Sushi: I've tried Young's sushi a few times to give them an opportunity to enlighten my experiences as a connoisseur of sushi. I ordered the infamous boat with my friends awhile back, I was disappointed in the quality of sashimi they served us and portion wise. Presentation wasn't so bad but the freshness was what I consider the most important. The choice of fish they use were not over the top exuberant as they could have done. Mostly, it was salmon and tuna. i was hoping for more variety. But that just my review on the boat. Escobar(aka super white tuna) you pay $$ for something you expect to eat $$ premium sushi. Service: one particular gentlemen in mind....Has probably worked at youngs sushi for awhile now. His customer service skills can definitely use some more refining if he expects better tips. The other server are nice. I don't really have much concern over that point of it. However the thing with not receiving a ticket is kind of annoying. A simple review of the ticket is nice before paying. This establishments doesn't really express that kind of dining experience. Flavors: oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, & fish sauce are the main ingredients to their Chinese dishes on their lunch menus. with something labeled as ginger chicken, it should have more of a ginger aroma and taste. I didn't taste it so it taste like a regular stir fry dish to me. Their curry is decent, ill give them that. They seem to express fast food type services. If so they we could order and pay ahead of time at the register and then take a seat. Maybe I am ranting, My friends always like young's sushi, but to each their own. The sushi was good and the service was fair. Young's has sodas, but they are in a bottle. Not having fountain drinks is a big drawback for someone like me. Although I probably needs to cut back on my Diet Coke consumption anyway. I will return to Young's, but it will probably be a while. Good quality sushi. Great service. Had the monkey balls, the New Orleans and the 911 rolls. All were very good. They serve cold saki (yay!) and the menu is vast. Spacious seating area. I love Young Sushi! The owner is very friendly and so is the owner! The curry is my favorite! As far as the two other reviews go saying go to Bangkok Tokyo..Im pretty positive they are owned by the same person...soo....Yeah...and My Thai...Its not for me, i think that place has a large buffet in the back and they just load up your plate when you order.. I highly recommend Young Sushi. Their lunch specials are awesome, with your order you also get a cup of soup and an egg roll just part of the meal! This place is super good! read more

We tried Young Sushi on our overnight en route back to Austin from a Thanksgiving ski trip.. Portions were huge (esp the sashimi), sushi was fresh and very reasonably priced! Loved the super white tuna and salmon sashimi! They even have an unfiltered cold saki! We, along with our family who were headed back to Dallas were very pleasantly surprised. I've lived in DC, Dallas and Austin and eaten sushi all over! I was surprised Amarillo had such a gem--we will be back and will tell our friends who make the Austin--Colorado trek frequently! read more

I should learn to read my own reviews. Apparently I went to this restaurant 4 years ago, but I forgot. It's still just as terrible as it was when I reviewed it back then. The fish is extremely poor quality (my stomach is already regretting that I ate here), and the portion sizes are ridiculously small. I've never spent so much and gotten so little in any sushi place. Also, I've never been in any restaurant in the entire country (I travel a lot) that doesn't require masks. Although I saw a few customers come in wearing them, not one staff person had a mask on. This was especially scary as I watched the sushi chefs loudly talking to each other as they were making everyone's food (stupidly spreading their respiratory droplets all over whatever sushi was on the counter right below their faces). I will make sure to NEVER come back here again. Don't believe any of the bogus reviews claiming this is the best sushi in Amarillo (or that it's even good sushi). read more

My mom and I decided to have dinner here after a long drive from Flagstaff. The staff are very friendly. We order two glasses of Chardonnay (wine was okay), summer rolls and the 911 roll. I lived and worked in Las Vegas (culinary) 17 years. I am spoiled on food unavailable in our area. Fresh sushi is very difficult to come by in remote areas including Vegas and is more and more pricey. I don't want previously frozen sushi!!! This is a crazy large menu, and outstanding food mainly. My experiences with staff and Mr. Young are fun and informative. If you can go in the slower hours, there really is no wait. Every time that I enter, it smells ocean fresh, never fishy. The staff tries very hard (try to get that at any I-40 place). EVERY restaurant will have problems at one point or another, but the food shouldn't be the issue. Perfect? no. Worth it? Absolutely! I have no bias other than my experience. I am not 4th cousin or anything, just a fan. Favorite--sushi and sushima. 5/5***** Dislikes--the price, but you get what you pay for. Food here is excellent. I come very often and have tried many different dishes and sushi rolls and they've all been excellent. They only have a couple of servers so during peak times (Friday and Saturday night) you can probably expect a bit of a wait, but honestly it's totally worth it. I absolutely loved the cream cheese wontons. I ate all 10 all by myself. Great value because I got chicken pad thai and the wontons all for about $12. I usually don't leave reviews but this place was such a bad experience that I'm writing this review. We just got done driving two hours and were starving for some decent sushi and Pad Thai so we stopped here. We ordered some fresh summer spring rolls, two pad thais that we asked for mild, and three sushi rolls. The spring rolls came out and instead of the traditional peanut sauce they came with a sweat and sour sauce mixed with fish oil and garlic and was very strong tasting. The shrimps were also very chewy and smelled off so we had that taken off our bill, no problem though we still had pad thai and sushi rolls to look forward too, except when we got our pad thais that were supposed to be mild they were so hot we could not even eat two bites and had to drink all our water. Not wanting to be rude we asked for a box to take them home to try and add more noodles to make it less spicy (we ended up throwing both out because even after cooking more noodles with it they were still too spicy and we've had many many types of different pad Thai dishes) we were still looking forward to the sushi rolls but what we got were giant rolls of rice and a tiny tiny bit of filling. The dragon roll for example, $13.99 and barely had any filling and very small pieces of eel on top that tasted chewy. The other two rolls were equally disappointing. We don't like to cause a bother and we're hungry as f**k so we ate them even though it was worse than some buffet sushi we've had. Service was good, food was god awful and was not cheap. For the price you can go to a much nicer sushi restaurant and get real food read more

Completely hit or miss, and the last three times we have been have been HUGE misses. Tonight, we had to remind the waiter about our sushi order.... AFTER he brought our main dishes. His response? "Oh, Jesus! Man, I've been saying that alot today!" Our main dishes were room temperature, except for my rice, it was hot. After we were done eating, I asked the waiter if they don't serve the soup and salad with our meals anymore? His response "oh, uhhhh, yes, we do.. I just forgot to turn it in". ...blank stare...
