I can't say enough good things about Our Dog House. I've been taking Rascal here for day care for several months (with occasional overnight boarding). Every time I drop him off, I feel so confident that he will be well looked after while having loads of fun. Every member of the support staff is helpful, friendly, and accommodating. I love watching how excited Rascal is to see each of them! The staff is also extremely communicative and easy to get ahold of with their texting system. Im writhing this review solely on how my dog treated me (picture included) after not being able to attend daycare due to my neglect of realizing I hadn't updated his shots. Hubert has been going off and on for about 6 months and has fallen in love with coming there and not being able to go clearly shows disappointment! We have a very rambunctious & hyperactive Belgian malinois/dutch shepherd mix who benefits a lot from the engagement and exercise he gets there when my wife and I have long days at work. I am beyond happy with Our Dog House and all of the amazing staff that take care of my sweet Winnie! My Winnie LOVES coming here. I repeat - LOVES!!!!! She knows we are almost there when we are at a certain stop near the building, and she starts getting so excited! Every single person I have talked to has been friendly, knowledgeable, they listen if I have any concerns (she ate jeans. JEANS, so I asked if they could just keep an eye on her) and will let me know if they notice anything different in her demeanor. She isn't just a "dog we are watching" to them, they care about all of the dogs and its very evident when you watch them interacting with the dogs. She always has to say one final goodbye to whoever is up front that day with tons of kisses and a whole lot of loves - and that lets me know that she loves the people that are taking care of her! ***She also needs to make the rounds and jump "on" of any pawrents that are there to say hi, so if anyone has been jumped on by her, I'm so sorry! Lol*** I love that on holidays, birthdays, etc.. they do "photoshoots" (I attached some!) for the pawrents and oh my goodness they are amazing. They have a "Dog of the Week" which is so fun, it feels like you're getting to know the dogs that your own dog is playing with everyday! Every single dog that goes here is stinkin adorable and the pictures they take make it clear how happy all these dogs are coming to Our Dog House! Thank you, Alex, Shelby, Jasmine, Jill, (and I feel so horrible for not knowing the names of everyone that works there) for taking such good care of my Winnie girl!! whereas the staff that worked with me and my dog were wonderful "Shelby" the "district manager" Samantha Barron on the other hand is extremely unprofessional. I had a bad experience at their sister location - with a different name - I decided to try Our Dog House, unbeknownst to me has the same owner - why a different business name I don't know. After my dog had several positive stays at Our Dog House Samantha choose to write a 2 page letter, spelling errors and all, recapping the experience I had at their sister location - then cowardly had her staff hand me the letter. I would say "poor" management choice - perhaps mail the letter or send via e-mail rather than have the staff hand over the cheesy letter. Better doggy day care in the area to select from. read more

There has been a change here in the last year or so. I haven't really been able to put my finger on it but I no longer feel comfortable leaving my dog here for day care/boarding. My dog used to like coming here, and would play and play and play. Last few times it just hasn't felt right. From them telling me she was all alone in a kennel to them telling me I needed to bring CBD and a prescribed sedative for her boarding date. I had asked them every time I picked her up before that how she was doing? Was she ok? They told me everything was good and she did fine. I replied to their email and still never got a response. It just doesn't feel like the same place and I no longer trust them with my dog. read more

DISGUSTED!! I took my dog for a couple of days last week for boarding. When i picked her up, she was limping and the woman on the front office said she might have "slept wrong". A couple of days later and a visit to the vet, it turns out that she has a dislocated knee and will need surgery. This was my first time leaving my dog anywhere and im devastated. We are very very happy to find such a wonderful doggy daycare in Ventura. Our year and a half old dog loves going there for a half day which is quite a good deal. She comes back exhausted and happy. The staff is really courteous professional and focused on keeping the dogs happy. The staff there is actually pretty great. However, there was a recent outbreak of kennel cough and notification was not given to customers to prevent the spread. Signs were posted outside after several dogs were infected. Customers were told as they brought their dogs in. Several of us who are not daily customers were not aware of the outbreak. Last minute notification, some were forced to leave our pets to be exposed. When I called to ask why email notification did not occur, staff was very confrontational and argumentative stating "you can get kennel cough anywhere." She was very rude. I can' t imagine how she treated our pets. The manager "Alex" was very nice and professional. I hope they develop better communication for customers. read more

Our 5yr old Chocolate Darwin has been a part of the Our Dog House gang since he was young. Sam and the crew at ODH are his second home which makes things so much easier since he has separation anxiety. The staff love him as much as we do, and I know that because he practically jumps out of the car trying to get inside every time we pull up. Nice and large doggy hotel, our little sniffer likes playing with the other dogs and seems happy to go to the kennel. She is very happy if she gets her play time with someone or other dogs. On short two day stays she has been pretty energetic when we got her back so I wasn't sure if she got out for long or at all. The staff is nice and let's us know how our pooch has been. They also have play days available as well. We have let our dog stay at Our Dog House for short and long durations. When you call the staff may not pick up so it is best to leave a message and someone will call you back. read more

This place is great. They give a free four hour assessment to see how your dog interacts and behaves. My dog must have gotten nervous (he's never away from me) so he had potty issues. They were kind enough to call and let me know and they gave him some food to assist him. They also gave him a second bath because of it. I will use them every time I need to leave town. I wish they didn't require more vaccines than needed. My dog gets an annual bordertella vaccine and they need her to have two of these a year instead of one. My vet and I don't think this is very rational because her vaccine lasts for a whole year. But I love the staff and it's very clean. read more

Excellent!!! Our Australian Shepard has been going since March 2021 and loves it!! Her favorite and most responsive command is "DC" (daycare). It's her second home. Sam, Alex, Shelby, Jasmine, and Jasmine are professional and caring. They're supportive of all the dogs personalities and quirks. Their team works great together to ensure the safety, exercise, interaction, and wellbeing of each pup. We all enjoy a trip to Our Dog House. We brought our dogs here a few times now. Last time we were charged $100 this time we were charged $130! There's no sign telling you what the charges are. We didn't request any extras... To top it off, we picked up the dogs... The haircuts were good, but one my boyfriend had to trim more around the face of our little one and my Wheaton mix came out looking very nice, but we found a sticky clump in the hair on his ear next to his face. We tried to calm it out And then wash it out and finally tried some Gooby gone. He was wincing so we just left it alone. Later we found it was dried blood and had gotten clipped... And not in a good way. Now I understand dogs can sometimes move quickly and they might get clipped and bleed... But isn't there some responsibility to tell the owner what happened? Let us know so we can be gentle with him and not do what we did? More like a cover-up... And that to me as inexcusable. We will not be back. Maybe I'm older, but I would think that honesty and Honor still mean something to me. Sad day all around read more

Our Dog House is amazing! I have been dog sitting my sister's 16 year old Lhasa Apso for over two months. When I had to go out of town I had her stay there. The asked for one vaccination to be within 6 months where most all places ask for a year. I thought better to be safe than sorry! I had her revaccinated and the Veterinarian said it was a good thing because older and younger dogs are very susceptible to getting diseases. My sister's dog was treated beautifully! I just too my sister's dog in to be groomed. All I can say is WOW! This dog looks beautiful and is so happy! I highly recommend them to anyone with a doggy fur baby!! read more

I have lived in Ventura over 30 years. I was recommended to this place by my vet. I have given them all the papers so he can be evaluated by them. I currently use Send Rover on Over. This business has been very rude to me several times. All I wanted was the evaluation. Today was the final straw. They do not return calls or treat you with courtesy when you show up. I have had given them all the paperwork they asked for along with a health certificate from my vet. Still no luck. I hope they treat the animals better. For now I will not be using this facility. I called the company to explain I would be writing this compliant. Send Rover on Over is more professional and friendly. I was looking for a back up. Guess it was not meant to be. Buyer beware. I drove all the way from Valencia to Ventura early, to get a VERY bad attitude towards my poor very sweet dog. Complete waste of time! I wasn't told to bring her vaccination records on the phone for a temperament evaluation, otherwise I would have! I did bring all the other paper work. This snotty young woman at the front desk went to the back to "talk to the manager". Then she came out and announced that they suddenly only accept dogs to the age of 13. It was made very clear to me on the phone that they would take a 14 year old small dog who only takes one medication! They clearly have ZERO integrity. I do NOT recommend boarding your dog here!!! Our little boy Pablo frequently attends daycare and even enjoys a s'paw' day every few months. The staff at the daycare are terrific always taking exceptional care of our little guy.
