I whole heartedly believe that finding Master Plans (Yingka and her team) was a blessing for my wife and me, given all that we had been through. Short backstory - we hired another wedding planner prior to Master Plans and that was a disaster from the beginning. We ended up terminating that contract but the damage had been done. Planning a wedding in general is stressful but it was also supposed to be fun. That first wedding planner really sucked all of the fun and excitement up to that point. Honestly, we were both down in the dumps because we are very trusting people and we felt betrayed and lied to. By some miracle, I was on IG and saw an old classmate following Master Plans. I reached out to her and she had nothing but positive things to say about Yingka and her team. My wife and I spoke to Yingka and since that initial consultation, the energy, optimism, and FUN came back. Things I appreciated about Yingka and her team: - while my wife and I were stressed at different points in our wedding planning, Yingka has a quiet confidence about her and she was always calm and reassuring. An example - my wife was indecisive on the florist leading up to 3 weeks before the wedding so I was freaking out. Yingka kept cool and got us through it - Yingka and her team were always REALLY responsive. I am detail oriented and a little nit-picky, but her team was nice and answered all of my questions (and let me tell you - there were a lot of questions since I am 1) a man and 2) very unfamiliar with the whole process) - they really have the whole process planned out to a T. Leading up to the wedding, there was constant communication between Master Plans and the wedding party. On the day of, everything was planned in 10-15 min increments to make sure EVERYTHING WENT ACCORDING TO PLAN - they went above and beyond their scope of work with all of the assistance that they provided, leading up to the wedding and the day of - Yingka's network of vendors is expansive. She provided recommendations regarding vendors that she has worked with and we ended up choosing a photographer that she was familiar with. That photographer did an absolutely amazing job and my wife and I were thrilled with how the photos turned out - they have a treasure trove of wedding day knick knacks that they can provide to enhance the look and feel of your wedding - she is a preferred vendor at Terranea! We started working with Yingka and her staff at the end of 2019 for what would have been our July 2020 wedding (25 person wedding). By the time the pandemic happened, we were pretty much all done planning the wedding. It was going to be at Wayfarer's/Terranea and super beautiful. Unfortunately we had to cancel it due the virus. During the planning process, Yingka and her team were awesome. I had her help with the design and it was clear the wedding was going to be gorgeous. Yingka is super knowledgeable and you can tell she's just good at her job. I agree with the other reviews saying she's very reliable. We ended up planning a small backyard wedding in October 2020 at my in-laws' house and Yingka helped us put that together in a month. It was really beautiful. Found this place on yelp, met with Yingka for no other reason except that they had the most affordable rates. From the start, everyone I interacted with always projected a very professional image. I ended up getting the Wedding Day Direction package and was assigned Malinda as my coordinator. From the very beginning, Malinda was always there. She didn't need to be because I hired her way in advance and way before she was obligated to do anything, but she was always very organized and communicative. I don't think she ever took more than 24 hours to respond to any email, and that's really saying something considering how many I sent her! She was a great calming influence leading up to the wedding and was an absolute trooper considering she was very pregnant. Malinda is not just a great coordinator; she is a genuinely good person. She is attentive to all details, no matter how small, and she never made me feel like I was being neurotic and crazy even when I knew I was being neurotic and crazy. During my wedding, she just handled everything. I didn't even know there were any issues because she just dealt with them. I've had the good fortune of working with Yingka before, and in my 10 years in the wedding industry, she still in my opinion is the best coordinator I've ever worked with. When it came time for my 10 year vow renewal, I knew it had to be her! Being a wedding vendor myself, I didn't want to worry or obsess over any details at all. I told Yingka I wanted it to be pretty, intimate and chill. I sent her a few photos, connected her with the vendors and then was more or less completely hands off! Haha I didn't want to worry about anything at all! I was happily oblivious to anything going on in the background! When the day finally came. I was beyond floored!! Her team had transformed the garden in to a separate dining AND vow renewal area (this required moving a lot of the furniture around!!) I had not expected this at all! She completely transformed the space, and set up everything perfectly!! The night ran so smoothly! Her team ended up wearing many hats and stepping in for vendors that had emergencies and vendors that were short handed! (I had no idea till later!) At the end of the night she even gently let me know when a certain vendor was here or there so I could say hello and thank you to them! Never having been married before, I had no idea what a wedding planner did and to this day I am not sure all the work they did behind the scenes. That said, these guys were CLUTCH leading up to the wedding. To start, they had knowledge of and relationships with multiple vendors that we actually did end up going with (including our florist) and because they knew what it was we were looking for, they were able to personalize the offerings to us. As we started getting closer to the actual wedding date, they slowly started assembling all the necessary stuffs including the vendor contracts and contact numbers, and they helped me navigate a situation with a vendor that was potentially fraudulent. Their impact was especially evident in the days leading up to the wedding, where they had entire timelines created, and come our wedding day, they were essential in ensuring everyone was where they needed to be and when they needed to be there, even helping our photographer get shots after the ceremony. Yingka & the talented team at MPE planned and beautifully executed my wedding this past weekend. Yingka made my vision for a clean, modern, chic & intimate wedding a true reality. We hired Yingka to do our florals and day-of coordination for our early October wedding in Palos Verdes. She was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We immediately trusted Yingka over the other florists we met with. She quickly understood what we wanted, and her suggestions were perfectly in line with our own ideas. We had a very intimate wedding of about 60 guests, so i told myself that i could handle the planning. Abut 4 months before the wedding, I became very overwhelmed with all the details. My friend recommended I reach out to Yingka, who planned her wedding, which I had attended 2 years prior. Yingka got back to me right away, and we met over coffee a few days later. I used Master Plans Events for day of coordination (reception only) and floral for my wedding. Yingka and MPE were recommended by the reception venue that I had chosen. I chose Yingka for the day of coordination and she brought additional coordinators to help throughout the entire day. We had a church ceremony and Yingka was already familiar with that church and had worked with the event manager at our reception venue as well. That was a definite plus and it made me feel more comfortable that she knew the ins and outs of the ceremony and reception locations. For coordinating, although we did reception only, Yingka was VERY organized and made sure all of the details, including some of the ceremony items, were covered. Additionally, we incorporated a Korean tradition into our reception and she was already knew what to do, so it helped with the execution and planning. Yingka and her assistants went to the venue early on and set up everything to where it looked like it could come out of a magazine. The flowers, table settings, decorations were perfect. Her staff met with me the day before and picked up all of the items that were needed for the reception. They even provided some extra decoration items that I did not have. Yingka stayed until the very end and even made sure that we didn't leave anything behind!!! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Yingka and MPE for any event or floral work. For floral, when I spoke to Yingka about what I wanted, she knew exactly what I was looking for and even provided great suggestions with the minimal detail I gave her. We also met prior to the wedding for a floral mockup at the venue which was great because it started to bring all of the planning to reality. MPE was also there at every critical moment: they made sure we were running according to schedule, Yingka cleaned up my makeup after I cried unexpectedly, she helped me bustle my dress when my MOH wasn't around, and their team brought food and water out to my husband and me when the buffet line opened up so we didn't have to worry about getting our own food. I was asked by multiple people why I was so calm throughout the wedding planning process and on wedding day, and the reason is because I knew I had an amazing team that I could trust and depend on to execute on wedding day. I found out after the wedding that there were a few hiccups with some of our vendors (that's expected but still not ideal), but because MPE took care of everything, I had no idea there were any problems on wedding night. This review is overdue. Yingka and her team planned and coordinated our wedding (180 guests) over two years ago, and she also did all the floral arrangements. She was a great match for us and helped keep us focused and calm when things seemed to get a little overwhelming. She was able to recommend good vendors and many times went beyond the call of duty (ordering our cake from JJ Bakery, addressing our invites, etc.). On the day of the wedding Yingka and her team transformed the ballrooms at the La Cañada-Flintridge Country Club and gave us a wedding we will always remember. The floral arrangements were especially spectacular. I have to start by saying that Yingka is the sweetest person. All-in-all, I think our wedding turned as pefect as can be, much of it had to do with Yingka and her team. She took care of our flowers, centerpieces, table linens, sweetheart table, etc. Initially Yingka came over our house for a consultation and then we met her at the venue to go over colors and centerpiece designs. She completely worked with our ideas and pretty much took care of everything else. Of course we didn't get to see the final result until the big day and man...did it blow us away! What ever Yingka charges you, take that amount and multiply it by 3. Even then you feel that she should be charging you more. We had a wedding of 400 at a venue where you have to bring in everything from the toothpicks to the lighting on your own. We thought we would be able to plan this, how hard can it be right? Nope! Yingka is amazing! She provided all kinds of beautiful florals for our wedding in May 2013, and at such a great price. She can take as little or as much direction as you want to give regarding design. She was able to perfectly replicate designs in photos I'd passed to her (while changing flowers out to make things cheaper for me), and for the stuff that I was clueless about, she created huge arrangements that were far better than what I could have imagined. I think my only big regret about the wedding was that we did not have Yingka as our planner. She is so organized and smart, business-minded but very warm. Hiring Master-Plans events for our flowers was the BEST decision we made in the wedding planning process. Our cake was great, our DJ was awesome, and the reception venue was perfect, but the ONE thing that guests are still talking about a month later is our gorgeous flowers. I really can't explain how exceptionally beautiful they turned out. I had been referred to Yingka by a mutual friend, but I hesitated to reach out for months because I worried that she and her team might not have the level of experience I was looking for (totally wrong). Finally, with only a month to go before my Valentine's Day wedding, I called up Yingka in desperation and was shocked that she was not only free, but was willing to work within my budget. I had spoken with other florists and received quotes for twice the cost that Master-Plans charged me. Flowers on Valentine's Day are not cheap, and I still have no idea how Yingka managed to produce such stunning bouquets and centerpieces while staying within budget. Truly amazing. When Yingka arrived at the hotel that morning (punctual as ever!) with the bouquets, I was thrilled. They were stunning. And when I saw how fantastic my groom's boutonniere looked up on the altar, I was over-the-moon. But it wasn't until I arrived at the reception venue and saw what a phenomenal job she'd done with the centerpieces that she earned her place in my book as the best vendor of all time. Each table had three different types of vases, filled with beautiful assortments of peach, pink, and white roses. The filler flowers were gorgeous, too. She really went above and beyond all my expectations. If you're still not sure if you should hire Yingka and her incredible team, here's one final tidbit: My mom has never been a big fan of flowers (something about reminding her of funerals, haha), but one month after our wedding she is STILL talking about how gorgeous the flowers were. We worked with Malinda as our day of coordinator for our ceremony and reception at the La Canada Flintridge Country Club and I cannot say enough amazing things!! The venue set us up with her about two weeks before the ceremony and she was a perfect match! She was a bundle of energy and kept everyone laughing, on track, and organized. The day of, she calmed me down and made sure everything ran as it was supposed to! I thought I was highly organized-Malinda blew me away. She was on her email at 6:45AM responding to documents I had sent her; no detail was overlooked and she had my vision down with only the diagrams she had me fill out. She was perfect! I would HIGHLY recommend using Master Plans for EVERYTHING. Had I known they did more full service-I would've recruited Malinda to help me with more! I recently hired Master Plan Events and Yingka Chou for my wedding early July 2016. There were many packages, and we went with the Reception only package (Ceremony - Wayfarers Chapel, Reception - Portofino Hotel). Yingka was very organized, managed the event perfectly and ensured our programs were on track with the planned timeline. Yingka went out of her way to understand what's important to me and my wife, and clearly communicated our expectations to all vendors. As a result, my wife and I had the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the moment. Yingka was also our florist. Her packages were reasonably priced, and had a great eye for elegance/design. The flowers were gorgeous. I can go on and on about all the things that went well, but I believe what makes Yingka/Master Plan so great is the ability to solve problems real time. Here's a list of last minute surprises: 1. Roses for the Moms - On the day before our wedding at 6 pm, we forgot to place an order for individual roses for the moms. I gave Yingka a call, and she reassured us that it was not a problem. This was supposed to be presented to the moms after we exchanged vows. She was able to deliver on the last minute request, and by 10 am on our wedding day, we were ready to go with beautiful roses in hand. 2. Surprise Guest - We had an intimate wedding of ~80 people. 1 hour before the reception grand entrance, we had +2 adults +2 kids surprise guest show up. I told Yingka our situation, and she immediately coordinated all logistics/meals with the banquet director, and created hand written place cards. She immediately pulled out her seating arrangements, and suggested several adjustments to the seating chart. She analyzed all the possible alternatives, and helped me make the best decision. All I had to do was give the approval, and problem solved. 3. Wedding Dress Touch up - 20 minutes before the reception grand entrance, we had another emergency. My wife and I learned a choreographed first dance (Foxtrot) , but never practiced the dance in her wedding dress. As our dance had many moves going forward and backwards, she stepped on her dress during the transition moments. I told Yingka about my concern, and she took out her sewing kit. Within real time, Yingka pinned the dress together and made it easier for my wife to walk around without sacrificing the design/appearance. Yingka was absolutely our life saver, and the first dance was perfect. 4. Sparkler send off - We were very ambitious with our wedding program, and incorporated sparklers at the end of the reception. At 10:30 pm, the weather at the Portofino was very windy and humid. It was difficult to light up 1 sparkler, let alone, coordinate it for 80 people. We did not give Yingka any clear instructions, and all we provided were the materials. She owned the event, and commanded our guest and vendors with ease. She communicated all safety instructions, organized a method to light up all the sparklers, and made it happen. I could go on and on with many other examples. Overall, we truly enjoyed our partnership with the Master Plan Events and Yingka Chou. I would recommend her company to anybody looking for a dependable, experienced, and fun wedding coordinator.
