nails. They killed my nails and he said that poly gel nails are terrible and are for techs that don't know how to use proper acrylic. My friend came with me and got a pedicure and upgraded to a spa pedicure that came with a 10 minute massage and the massage lasted 2 minutes and when we left her nails still had dirt underneath them. Worst experience ever. Charged me $115 8 times on accident because even though the machine said approved every time, they just kept doing it until the paper came out so I could write them a tip. I got up and saw that the paper was jammed after being charged multiple times and figured out the situation within three seconds. I have to respond to Ashleigh and Kristine's comments above. My daughter and I were in the salon at 7:07pm finishing up when three women came in, an older women and 2 teenage girls. The girls stated they needed a full set of acrylics and a full set of gels. The employees were very nice and explained that they close at 730pm and did not have time for full sets. The older woman started yelling at everyone in the shop and threatened to put a bad review on yelp repeatedly. The employees were professional and respectful. This woman was rude in front numerous people and provided an excellent teachable moment for my 15 year old who witnessed this horrific behavior. What an example she is setting for her own daughters.
