My appointment was for 11am, I arrived a few minutes early to get through the paperwork. Moments after completing it, I was called to the back where they took x-rays and then got me settled in a room. Dr. Martin is the primary dentist and he's got decades of experience - practiced in D.C. for about 15 years before he opened his current practice and location 8 years ago. I found him to be professional but also friendly and personable. The office staff are polite and efficient as they explained to me how the appointments are held and what I owed after insurance coverage. All in all, it was a pleasant experience; I was out of there 1 hour and 15 minutes after I walked in, got x-rays and a cleaning - now that's what I'm looking for, fast and professional. One of my pet peeves is having an appointment somewhere, showing up and having to wait extra time before I get in the back, then waiting more time to be seen. I'll be back.

As with many changes, this one brought both anxiety and apprehension. I was uncertain if I would like the new dentists or how they approached dentistry. I was further stressed by what I would be forced to do if it turned out this change was not one that I could withstand. My stress levels were soon found to be unjustified. While I have had several visits with Dr. Chen, most of my time the past five years has been spent under the care of Dr. Miller. Therefore, this review will focus primarily on him. However, it should be noted that my comments pertain equally to everyone in this practice. After several routine visits for cleanings, it became necessary for me to have a crown which involves needles to numb the area. I have had a lifelong dislike of needles of any kind and for any reason. When I arrived for my procedure a bit early, I crossed paths with Dr. Miller and when he asked how I was, I told him I was stressed about the need for him to numb my mouth using needles. When he heard that, he stopped mid stride and told me that he did not want me to stress while waiting. He led me to the chair and told me he was exceptional with needles and had even numbed himself. I was skeptical. He gave me the first needle as quickly as possible and I very quickly learned that he was not exaggerating. I have never had an experience that was so pain free. This experience, as well as those that have followed have eliminated my fear of needles and injections. Over the years, I have come to trust, respect and admire Dr. Miller's dedication to his craft, as well as his compassion towards his patients. He takes the time to explain what he is doing and why. He listens to my concerns and he answers my questions. He speaks to me versus at me. During a procedure, he will not only tell me where he is in the process but will stop and ask me if I am okay or if I need a break. Dr. Miller is young. Very young! He is younger than my children. He is also up to date on the latest techniques and technology. The practice puts patient care ahead of profit. The office is state of the art. The visits are never rushed. The entire staff is professional, respectful and courteous. Whenever I have had any procedure performed, other than routine cleanings, Dr. Miller or a member of his team has called me to check on my recovery and ask if I need anything. When my wife had some extensive work done recently and had a problem, I called the office after hours and left a message detailing the issue. Within minutes, Dr. Miller called to obtain more details and ask if she needed to be seen immediately or could she wait until the next morning. Dr. Miller is incredibly passionate about his work and compassionate about his patients. He has taken dentistry and raised it to an art form. This change has had a very happy outcome. Thank you!!

It was super easy to make my initial first appointment, and the consultation was great! Fast forward to today .... I had my first fillings done by Dr. Jun and enough words cannot be said. Dr. Jun was very gentle, but what I noticed immediately is that he was VERY THOROUGH. You can tell that he's is really passionate about his work, and that he truly treats patients teeth like they are gems..... at least that's how I felt . Finished my first time patient paperwork and was in the back by 11:30. X-Rays were done and the Dr went over what he saw and answering my dumb questions. She did a great job cleaning and inspecting my teeth. She also gave me feedback on my dental health without a lecture or making me feel like a scum bag. Dr Chan examined my xrays and my teeth. The receptionist (Anna) behavior was inappropriate, unprofessional, rude undesirable and unwanted. When I asked for the documentation for the office visit, she simply shook her head back and forth (NO) and then stated (NO) it will take 60 days for an approval from the insurance company. Obviously, this seemed odd with myself and my husband as we witness this tactful behavior because dentist offices always provide an estimated fees and verbiage of the initial consultation for planning purposes. If this was an emergency, am assuming 60 days for the procedure? After speaking with Aetna for clarification, the dental office should provide patients copies of their documentation, consultation/x-rays, etc. Therefore, a call was placed to the dentist office requesting the documentations, etc., instead, I received a disturbing email from Dr. Maurice Haynes wife stating: "I was not a fit for their office" and attached the x-rays and not the consultation verbiage. Her being in a leadership position and professional setting, shows this was an undeserving approach that should have been investigated and utilized the customer services tactics to provide a resolution to the situation, not discard a patient for simply requesting a copy of the office visit because this is very alarming. The owners (dentist) response to the patients is that, she can't let her patients treat her employees any kind of way because they can report her and she can loose her practice, which is totally understandable but it does not excuse your employees to treat patients any kind of way and provide mediocre services. What's funny is they knew who they would try when it came to this cancellation fee, I had the biggest red flag on my first visit. Two patients had walked in a bit late and them being able to fit them in said "nope we can't see you" when they left, I heard the staff saying that "they are always late and that's why they didn't want to see them so they had to pay the fee and have to R/S" as I can understand both sides it also seems like the office staff has an agenda because if you can see them why not see them THINGS HAPPEN. Now my husband was also a patient with them and the day of one of his appointments he ended up having to spend the day in the Urgent care where they determined he had pneumonia, his phone had Broke like a day before so we were waiting for a replacement, he was unable to call to R/S or cancel his appointment 48 hours before because he didn't plan not to go to his appointment and i literally had to go back and forth with them to remove the $50 fee (the average person does not make $50 an hour). Long story short, when I spoke with them I had asked them to cancel any upcoming appointment and they said okay, later on they said I never cancel his appointment a week after he was diagnosed with pneumonia (doesn't make sense to me that I would've left the appt there but okay) I don't remember whether I did or not so we ended up paying that fee (had a lot going on that week), the beginning of November I myself had an appointment but my ins is not currently active so I CALLED THEM to move some appointments around with the requested amount of time to be able to cancel if needed and not have to pay a cancellation fee, I moved some of my husband appointments to the time I had and another cancellation they had available, why was his copay not informed of at that moment I'm not sure but we received a text message from the office at 2:21 pm on November 6th when his appointment was at 3 pm November 7th, tell how would I be able to provide them with a 48 hour cancellation notice when you barely gave me 24 hour noticed of a $242 copay when my copay is usually no more than $30. When I called them and made the person that answered the phone logically think for once in her life, she felt offended and called back to say me and my husband were dismissed from their office, when I asked why, she proceeded to tell me I was disrespectful, when I asked her how was I disrespectful she couldn't come up with an excuse so she told me that everyone has their own definition of disrespect. So I went as far as emailing the office because you can go play with someone else (still waiting for a response so they can take accountability), if they were not "WRONG" after dismissing me and my husband why would they send HIM a message asking him to call back so they can discuss his appointments with him and not me. GPS directions lead you to the Staff Only entry points with no signage to redirect you to the proper place. Bringing it to the attention of the staff with the bright colorful acrylic nails will only produce you being the recipient of passive aggressive/nasty responses then an immediate ignoring of your requests for other new patients to be warned about the possible mixup during scheduling. Scheduling was also a disappointment but not as bad as coming in person. TLDR: Do NOT come here. Rude office staff. Go elsewhere even if it's a referral.
