BUT the food is still fantastic! Great Indonesian restaurant with an intriguing menu! This family run restaurant is smallish but can probably seat around 26 people. Probably not ideal for multiple large groups at the same time but we made reservations early, and easily got a reservation for 8ppl. These were our shared menu choices (shared by 4ppl): ~ Salad Daun Teh Hijau $14 (green tea leaf salad w.cabbage, tomatoes, beans & green chillies): tasty Indonesian version of the tea leaf salad! I prefer the Burmese version but this salad was pretty tasty! ~ Nasi Lemak Rendang $17.75 (Beef Rendang w.spicy egg, anchovy, pickles; w.coconut rice): the portion size of beef rendang was very small but this dish was probably not meant for sharing, and more of an individual plate. We had the mango slushies the first time, and the only drinks available was whatever bottle drinks they have in the fridge. Mind you, they dont serve you water, so you have to get drinks since the food is garlicky or spicy. We wound up getting the milk tea ice rice this time. It was ok. I never tried it, but the rice is a bit hard. I won't order again. Best dish is large eggplant. Very flavorable, maybe a bit too garlicky. Will order this again. Also, the chicken wing is huge, for the price of $3 each. Thats why we ordered 2 chicken wing this time. But, I think it wasnt grilled as nice as my first time. Still good since it is a lot of meat for the price of $3. Lotus root is also pretty good, glazed with sugar. The worst i would say is the lamb, a bit too chewy, lack of flavor. It was so cold out the night I went so I was very happy they kept it nice and warm inside the restaurant. There's a very large selection of skewers, they have basically everything you could want. The seasoning was delicious, and every skewer was not coated in identical seasoning. None of it was spicy at all if that's what you're looking for, but none were lacking in flavor. I'm still thinking about the crunchy exterior of the rice cake. I think my favorite skewer was the lotus root, which was perfecting complimented by the seasoning mix. My go to here is always the pad Thai. My only complaint is that the dried tofu use to be a lot better and use to soak up the delicious sauces making every bite of tofu super flavorful. They did change their tofu a few years ago but the flavor of the pad Thai is still one of my favorite around so I have learned to accept it and move past it. Definitely one of my favorite Thai places and I could just be biased from my childhood memories but the pad Thai will definitely never disappoint!
