Kelly at BellaB…read more Once we knew that Covid was not going to improve enough for us to keep the wedding at a hotel in Laguna Beach, we had to accept some hard realities which included a much smaller wedding and one that would be at our house. What we feared the most was a Back Yard BBQ type feel wedding. We needed a professional. With 3 months to go, we started to interview three wedding coordinators that we found online. Right away, Kelly stood out with her professionalism, warm/friendly demeanor and impressive social media photos of past weddings/events. What was the deciding factor was how she approached our wedding vision. She asked if we wanted her to execute our vision only, or if we wanted her input. We are so glad she did not execute our vision, it would have looked like a Jr. High School Dance!! Once she shared her ideas for our wedding- we knew Kelly was the right choice and hired her quickly. Throughout the entire process and through every decision, large or small - she kept us on track, focused and not once did we feel overwhelmed, even as we had to navigate limitations due to Covid. Kelly proficiently managed everything from the Chef, Servers, DJ, Furniture Rental Company, Bartender and Cleaning Service. Considering the event had a lot of moving parts and with only 3 months to execute, Kelly handled it with ease. Reflecting back to that day, Kelly absolutely delivered. She transformed an average back yard into something out of the pages of a magazine. I didn't feel like we were at home, but rather at some high-scale, must-attend lounge in some far away place. It presented very masculine, glamorous and rich, yet not over the top or pretentious. The food was amazing, the bartender kept everyone happy, the music was exactly what we wanted. The evening flowed perfectly, which had a lot to do with Kelly. If there was a problem or last minute trip to the store, we were not aware of it, which we appreciated. Kelly really listened when we said that the most important thing for us; was to be fully immersed in the moment with our family and friends. We could not be any more happier with Kelly at BellaB. She gave us exactly what we wanted; a Perfect Day with our family and friends and a wonderful start our new life chapter together as a married couple.

However, my review is with respect to concerns over a certain lack of professionalism. I had contracted Kelly and her company's services for a Day Of coordinator for July of 2020 (of course we worked together to reschedule twice with which she was more than accommodating). We finally landed on a date of November 6th of this year. Due to some unforeseen circumstances we had to change our venue and the new venue required a Month Of coordinator as part of our contract with them. Wanting to continue with Kelly's services but add on the additional Month Of we reached out to her and set up a meeting where we detailed what the venue was asking. Kelly had let us know that she would reach out to the venue within the week to better understand what their expectations were so that she could provide us an accurate quote on the additional services needed. A week later we followed up since we had not heard anything. Two weeks after we sent a second follow up. A week after that we sent a third follow up which received an automated email stating that Kelly was handling a personal matter and that her focus currently was on weddings within the next few weeks. By this point the venue had let us know that they had not heard from Kelly and were emphasizing our need to have a coordinator as soon as possible in accordance with our agreement. We had to make a decision so we regrettably messaged Kelly in order to cancel our contract. The email was sent Sep 26, a full month after our call with Kelly and was meant to relay apologies and the unfortunate fact that the situation had changed to where we needed to cancel. I had asked her a question about receiving a refund on our deposit knowing of course that we were not entitled to it as detailed in our original agreement but just wanting to see if there was flexibility given that we hadn't received any coordination services at that point as well as the unusual nature of the pandemic surrounding our agreement. I received no response to my email. Or any of the emails sent to her over the span of a month. She simply cancelled our invoice and contract, and left it at that. This response, or lack there of has really left me with an unfavorable impression and as I mentioned reflects poorly on Bella B's professionalism. When hiring Kelly's services please keep this in mind as I would not wish someone to experience this during the stressful time that is planning a wedding. For reference, as of posting this review I have still not received any kind of correspondence from Kelly that would at the very least serve as a courteous well wishes which is what I offered her despite a month of radio silence. We may not have been top priority for her but we were still a client and we did not receive a bare minimum response which you would expect from a coordinator service.

Know in advance: If you want to work with her, you must have a clear idea of what you want, but you mustn't try to micro-manage her. Simply put, the best way to work with her is to tell her what you want, let her do her thing, and keep in touch along the way. Following this model, she has helped her clients give wonderful parties. I write this review as one who has assisted her on several events. As for Rachel S.'s review -- well, the woman is an anomaly among Julie's clients. And I know whence I speak. To say she was trying to deal with would be putting it lightly. She was already anxious and behind schedule when she hired Julie. As far as her invitations were concerned, she sent the assignment without a clear definition of what she wanted but was ready with complaints when it didn't come out right. She also assigned Julie to mail the invitations for her but didn't bother to supply a return address. When it came to planning the actual event, if Julie disagreed with her on even smaller points, such as floral arrangements -- well, she didn't take disagreement too well. This review may sound like back-biting, but I assure all of you other readers that this is not what I intend. I simply mean to caution you that Rachel S., I think, represents the exception. Those who bring Julie ideas of what they want -- with enough time to get them -- and the confidence to let her do what she does well will not be disappointed.

I am both a young professional and a student, so I did not have an overwhelming budget. However, I explained to Julie that I wanted to stretch my budget as much as possible and throw an amazing party, so she did just that! Julie took care of everything; I didn't have to lift a finger. She was not overbearing or annoying, either. I told her what I was going for and she completely made it happen without having to call me 50 times per day! The food was spectacular, perhaps the best party food I've ever had. All of my party guests went out of their way to compliment the delicious food, especially the appetizers! They were so well-presented too! They looked like edible art! Julie made sure the music and the decorating were perfect, too. By the end of the night, everybody was dancing. As for the bar, well, Julie knew exactly what to serve so that all of my party guests were happy. I'm not much of a drinker, so I had no idea what to buy. She even hired a funny, friendly bartender to keep my guests entertained and their glasses full. If you are thinking of planning a party, definitely call Julie Brown first! Debbie was everything we wanted in a wedding officiant. We called several officiants, many of which…read morewere charging more than we were able to and wanting to pay. Debbie was the most affordable of the bunch! But that by no means diminishes the return on our investment. When I first took a call with Debbie, she was very easy to talk to, and was already providing value even within our icebreaker conversation. She recommended a caterer and a florist before we had even signed the contract, and we ended up using the caterer. From the onset, Debbie was easily accessible through text and email. We first spoke to her by phone on November 8, and she emailed the contract over immediately. We finally booked her on November 21st, without a drop of pressure from her, as our wedding officiant on December 31, 2023. Upon signing the contract, she immediately emailed us a questionnaire for my wife and I to fill out, from which she would build our custom ceremony. About a week later, she gave us a deadline for the questionnaire; at a time when so many things are demanding of so much time -deadlines are crucial. All the while we would text about random questions such as who traditionally stands where? and how long our ceremony and/or sand ceremony should be? We texted on multiple occasions leading up to, and after the wedding. By the time the ceremony came, I felt like I had gotten to know Debbie, so on the day of the ceremony when she arrived early, everything felt natural and comfortable. Debbie spoke with authority and confidence. Just as I was personally beginning to feel the stress of our guests' arrivals, Debbie immediately surveyed the layout, and directed herself straight to our witnesses (our mothers) and my day of "coordinator" so to speak (my mom), to get the paperwork out of the way. Debbie managed to talk to my wife and I individually, both of our mothers (to help signal for the processional), both of our fathers (to walk us to the altar), and probably the DJ (processional music) to make sure things went as smoothly as possible. As soon as the ceremony began, the nerves began to subside. We were in awe of being able to finally take in what we (my wife and I) had accomplished. We had executed the most beautiful backyard wedding ambiance and decor, and we were wed by the most amazing and professional wedding officiant. Debbie held our vow books and even passed us tissues, and held a mini trashcan for us to drop our tissues into. We are grateful for Debbie, and the way she made us feel every step of the way. The sand ceremony was such a fun part of our ceremony, and we love the fact that we get to look our sand ceremony keepsake jar on our shelf and reminisce about our wedding day. Many thanks to Debbie, someone whom I now personally consider a friend, and forever a part of our lives.

It was not until our photographer, the ultra-talented Tiffani Matsuura of Sun & Sparrow, advised us to, at least, have someone handle things the day-of, that we earnestly discussed it. She gave me Nicole's information, and that in itself was a true gift. Despite being on a well-deserved vacation in Hawaii, Nicole returned my call right away. She gave and gave of her time (and coupons), even going shopping, not with, but FOR me. When we asked about doing a rehearsal with little heads-up, she happily obliged. She listened. She advised. She was honest. She made it easy to hand over the reins, sit back, and enjoy the ride. She made our family and friends feel special and comfortable. Our wedding day guests were greeted by her lovely smile, and the beauty that she and my other fantastic vendors breathed into the event. My day was a smashing success, forever etched in my heart and memory. Nicole gave me peace of mind - the FREEDOM to enjoy a sacred day I had waited for since understanding the meaning of marriage. Nicole also gave her friendship, freely and without agenda. If all the work she put into my wedding wasn't enough, when the event was over, she was still there for me. Knowing we were leaving for our two-week honeymoon the next day, she offered to store all of our gifts at her home until we returned, and helped load our car (!!) when we came by to pick them up! We found Kat before the lockdown at a bridal expo and immediately hit it off. She was so easy to talk to and personable. It was important to us to like our coordinator and she fit the bill! We hired her right away as a day-of coordinator and shortly after, the pandemic hit us. We had to postpone our wedding date for THREE YEARS. She honored her original price and stuck with us the whole time. When it came time to start planning again she was right there ready to go. She encouraged us to reach out to her about any questions we had about any aspect of the wedding. She was available via email, text, phone call, you name it. Planning a wedding is like a small infinity of work. Each task seems to generate three or four more tasks. But Kat was there with answers and options to help us navigate the whole experience. She provided so much help and assurance while planning. By the time the day had arrived she had developed a very detailed timeline with a plan for everything and a contingency plan for every plan. It was certain that nothing would go wrong, and nothing did. Not a single thing was missed. On the day of, I could swear there were twenty copies of her and she'd been working since 5am. Of course that wasn't true but her efficiency and attention to detail was so great that it seemed so. She came with two assistants and so while she was busy managing me and the bride, and both our wedding parties, and our parents, she was also managing her team. Her and her team did our centerpieces, she made sure we (two wedding parties, bride and groom, parents) were in the right place at the right time, knew where we were going next and what was going to happen, and that nothing was missing. She also made sure we had coffee, water, food, beer, whatever. All my wife and I had to worry about was how to say our vows through all the happy tears. I will forever recommend Kat for anybody's wedding and I already have. She is amazing. Hire her!
