I was visiting Asheville for a conference and decided I didn't want conference food for lunch. My husband and I quickly got a table outside to enjoy the weather. Our server came quickly and shared the daily specials. I ordered fish tacos and my husband ordered a Hawaiian combo bowl. Both were delicious! The portions were large and I could not eat both tacos. We highly recommend this place and we will be back!

We happened to be in the area for a short day trip in Asheville and came across Hulu Sue's. It was our first time trying Hawaiian food but definitely will not be our last! Service was great! The server explained all the variety of dishes and made great recommendations. The ambiance is cute, beachy, laid back. The food was so good. We couldn't eat it all in one serving , the leftovers tasted like they were freshly made when we heated them up.

The flavors of the chicken were a perfect balance of sweet and salty. It was grilled to perfection! The mac salad was also great. The restaurant is so inviting, clean, and a breath of fresh air. The real stars of the show were the staff! Our hostess and waitress were so kind and quick.

Loved the Ruben! Huge and perfect for sharing. The cole slaw is delicious when a touch of herbs. The pineapple hard cider is out of this world! Great service.

Huli Sue's was the perfect pre-show dinner spot. We were in Asheville last month for a comedy show and walked over for drinks and dinner beforehand -- such a great choice. We had some really fun, delicious drinks to start, and the bartender was friendly and on point without being overbearing. The space itself felt just right -- not too big, not too cramped -- and everything was clean (including the bathrooms, which always matters). Food-wise: wow. My husband ordered the Hawaiian teriyaki burger, and I got the Hawaiian combo bowl with huli chicken, pork katsu, and sweet chili shrimp, served with rice, Hawaiian mac salad, and pickled cabbage. Oh. My. God. So good. Everything was flavorful, well-cooked, and super satisfying. I couldn't quite finish my bowl (portions are generous), but I really wish I'd had room for dessert because they all looked amazing. Great food, great drinks, friendly service, and a fun atmosphere -- we'll absolutely be back next time we're in Asheville.

Very nice place , food was awesome and the welcome was very friendly. It was a good day to sit outside and enjoy the meal with some live music from the opposite street .

Wowowowoowowow. Huli Sue's does NOT disappoint. We had a reservation in advance, this place was packed! Everything was so delicious. We had the blue Hawaii and mai tai, nachos and fries to start, and all our entrees were delicious. SO much food for the price - it was well worth it, we took half home! Service was great, honestly can't wait to come back!

First stop on our weekend get away was to find some lunch. Checking Yelp, this was a too recommendation near us, so we decided to give it a try. We were given the option of indoor or outdoor seating upon arrival and with nearly perfect fall temps, we decided to dine outside. The server, Ren, was very friendly, and made some suggestions. I got the pulled pork sandwich, as she advised their brisket was a bit more fatty. Given the options of sides, I opted for their Friday special and got a cup of the Brunswick stew. Everything was very tasty, served quickly and just a good starting point to our trip in western NC. We enjoyed our stop at Huli Sue's but will say it a bit on the pricey side for a lunch, so just soemthing to keep in mind if you're on a budget. Otherwise, I'd say recommend checking it out

Wow again! Each time I visit Asheville I'm blown away by the excellence, quality, & fun diversity of this town's food scene. Huli Sue's is such a fun surprise. Think Hawaiian. a little Korean or Japanese, & international barbecue. We started with a special appetizer of ribs breaded & coated with sauce & sesame. I honestly don't know all that was in it, but it was brilliant, succulent, tasty, & had us wishing we had more. Next we shared an order of pork nachos. This has a lot going on with chips, pulled pork, pickled onion, jalapeños, cheese, pineapple sauce, sour cream, & a wonderful tasting sauce. So tasty! Then I ordered an entree which was a sampler of sweet chili shrimp, pork katsu, & Huli chicken. The shrimp was amazing! The chicken was fairly good, & the pork katsu was initially boring. However I added their bottled barbecue sauce to the pork katsu & that immediately elevated it. What a unique meal.

TROPICAL HEAVEN IN THE SOUTH! We had dinner here on Halloween and were blown away! I highly recommend making a reservation, it is small and can fill up fast. Drinks were delicious. Check their menu for drink deals, for instance on Fridays specialty drinks are $3 off! For appetizers we got cornbread and the brisket nachos. The nachos were some of the best we've had, and I give them props for the ration of chips to toppings being perfect. The cornbread had a delectable candy butter on top. For our main we shared the combo bowl. My husband's favorite meat was the pork katsu while mine was the grilled chicken. I'm usually not huge of mac salad but this one was delectable and rich. I highly recommend coming here for southern meets tropical vibes next time you're downtown in Asheville!

I loveeee cornbread!!!! I had no idea this Hawaiian spot existed up until last week when I was just finding random places on my map to check out! I love Hawaiian food so much and this Hawaiian bbq was very good. Service was kind and ambiance is cute! It's located on the outside of the grove arcade building and can only be accessed outside. The grove arcade building is worth a check out as well! The aesthetic is elegant on the inside! Parking across the street was about $6 in the parking deck!

Everything on my plate was so alarmingly delicious that I could have eaten this meal every day for the rest of my life. The macaroni salad and katsu were STAND-OUTS! The service was fast and the ambiance was lively. I wish I could've tried their desserts, which looked beautiful.

    Hawaiian Combo Bowl

I went here for the first time today. My server was Sara, and she was super friendly and helpful in giving recommendations and explaining the menu and specials. I got the Hawaiian Combo bowl because I'm indecisive and wanted to try the pork, Sue's Huli chicken and the shrimp. All three were very flavorful and delicious. My favorite was the chicken- it was so tender and I loved the sauce. The rice was fluffy and the Hawaiian macaroni salad was much better than regular macaroni salad I've had elsewhere. I look forward to coming back here next time I'm in Asheville!

I was relieved to see they had a parking lot with free parking though since my prior 2 days in Asheville I struggled to find parking everywhere I tried to go. We ordered 2 create your own poke bowls with the 3 proteins. When I saw what was classified as "protein," I was disappointed because although they had a lot of options for protein, the menu only allowed for an option of 2 or 3 protein per bowl. I'm not sure if I could've asked for more, but I just went by the menu and ordered 3. But I had a hard time selecting because there was multiple proteins I wanted. I was able to rule out scallop which I normally ordered because theirs looked incredibly dry though. I also wanted to order spicy crabmeat which is another usual, but most poke places do not consider that a protein and it comes as a complimentary topping usually so I was disappointed I couldn't order that here as it would've counted as my protein. I decided on spicy salmon, salmon, and spicy tuna. In the end, I was pleased with my choices and bowl. They allow you to choose as many mix ins as you want (at least 10 options)- I think I picked all but 3 of them. They have a variety of sauces- again, I think 10 different ones. They were unique sauces that I hadn't seen before at other places as well. I went with siracha aioli and sweet shoyu. I had to ask for a little of each since they are generous with the sauce. My husband and I shared a bowl and it was enough for both of us. The ingredients tasted and looked very fresh. They give very generous portions of fish. Probably the most I've ever been given on my poke bowl, actually. My sister ordered the scallop despite it looking dry and she said it was actually not bad as well. We were all quite pleased with our bowls and definitely would come back!

I wasn't starving so I had a kid's size poke salad, it was delicious with all the toppings I chose, and I wasn't bloated when I left. I had the spicy crab as my protein and liked it. Everything I had was fresh and they fixed it up fast. Can't complain! I got to try Cheerwine off the soda fountain for the first time, that stuff is good. I mixed it with diet pepsi to keep from drinking too much sugar.
