I've been coming to Yum Yum Donuts probably 50 times, and usually everything is solid. The donuts are good, the sandwiches are great, and the place is clean and consistent. But today was a different experience. I went in around 7:30 a.m. during the morning rush and asked for a dozen donuts. I let the employee pick them out, paid, and took them to work. When I finally ate one around 10 a.m., the donut was really hard. It didn't feel fresh at all--it honestly tasted like a day-old donut. Definitely not the soft, fresh quality I'm used to from this place. On top of that, the service was struggling. There was only one cashier handling everything--taking orders, picking donuts, and ringing people up--while a long line kept building. She kept calling for her coworker, Ivan, to come help, but he never came out. I felt bad for her because she was clearly overwhelmed. It ended up taking about 10 minutes just to get a dozen donuts. This place is usually reliable, which is why this stood out. I'm giving it 3 stars because I think it was just a bad day, but there are definitely things that need to improve. During the morning rush, there should be more than one person up front, and the donuts should always be fresh--especially that early in the day. I'll still come back, but I hope this was just a one-time issue. read more

Do yourself a favor and drive to the Yum Yum in Imperial Beach. Everything is burnt and poorly made. I think they burn the glaze regularly because the maple looks like chocolate and the chocolate looks lumpy and not smooth. Their other pastries look sad and stale. Customer service is so-so. Everyone working here seems bothered they have to do their job. The cleanliness got better in front but looks pretty gross in the back. read more

My friend and I came across this Yum Yum Donuts located 482 W. San Ysidro Blvd. It's a small place, where a family runs the store. Everyone was very nice and helpful. I ordered the breakfast meal that includes a breakfast sandwich, a donut, and a regular coffee for $6.99. Everything tasted delicious . My sandwich was made to order, the donut was fresh, and coffee hot and fresh. I appreciated the entire staff awesome customer service. I give this place a overall score of 4 stars. It's a great place to get coffee and donuts. Yelpers definitely give them a try if you're near the San Ysidro border. read more

Terrible service this morning on my daily walk stop by to get my mother some sweets this morning at Yum Yum's in San Ysidro. I had my 8 pound dog with me. Patiently waiting with about six customers ahead of me.. the attendant lady yelled across the counter, asking me if my dog was a service dog. I answered yes would you like me to show you? Her answer was I'd like you to get out. I asked again you just asked if he was a service dog. My answer was yes would you like me to prove it to you? She said no please get out.. Being that it was Sandy Isidro, I would've imagined that there would be more customer service. I honestly have been coming here for years, but this will be the last time.. Yum Yum I appreciate you for the many years since I was eight years old. But nasty attitudes like that will never want to step foot into Yum Yum store again. I generally do not leave reviews but for the sake of fellow customers. I just left the location and the employee that works the front counter gave me and my mom the worst customer service I have ever experienced. She was rude and unprofessional. We ordered half a dozen and in the middle of ordering we asked how many donuts we had already ordered. Her response was well how many have you asked for. Really?! Be kind to your customers. I had to tell her about the horrible experience and left with no donuts. Thanks to the employee this location lost a customer. If could give this 0 stars I would. read more

The employees here are very rude. They think they are the law. They have a no cell phone policy at the San Ysidro location none of the other yum yum donuts in the area have that policy. Nobody even sits there to eat donuts it's mainly a to go carryout yum yum donuts. I also noticed that one of the ladies refused to help a customer who had already ordered but forgot something. She told her she would not take her order twice? They run this donut shop like if it were in Tijuana. This is by far the best donut shop in the South Bay. For starters, the donuts at Yum Yum are twice the size of Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts. The boxes which Yum Yum uses to hold a dozen donuts are much larger in volume than their competitors as well. The selection is much better and the prices are cheaper as well. I wish they had a Yum Yum in my neighborhood, but then again it's probably a good thing that they are a distance away or it could be dangerous for me. read more

Gosh, This Yum Yum Donut shop has been there as long as I can remember. Always keep coming back to this location for their Cinnamon Rolls, Apple Fritters, and Maple Bars. My Kids love coming here for the fudge chocolate sprinkles. The coffee is not bad, and the price on the Dozen is good. A plus on buying the dozen is you get 2 free donuts when you buy a dozen donuts. They keep making donuts all day long as needed. So, anytime you go in they'll have your favorites ready to go. Some times you'll even get them warm. The cashier is very rude. Came in around midnight because my wife works night shift and wanted some coffee and a doughnut. When I go in there's literally no customers and I'm FTing my wife to ask her which one she wants. It's the middle of the night selection was slim. I was literally standing back away from the counter and the lady just kept saying you can't use your cell phone. Honestly if it wasn't for my wife being exhausted and wanting coffee I would have walked out. I can see if I'm at your register yapping away holding up other customers or disturbing others but I literally was in no way causing a problem and it was the middle of the night. Can't imagine why this policy is in place but definitely rubbed me the wrong way. Not to mention since the lady kept rudely insisting I get off my phone I asked my wife what she wants and I'll just go from there, and I ask the cashier do you have any Maple flavored ones? She replied, what you see is what we have!!!" "You cannot sit in!!!" Ummm ok ma'am it's the middle of the night and all your tables and chairs are stacked, plus you're so unfriendly I wouldn't want to stay here and eat-- even if you were open. Save your time. I have been coming to this location for years! Ever since I was a fat little kid! The people here at great, especially the night shift. They are always friendly and helpful. I like that they replenish their donuts rather quick but if you get their too late they won't have any of the specialty donuts like apple fritters, etc. They even have ice cream. I have yet to try it but the ice cream doesn't look that tempting. I give this place 5/5 because they always have a decent selection of donuts and the staff is typically rather nice. One gripe: They need ID's whenever you pay with a card. They are pretty serious about it too. One time I tried paying with my bank card and got rejected because I forgot my ID. It sucked but I actually appreciate them carding like that. I wish more places did the same. read more

My brother purchased a cinnamon roll donut for me just two nights ago and once I got to the center of it I noticed I was eating a fucking raw roll. Within hours I was in so much pain, my back had shooting pains i couldn't move, my headache was so severe it felt like someone was squeezing my head and my eyes were going to come out of their sockets.. my body hurt so much I developed a fever of 102 that kept fluctuating I had to force myself into a cold shower to keep my body temp down. Worst of it all is I'm pregnant and I had salmonella poisoning from this place. Fucking RAW DOUGH!!! BE CAREFUL!! I came in moments ago with the intention of purchasing a meal. Changed my mind immediately after noticing how filthy this location was. I usually carry my own tea bags and asked the cashier if I could buy a cup with hot water. Usually, most places will never charge me more than a dollar for this, being that it's simply a cup with hot water. She told me that she was going to charge me as if I was purchasing a hot drink, which rangers from $2.00 all the way up to almost $4.00. Outraged I asked why and if she was the manager. She said she was not but that this policy was her rule and I was welcome to speak to her superior. I hope I'm not exaggerating but I don't believe I was going to be fairly charged which is why I rated this establishment one star. On the other hand, I'm sure they have good donuts. read more

The older, thin lady who works mainly in the evening, during the week needs a lesson in respect! First of all BE AWARE! WHEN SHE TELLS YOU YOUR CARD DIDN'T WORK, IT STILL CHARGES YOU!!! This happened to me &i don't hold cash so I left empty handed. Later the same night, I went next door &used the same debit card at the taco shop. Worked fine. I went online to check my account balance &seen she charged me the amount I had planned to purchase. I went back to show her &as luck would have it, a guy was being told the same thing about his card. I chimed in showing her my account on my phone &before I even finished, right away she barks "no, it's not my machine, it's your bank. You have to talk to your bank." I stated I just used my card &my bank would charge me when is clearly said "yum yum donuts". She repeated herself, probably because she didn't know any other words in english to say it.
