I had a really bad experience with this business in the last month or two. Firstly, I came in with my computer to fix a problem that was happening after booting. It was fixed in a reasonable time and the pricing was not bad. However, the problem happened again about 3 days later and we were back to square one. The first time Gaddy told me he stress tested it and it seemed fine, the second time he told me that my CPU fan was blowing hot air onto my GPU and that was why it would freeze up and be unable to boot after restarting. How did he not this see this the first time he ran a stress test?? I am not an expert so I trusted him and lo and behold about a month later the problem happens again. He wasted my time and money. He claims he flashed my BIOS which also turned out to be not true after I went to a different store. Apparently this has happened to others where he lied about doing certain things. Definitely do not recommend this place at all! read more

My boyfriend recommended me this place, as he has had nothing but good reviews when he brought in his PC years ago to get fixed. My PC kept crashing and at one point, just would not turn on. I was afraid I would lose all my files (lesson learned by backing up your files fyi!). I was hoping this could be fixed so I wouldn't have to buy a new computer. There was no need for one--I just needed mine to work. Gaddy put a lot of effort into testing it out and after a few check ins, my pc came back working better than before (he pinpointed that it was a motherboard issue) and my files were also still there. Pricing is fair! Gaddy is very honest with his work and you can tell it's what he loves to do. I had a weird problem with a password change, and the Authenticator on my phone locked up. I could not complete the password change, and I was locked out of my Microsoft Office 365 that has all my data. I struggled for a week trying to navigate the Microsoft Ai, since MS does not have a live phone contact. Gaddy hopped right on and attempted to help via remote connection. He gave up and ghosted me for 2 days. When I called to see if he had any solutions, he said no, he couldn't be of any help. I agree with the other review that he doesn't like women. I think he didn't like my ideas of the troubleshooting I found on MS support. I took it to Tech Expert Guys in Irvine, and it was fixed in less than an hour, with professionalism and respect. read more

Eeek! Getting a new computer when you work on yours 10 hours a day is, well, daunting. I put it off. Gaddy is a total pro, knows everything there is to know about the technology, and I didn't have to "part" with my computer for one second. Based on a recommendation from Your Computer Store I just had a solid state hard drive installed in an aging desktop to replace the original unit. The service was exceptional and the performance of the computer is now amazingly fast compared to the very slow prior drive. The change was completed in one day which was truly appreciated and the original hard drive was cloned and installed in the solid state drive which meant no adjustments to using the computer. So my laptop was functioning fine, then when I went to turn it on it was dead. As though it was not getting any power and the battery was dead. It would not power up or boot. Except it was plugged in and fully charged. I exhausted all of my YouTube and Google suggestions which did diddly and ended up on Yelp where I found Your Computer Store which was nearby in Lake Forest. They were a little difficult to find in the strip mall (They are behind the Snooty Fox Restaurant) but I'm so glad I did. I had my fully functional laptop back the next day. Friendly, helpful, fast turnaround, reasonably priced. What more could you ask for? While I hope to never have to go again, I would go there again in a heartbeat if necessary - highly recommended. read more

Took my PC here because it randomly freezes when playing games and I had done everything in my power to try and fix it. I walk through the door and begin explaining everything I've done to this PC, and was about to get to the problem when Gaddy cuts me off and says "First of all, let's get to the problem first." I tell him it randomly freezes and he says it may be done that day, but probably the next day. Fast forward to the next day, it's an hour before close so I decide to call, no answer. Gaddy leaves a voicemail saying they haven't gotten it to freeze, so I suggested opening one of the games it frequently freezes on. He ignores my suggestion and says "The stress tests should do as much as a game would, if not more." They let it run overnight, still no freeze. I pick it up next morning and update windows as he recommended, and guess what.... It froze within 10 minutes. Long story short, if Gaddy has listened to me and opened up the game, and not disregarded everything I said it would have froze and I wouldn't have had to pay $30 for a 'stress test.' Definitely don't recommend if you're a woman and want to feel belittled. read more

The best, and most hard-working, computer guy I know is Paul Gadebusch, who owns and operates Your Computer Store. He is patient and excellent and kind and crazy- good at what he does. He usually has multiple clients that he works with remotely on any given day, and he juggles them with ease. I have a nice computer guy up here in Los Angeles, but it takes him at least twice as long as Gaddy. Gaddy is simply one of the smartest and most focused men I know. And the most determined to solve the problems of those of us who are not as computer literate. He has personally driven half-way to Los Angeles to help me out on a couple of occasions. And when I was diagnosed with brain cancer this spring, and could not drive to Laguna Niguel, he went out to Costco, bought me a new computer, loaded it and prepped it for me, and shipped it overnight to me in Los Angeles. TLDR: my computer would've been better off without this store. I came to Your Computer Store because I recently replaced my laptop's motherboard and could not boot into the bios. I explained this to them and they told me they could probably fix it for $30. I very specifically told them that I've doubled checked the connections and believe it was something going on with the motherboard (I have the yelp message to prove that too). Well, what did they end up doing? Check if what I did was correct. They opened up my laptop and confirmed that all my connection was correct. They couldn't boot into bios either and their conclusion? Something wrong with the motherboard. Broken motherboard they said. So basically they couldn't do anything that I've already done. Here's the kicker, after believing that I did a bad job installing the motherboard. THEY couldn't put it together right! They left one of the connections for the keyboard open! Meaning that they probably couldn't have booted into the bios even if the motherboard was good because not all the buttons would be recognized. Really disappointed. I took the laptop to Runner Boys and showed them how it couldn't boot into the BIOS and they immediately noticed something wrong with the keyboard connections. Since I'm already out $30 with nothing to show for, I decided to take a look personally again. Either way, I'd take my business there next time. They seem much more knowledgeable. Even knew the boot key off the top of their head. Their diagnostic fee seems to be lower too (they said $25). Edit: Just opened up my laptop and it's missing a lot of the padding that would keep the keyboard from hitting the motherboard. Now I need to go get replacement. Screws are in wrong places too. I really regret leaving my computer here. Edit2: Okay, here comes the worst part. When Gaddy called me up on the phone to inform me of my laptop's condition and told me it was a bad motherboard because he couldn't get into the BIOS and that it would only display a quarter of the screen. I very specifically asked if he looked at the dip switches and he cut me off and told me "it doesn't matter". I thought okay, I don't know much about dip switches and he seemed pretty confident in his answer so I just took that at face value. Well, guess what, the dip switches WAS the solution! I flicked them on in 1110 formation and lo and behold I get the full screen and able to enter BIOS. From there I got my laptop back up again. I'm glad I questioned this "pro repair guy" and did my research, and if you're curious, the dip switches can actually control the resolution of the screen (that's how they do different configurations). The only thing worse than no information is wrong information. Gaddy gave me the absolute wrong information. I encourage people to not bring in your favorite toy to this place, my laptop is now in worse condition then when I brought it in. Perhaps they have too many customers so they rush their job a bit, not sure, but they cracked an admittingly pretty loose hinge to begin with but cracked it nonetheless and the missing screws and the wrong screws etc. Overall, I will look elsewhere for my repairs. Very disappointed to have paid $30 and get wrong diagnosis + get my laptop back in worse condition + telling me wrong information. read more
