I've been to all of the supposed "donut or doughnut" places in the twin cities, St. Paul, and the suburbs/west metro. I have to say this place makes the freshest doughnuts. Each one is not too heavy, extremely moist without being too chewy, and full of flavor. You never question what it is you are eating! For being located right off of 62, the location is easy to get to. And unlike other shops, the baked goods are not overpriced. Today, I purchased a red velvet cake donut w/ cream cheese frosting, a cinnamon sugar croissant cronut, and a raised espresso glazed donut. The cake donut was perfect, verb moist and chewy with a rich red velvet flavor and cream cheese frosting that was not too sweet and made a perfect combination. The croissant cronut was not greasy which was heavenly because every other place that does cronuts is a wreck waiting to happen. The raised espresso glaze donut was amazing. Perfectly raised, with a wonderful glaze flavor that is a crowd favorite. Overall, best donut place in MN. They also have dogwood espresso and home made ice cream. I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty surprised by the number of 5 star reviews here. Are these very good, serviceable donuts that will get the job done? Absolutely. Were they deserving of our friends hyping them for months? Sadly, I would say no. As our other friend who is more realistic commented, these are akin to a high quality grocery store donut. Incredibly frustrated and disappointed, completely lost our custom order I put in weeks ahead of time after going through it in detail on the phone. Got a call a week before the party saying they lost the date for my order. I called back and left a message with the date and my contact information and never heard from them again. Went to pick up on the expected date and they couldn't even find our invoice for a while. Finally found it, but had never made the order. Great experience. Someone from work brought some donuts from here into work a while ago and I had been meaning to go there myself before work one morning. I finally decided to do it today. To say their donuts are delicious is an understatement. There are tons of bakeries popping up all over the place, it seems. This one is worth trying, if you haven't. Plus it helps that the staff are super friendly and helpful, which is something I could guarantee wouldn't be most people at that time in the morning. We frequent here a lot. The donuts are amazing, great variety and always so fresh, I haven't had one I don't like here. Everyone is so nice that works here. We also get iced lattes a lot. I think they make their own syrup versions so they aren't like usual lattes you'd expect, they are so much better and made with such care. Price is pretty good as well for what you get here. As a city dweller I'm predisposed to think there's nothing redeeming in the suburbs and anything worth having is in Mpls or St. Paul. Yo Yo challenges this predisposition. I got there late, so things were a bit picked through. Maple Bacon long johns long gone. I found the variety fine, but not many things as exotic as the Glam Doll selection. That said, Yo Yo's Key Lime Pie donut can stand up proud against anything at Glam Doll. Might be the best donut I've ever had. Other lemon donuts were aces too. Basic donuts great as well. The one that didn't work for me was the Cocoa Puffs donut. The cereal goes stale quickly, and honestly, slapping cereal on a donut ain't exactly artful. The dough is a serious winner on all donuts. As creative as Glam Doll is I sometimes find the donut itself dry. Never an issue here. Prices are pretty good compared to other places but to be fair other places make bigger donuts. Great choice for donuts on the western burbs. Deserves to be on anyone's donut rotation. read more

I stopped in on my way out of town after reading a friend's recommendation earlier that day. I walked in at 3pm on a Friday and there were still plenty of donuts to choose from. I could only pick as many as I could eat because I didn't want to carry donuts on my plane, so I went with the maple bacon long john and the fruity pebbles covered white frosted donut. Both were delicious as I sat in the airport and waited for boarding! They still tasted morning-fresh, even the fruity pebbles topping, and the flavor of the cake donut was really good. After seeing a few coworkers post pictures of some nice selections of donuts from YoYo, I decided to venture out from Lakeville to give them a shot. My husband is a sweet tooth junky, and if it has sugar, he's gazing over the menu and picking a handful of goods to try out. I'll NEVER be the early bird lined up to by donuts between the hours of 6-8 am, so sometimes I'm left with slim pickings by the time I roll in. Not the case this time! The girl at the counter was super friendly and helpful. I ordered a decent variety including the creme brûlée, raised sugar donuts, the s'mores donut, the glazed old fashioned, then powdered,frosted, and cinnamon sugar cake donuts, as well as getting a cold brew coffee. The coffee was pretty darn good... the donuts.. well they ranged from pretty good to not so great. The old fashioned glazed, powdered cake donuts and glazed donut holes were moist and tasty. The s'mores donut also was pretty good... moist,chewy, and you really did get the s'mores flavor. My husband was a fan of the crème brûlée, and for what it's worth it is a more unique flavor profile for a donut.. so no complaints there! All of the other raised donuts were surprisingly hard along with the other donut hole flavors. The ones with fruity pebbles and Cocoa puffs we're not good at all.. they were very hard, and the cereal definitely tasted stale. I'm sure some of that has to do with the fact the donuts are made in the early morning hours... But I've certainly been to other shops later in the day and had fresher. I had 8-9 donuts and the coffe & donut holes.. $26.. so not cheap! These aren't the gourmet donuts with inventive flavorings that you would find at glam doll or Mojo monkey, but definitely a wider variety than most traditional donut shops.Overall, I'd say this is a decent shop to visit. Certainly more variety than some of the other traditional donut shops. and a lot of the flavors and decorations will cater towards young children. I thought the donuts were OK, nothing seriously wowed me. The downside was the donuts we had left over from yesterday are now hard as a rock in all had to be thrown out. So make sure you don't purchase thinking that you'll have them for days on end, they don't last! Was this the best donut I've had in the cities though? Not even close! The reasons are that they make an amazing bacon donut and I love their roasted coffee! The donut may look like it packs a punch of sugar but it's perfect taste for me! i love that people are all ape shit crazy over a piece of bacon on a friggin donut. It's not like the dude invented friggin wheel or anything. I think they use this kind of trick to get people talking. Nothing wrong with that. If I had a business and I wanted to get attention, I would try to go over the top and instead of doing something like putting a strip of bacon on the donut, I'd fill it with 100 dollar bills, or some sheep eyeballs. That way I can call Andrew Zimmern over and get a photo op of him eating said disgusting item (although I suspect he would take the hundos out of the donut before eating it, off camera, of course, stuffing them in his pocket) but the eyeballs he wouldn't blink at because, as you know, he is CRAZY AND WILL EAT ANYTHING. That said, the donuts are really good here. All butter and sugar and not at all greasy. The first time I came to YoYo's I was a minute too late and watched as the guy who came in before me bought the only three donuts left in the case...I guess I can't blame him as I would have done the same thing. However, all was not lost! I really enjoyed my cup of single origin bold coffee. In fact, watching the barista make the coffee was almost as fun as drinking it! They have a Clover coffee machine that is used to brew your personal cuppa joe to perfection. My second visit to YoYo was much more successful in the donut department. I got a chocolate frosted creation topped with Oreo cookie crumbles, and my two year old girly girl had a standard cake donut with vanilla frosting and valentines themed sprinkles. Now, I could go on about how awesome our doughy treats were, but I think my daughters summary of her donut experience says it best "Mommy, these donuts are pretty and yummy!" read more

I finally made it to YoYo Donuts this morning after drooling daily as I drove past it to work. I must admit that I snickered a bit when I realized this donut shop and coffee bar is nestled between a diet center and a Snap Fitness. He he. The month of drooling was well worth it when I saw the array of donut-deliciousness, the hip atmosphere, and smelled the lovely coffee. I had the Cherry Fritter and my friend had some of the frosted cake donuts. Yum! Bonus points for being peanut & tree-nut free for those families with allergies. I stopped by one Sunday morning around 10am with my 3-year old & 1-year old girls. A line was beginning to form, so I was glad we got there when we did. The staff was very attentive. We ordered a dozen donut holes & a half-dozen mixed donuts. My 3-year old loved her glazed donut with sprinkles while my 1-year old devoured her first donut ever. They were eyeing up the candy donuts & Cocoa puff topped donuts. I had a cinnamon pretzel donut, which tasted just like a cinnamon roll. The donuts are sweet, but not cloyingly so. The texture of the donuts are rather light. Definitely not the dense donuts you find in the stores. I docked one star for the following: I wish the donuts had display labels because I had to ask what each donut was. You could kind of guess, but there were some that I just wasn't sure (e.g., cherry filled donut; not sure what the cinnamon pretzel was). Also, I wish the barista called out drinks. I didn't know I had to wait for my coffee so I got my girls settled in with their donuts & by the time I went back up to check on my drink, my coffee was lukewarm. I just called Yo Yo Doughnuts because my son is soy allergic. The thing is soy is actually an allergy in which he can each so much that actually says it has it (soy bean oil and soy lecithin). I called Yo Yo and talked to Chris. I am not sensitive nor am I not used to getting shot down. I asked about soy and said that my son cannot eat at his establishment. I asked for a list of ingredients and he said, "Ma'am, we use so many types of soy and unless you want me to grab you pages and pages and pages I don't know what to tell you. It's not going to work for you." His voice felt mean and I felt like he didn't care. No apology nor even a kind voice. I just feel sad and really disappointed about how the guy talked to me when I thought this place really focused on food allergy kids. :( read more

It happened to be National Donut Day a few Fridays ago and a co-worker brought us some donuts because he is a donut lover (yes - his desktop background are donuts, I'd call it love). He brought quite a variety and we all couldn't stop the food orgasms happening in this training room. I think my co-worker had 5 donuts that morning and I had a couple which were melt in your mouth deliciousness. We were very satisfied that a cigarette had to do afterward (no, I kid, I kid). I had a glazed donut and one that had a raspberry frosting on it. My co-worker had one that had fruit loops all over it. So it was quite an assortment of donuts. Yoyo continues to be my favorite donut shop around. The only downside is that you need to get there at the right times when they have many options because I've also been there when they have little to no flavors left... and that's not my favorite. Amazing a "Peanut and Tree-nut free place" that means a lot to a parent with a child with a peanut allergy! Wonderful smell, very welcoming, clean and attractive presentation of donuts. Very nice patient teen behind the counter. We had the Bismarck, long john and bacon maple bar on this trip. They were all eaten too quickly. Nothing original or special. The filling and taste are what you expect them to be which is comforting.. which is why we eat doughnuts. Good for a special treat but couldn't justify going regularly. First time we came the coffee was the worst tasting I ever had. I have been scared to try again, but after reading other reviews I'll try again next time and report my opinion. YoYo donuts does not mess around when it comes to donuts guys. There are so many different kinds of donuts here and every one I've tried is yummier than the last. My favorite donut I've had by far is the lemon glazed old fashion donut. I'm a huge fan of old fashioned donuts and paired with the lemon glaze makes it a must have. There is always a large selection of donuts no matter the time of day which is really nice. This shop also serves ice cream and beverages, but I've always stuck with a classic donut.
