This was stated as I was at fault for her failing to clean up, leaving food out unwrapped, dishes unwashed... a mess. I used YPN about 12 years ago. Julie was a good and reliable pet sitter. But I found her also to be temperamental. She did not like using the counter where we do all our pet food preparation because it was too low for her. But we have a small kitchen and did not want her using the other counters. Also regarding another problematic issue, it was difficult to talk with her diplomatically. She seemed unwilling to talk through the issue to clear up any misunderstanding. Fast forward to now. I knew from seeing her advertisements etc that she was still an active pet sitter in the area and I also knew her to be reliable, so I thought I would try again to connect with her. Unfortunately, she was as recalcitrant and hot headed as ever, unwilling to work out any misunderstanding between us or to see that there might be another way of seeing things that would benefit us both. I find this distressing and unprofessional. I had hired Julie while I was gone so my husband would not have to deal with taking care of the cats in my absence. I can understand how awkward it might be to have one of the owners in the kitchen at the same time as the pet sitter preparing the cat dishes. But it is not an unusual situation although it might have been for Julie. I do not need to justify my decision. After all, it was clear that my husband would be at home in my absence when she took the job. Moreover I respect Julie's right to refuse business to certain people if she chooses. That is not the issue. The issue is that I would expect more courtesy from a professional and I was not displeased with the photo of my cat on the brochure she made. And I told her so at the time. I still have the brochure and whenever I look at it, I remember how dismaying it was when I tried to talk to Julie about it. I was not angry but I did want to inquire what she intended to do with the brochure because she had not asked permission first to take a photo of my cat to put on the brochure. And I know that one cannot photograph children without parental consent; so I felt that taking a photo of a cat to put on a business brochure without the owner's permission required some sort of discussion. It was not totally clear to me at the time that it was a gift. But before we could even get to that discussion and that I was not angry about the photo of a cat I loved dearly and who is now dead, Julie ran out of the house. It would have been helpful to have had that discussion and for us to have been on the same page in our understanding of intent. I was not comfortable with other things Julie had said but that is a minor issue. read more

Just completed our first service from Your Pets Nanny. My husband and I went out of town for 2 days and our friend that normally watches our dog was not available. With just 1 week before our trip I called YPN since I saw the company car driving around my neighborhood- decided to give them a try and called in for more details. It takes a lot of trust and to let alone a "stranger" into your home, so after speaking with the owner Julie she really helped put my mind at ease and answered all of my questions perfectly. They first schedule a "Meet and Greet" before the actual visits so they can meet your dogs and get a better grasp on what each visit would entail. This is great to set the expectation as the customer. Jesse, the assistant manager, met with my husband and was a friendly young-fellow, from what my husband observed. Since he was going to be working with us it was nice to see that our dogs would be left with a friendly and responsible person. The way they advertise their services was exactly what their company is all about and what they did for us. We have puppy cams set up so that we can watch our pups while we are out- but by them posting our dogs pictures on IG is a nice touch for us to see our babies and make sure they are in good hands. If your that big of a dog-Mama such as myself it takes a lot to trust someone with your pets.
