Finally tried this Halal Yumminess!!! Got the Smash Cheeseburger & Lamb & Chicken Gyro a little salty but delicious!!! Both delicious especially the burger!!! Definitely come try this place!! Burgers were so juicy & everything just melts in your mouth!! Pretty good prices too!! Friendly staff!!

I got the mix platter, which honestly was just okay. The meat tasted mediocre, sauces could've been more flavorful, and the fries were soggy. Portions are huge though, so each platter can easily be split into 2 meals. Come here for quantity, not quality.

Quite possibly the best halal spot in Queens. Open late, I tried their lamb and chicken combo at only $10. It was an enormous amount of food, that no possible way one person can finish. The rice was well seasoned, lamb was juicy and chicken was tasty. The salad was the freshest I ever had from a halal place, tasted like Mediterranean salad from a Greek restaurant. Make sure to try their special Huncho's sauce with the white sauce!

im quite speachless. maybe emotional. this meal changed my life. i'm a lifelong customer; i'm taking my ass to Astoria every week for this. Hunchos mannnnn, theyre doing it right. Affordable, big portions, flavor forward, with good quality and such a kind staff. Blown away. Ordered the lamb & chicken platter, and the spicy fried chicken sandwhich for less than $20. Platter came with fries and some salad. So good. juicy, flavorful, the best halal ive had in NYC. Chicken sandwhich was great! Tender, tangy, great crunch. I don't know, im speechless.

Clean interior, friendly service, good food, good value. $10 for chicken and lamb platter, which comes with two sides of your choice. The lamb was not my favorite, but the chicken was ok. The salad tasted nice and fresh, and the hummus was smooth. I asked for the sauce on the side, and they encouraged me to try different sauces in addition to the one I requested. There is some seating indoors but probably not enough for bigger groups.

Hunchos never disappoints. The food tastes amazing, the service is equally as amazing, their staff is always so friendly!! My personal go to is lamb platter it's SO good, lived in NYC my whole life and this is my favorite halal spot ever. Their chicken is also really good and juicy, I just prefer lamb. Generous portions and generous with the sauces. Hunchos sauce comes in a spicy and non spicy it's almost like a sweet savory sauce, so good!! Their white sauce is super dill forward which I love! There's seats inside if you want to eat there. I just can't say enough good things, I literally come here every month at least once or twice! The photo I already took a bite because I forgot and it was too good

Delicious Mixed Platter at an Amazing Price! I tried the mixed platter that I saw on TikTok, and it did not disappoint! For just $15, you get a generous serving of basmati rice, chicken, lamb, falafel balls, crispy fries, a fresh salad topped with hummus, and grilled pita bread--plus a variety of sauces to choose from. Everything was packed with flavor, and I absolutely loved it! The portion size is great for the price, and the combination of tastes and textures was spot on. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of seating it's limited. The staff were great he was welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable meal!

Went to the new location in Uniondale and it was amazing. Food fresh, tasty, place clean, front end guy was so friendly. He had us try the chicken and lamb since it was our first time. And it was affordable. All good things. Will be back again.

The fries were really good. The smash burger was really good too, it had the perfect amount of caramelized onions. Your also able to ask for extra sauce if you want.

AMAZING! I came in with my friends and we had the best customer service! I don't have a preference for Halal food, however i would rather eat here than a regular place. Simply amazing so great. We even got two smash burgers on the house! I am so pleased and happy!

Live right across the street. Was waiting months for this place to open. Went on the grand opening they gave everyone free platters and everything was delicious the rice the chicken the lamb even the sauces taste different from regular halal food spots. Went the next day again and got a chicken sandwich and steak platter and god damn it was hittin.

I've been to a few good Halal food spots, but this place is something else. Saw a video online about it and was not disappointed. We got 3 pcs of fried catfish, two smash burger combos that comes with fries and a choice of drink, and a chicken platter with rice, pita, and fries. Added another patty on each not knowing that the regular already had two still wasn't disappointed. The flavor of the fish was amazing and they were huge. The burgers were the most valid delicious smash burgers I've ever had. Some of the best overall burgers I've eaten. I recommend getting the Huncho sauce ask for like 2 with each meal. The service was top notch they even gave my family and I more sauces to take home. I will be coming back best believe. Worth the price we paid for all that food. They know what they're doing. It's a nice clean place to enjoy a meal.

We were thrilled to find two seats at the end of the bar when we arrived. As luck would have it, the two gentlemen next to us eventually left, allowing us to slide over and enjoy an even better view of the TV for the rest of the game. I started with a Tito's and club soda, but unfortunately, something seemed off--perhaps the club soda was flat. The drink just wasn't good. To their credit, the bartender took it back without hesitation and was very accommodating. I then ordered a Negroni after the woman sitting next to us highly recommended it. I don't usually drink gin, but this cocktail was absolutely delicious and changed my mind. Since we were there for several hours, we shared an order of zucchini and eggplant chips and happily snacked on them throughout the game. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, with a nice mix of ages and people enjoying the evening. We made sure to leave our bartender a generous tip since we occupied our seats for the entire game. Even though the Knicks didn't pull out a win that night, we certainly didn't leave defeated. I'd happily return for another game, cocktail, and fun evening out. And maybe even get dinner there. Little did I know there was another big room in the ack once you past the restrooms. They were having a thriving business there!

He was constantly busy zippin around but maintained a nice demeanor and made everyone feel welcome! Must orders of mine: the burger! Although small, it comes out piping hot and the fresh white onion between the bottom bun and burger is awesome because it doesn't make the bottom bun soggy and catches all the juices from the actual meat. Love subbing the fries for a Caesar salad! Standout appetizer is the fried zucchini and eggplant with tzatziki-- crispy, hot, juicy and I get it every time!

Monkey Bar became one of my favorite Midtown restaurants because its modern history ran almost…read moreperfectly alongside my years in New York. I arrived in 2008 with very little, and when Graydon Carter revived the restaurant in 2009, I was beginning a rise of my own, first at a large global bank and then, to my astonishment, at one of the city's most powerful investment firms. The suits were daily, the walls were gold, and the pressure was so consuming that even success could feel like a form of attrition. After a few years, I moved to a smaller firm with Southern roots, where the culture was more humane, the work gave me greater autonomy, and I produced some of the strongest results of my career, even within an industry still governed by fear, greed, and status. Inside, the red booths, low lighting, generous spacing, and hand-painted monkey murals made lunch feel ceremonial without becoming stiff. The room was timeless and handsome, with polished service, quality food, and the subtle assurance of a place where you could be proud to bring someone important. I especially remember sitting in one of those booths with two mentors, each only a few years older than I was and therefore close enough in vintage to feel relatable, trustworthy, and genuinely within reach. One had entered my life after I left the larger firm and helped me understand an earlier chapter that had also ended abruptly and, at the time, felt deeply unfair; the other had guided me through the smaller firm where I finally found a more sustainable way to work. Over that long lunch, I introduced them, we discussed several promising ideas, and for a moment my career seemed to have reached the point where relationships, experience, and opportunity were finally converging. One of those ideas consumed an extraordinary amount of my time and energy, and I believed it might become the foundation of my next chapter. Instead, the arrangement eventually turned on me, the role I thought I had earned never materialized, and the business itself sputtered. My professional life, financial footing, and pride all collapsed just as COVID was beginning. Then Monkey Bar closed in 2020, which made the ending feel almost unnervingly complete: the restaurant, the city, and the version of myself built around New York finance all went dark at once. For years, I experienced that ending as devastating and unfair; now I can see it as wisdom delivered through an unnecessarily rough process. The restaurant's later revival by a Chicago hospitality group feels fitting because it still honors tradition and ceremony while allowing the old forms to evolve into something healthier, looser, and more current. I have not been back since that lunch, but a return now would feel like visiting the museum of my past, not reclaiming a life that asked too much, gave too little, and finally lost its hold on me. Even now, I remember Monkey Bar as a great Midtown lunch in a memorable room, surrounded by the residue of old ambitions and the gratitude of having survived them. The cocktails were sharp, the service was impeccable, and the dining room carried that glamorous old New York energy without feeling trapped by it. I remain deeply fond of the place, partly for what it was and partly for what it witnessed. Some restaurants become attached to a chapter of your life, and Monkey Bar holds mine with unusual grace.

It featured a crispy, sugar-glazed exterior and a soft, chewy interior, topped with truffle cheese and served with a truffle butter dip; the pairing was superb, and it tasted great both on its own and with the dip. For the main course, I ordered the miso-glazed black cod. The flavor was flawless, and while the portion was small (which was acceptable), the pool of broth accompanying it was completely unnecessary; it was inedibly salty, so what was the point of serving it? After finishing the fish, I was left with a plate full of broth, rendering the plate unusable. Plus, it was overpriced; for this dish, you're better off going to Strip House Strip House remains the undisputed king of this dish in New York. A friend ordered the chicken parmesan. It was just average. Another friend ordered the short rib stroganoff. The flavor was decent, but it was far too rich and heavy. As someone whose palate is split 50/50 between Western and Chinese cuisine, I could manage only five bites at most. If you have a palate that prefers 100% Chinese food, proceed with caution on this dish. Friends ordered sides of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. These are dishes originally meant for low-income Americans to fill up on cheaply; there's no limit to how good they can be, but also no floor to how bad they can get. Both were on par with the average quality found in upscale restaurants. Honestly, these are two dishes I would never order myself. To sum up: the atmosphere was great. It's also hard to get a reservation; the place was packed when we had lunch at 2 PM. Aside from that monkey bread, I didn't feel like anything else justified the price or offered something you couldn't find elsewhere. I don't quite get the hype. Perhaps I just didn't order the right dishes; maybe next time I'll try the burger and the steak.
