Regular Poke Bowl
Ethan G.

What can I say about this place, Yum poke is one of my personal favorites in Asheville. Amazing and fresh food and kind and friendly customer service. I highly recommend getting a Bowl with brown rice and crab salad and spicy salmon with pineapple, edamame, jalapeños, avocado, with sweet Shoyu and Unagi sauces with tempura flakes

No one @ me this place is the biggest slay Asheville has seen since the establishment of the Biltmore estate in 1895. The fish portions are so generous and the sauce is mmm scrumdiliumptious. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of all things poke, I think it's safe to say you can trust me on this one.

Yum...Is an accurate word to describe Yum Sushi Burrito & Poke!! Wonderful fresh ingredients with lots of choices to build a salad, burrito or a bowl! The portions are very generous & delicious! Nice to have a healthy food choice on Long Shoals Rd.

Just awful, this is not Hawaiian food. Low quality. I do not recommend this place if you have any knowledge of good food.

Ordered the miso soup, which was a nice size portion. There was plenty of tofu, and greens in the soup. Had a nice flavor, served warm to almost hot perfect where you could actually eat it and not burn your tongue. 7 out of 10 Beautiful, very lovely sushi, see photo. There was a nice size portion, the taste was delightful. The rice was cooked to perfection. 7 put of 10 Restaurant is very clean. Staff is friendly. 8 out of 10 I personally feel the best time to come into the restaurant is between three and five. It's not as busy. The food is still fresh and delicious. I rate the atmosphere 7. out of 10. The restaurant is right next to the gas station. Don't let that fool you this is a great little hole in the wall to visit, talk with the staff. Yes, there is a language barrier to a degree but they're so friendly and nice to take a minute how are you doing? I took the time to talk with the owner of the restaurant, I personally feel getting to know your local restaurant owners and staff is a good thing. It'll make your dining experience better. Zew, started creating sushi and cooking Japanese food back in 2001, Mr. Sushi opened in 2017, there was not very many sushi restaurants in the Asheville then. There's been many sushi restaurants come and go since then. There are Sushi/ Japanese/Hibachi restaurants in the area, however this one is truly a wonderful restaurant to visit it's quaint and down to earth-place, this is why I highly recommend this restaurant this is restaurant. with great personality. Zew is. Owners he is a delight to talk with, you see the passion in his face when he's talking about his food that he's created the original rolls that he makes. I recommend trying the Rangoon roll. There's no fish in it. It's there's imitation crab. It's a wonderful thing that he is doing here and he has truly traditional Japanese fried noodles. Which is very much a difference between the Chinese way of cooking the noodles. As much as I'd like to give five stars I cannot because I rarely give five stars. I love this place. I would return to this place and I hope that you will come to this place too and enjoy wonderful sushi and a little a hole in the wall from somebody that has compassion for the food he creates.

Making a reservation for a Saturday evening at 6pm for my family of three, here's our experience. 1) Food: Look on the dining room wall and you'll find a list of ingredients sources from local growers and makers. When they can, they incorporate them into dishes. To feed my wife, eight-year-old daughter, we ordered the chive buns, pumpkin soup, crudo (made with scallops), seared scallops, beets and carrots, roasted mushrooms, campanelle, and the Japanese cheesecake. Each dish came out beautifully presented. The favorite dishes were the chive buns with the kimchi butter, the pumpkin soup, roasted mushrooms, and Japanese cheesecake. 2) Drinks: The menu is diverse with cocktails, wine, beer, and more. I enjoyed a glass of their orange wine. It tasted like a cross between hard cider and a Sauvignon blanc. 3) Service: This was the star of the evening. Our server was amazing- personable, knowledgeable of the menu, passionate about the concept. She was excellent! 4) Space: Park on the street out front and walk inside into the dimly lit space with a bar and a small dining room. It's decorated well and cozy.

I was relieved to see they had a parking lot with free parking though since my prior 2 days in Asheville I struggled to find parking everywhere I tried to go. We ordered 2 create your own poke bowls with the 3 proteins. When I saw what was classified as "protein," I was disappointed because although they had a lot of options for protein, the menu only allowed for an option of 2 or 3 protein per bowl. I'm not sure if I could've asked for more, but I just went by the menu and ordered 3. But I had a hard time selecting because there was multiple proteins I wanted. I was able to rule out scallop which I normally ordered because theirs looked incredibly dry though. I also wanted to order spicy crabmeat which is another usual, but most poke places do not consider that a protein and it comes as a complimentary topping usually so I was disappointed I couldn't order that here as it would've counted as my protein. I decided on spicy salmon, salmon, and spicy tuna. In the end, I was pleased with my choices and bowl. They allow you to choose as many mix ins as you want (at least 10 options)- I think I picked all but 3 of them. They have a variety of sauces- again, I think 10 different ones. They were unique sauces that I hadn't seen before at other places as well. I went with siracha aioli and sweet shoyu. I had to ask for a little of each since they are generous with the sauce. My husband and I shared a bowl and it was enough for both of us. The ingredients tasted and looked very fresh. They give very generous portions of fish. Probably the most I've ever been given on my poke bowl, actually. My sister ordered the scallop despite it looking dry and she said it was actually not bad as well. We were all quite pleased with our bowls and definitely would come back!

I wasn't starving so I had a kid's size poke salad, it was delicious with all the toppings I chose, and I wasn't bloated when I left. I had the spicy crab as my protein and liked it. Everything I had was fresh and they fixed it up fast. Can't complain! I got to try Cheerwine off the soda fountain for the first time, that stuff is good. I mixed it with diet pepsi to keep from drinking too much sugar.
