I was craving mochi donuts so we stopped by Mochinut in National City. It's located in the Tita's Kitchen plaza so parking is extremely scarce. Service was mehh... 1 guy was preparing something and the other guy was at the back on the computer. Neither of them seemed interested in taking our orders. Then finally, the guy preparing something took our order. We ordered a box of a dozen donuts: raspberry funnel cake, churro, chocolate churro, chocolate chip, blueberry, and matcha. All flavors were really good. We like to cut them up and eat each ball so we can taste the different flavors. Overall, delicious donuts. I'd keep coming back to the Mochinut brand for my mochi donut fix. read more

I came in to enjoy some dessert and noticed a whole bunch of bugs in this place . The service was good but the place is super dirty. I don't know how people continue to come with conditions like this . You shouldn't walk in an establishment and notice bugs in the corners of the windows ON THE INSIDE . Don't come within an hour of closing. Idk if the girl thought I was being rude when I asked if it was all they had& she said well we are closing soon. I understand that part, but I guess, brushed it off. I asked to clear the rest of the 6 remaining donuts. My nephew ordered a strawberry matcha, but they ran out of strawberry. My other 2 nephews ordered corn dogs, but she missed 1. She did add strawberry jelly in place of the missing strawberry syrup. For my nephew that missed the corn dog. She did apologize and assured me she didn't charge me. I didn't get a receipt, but I basically calculated the total from the menu pics from my fellow helpers. She thought that he was ordering without my consent when I did say go ahead& order what you want. He told her 3xs his order, but I guess she only heard the other 2. The moch are just okay now, it doesn't have that fresh taste. The Ube isn't even glazed over nicely. The chocolate ones are inconsistent with 1 missing some almonds. Friendly and quick service. Small inside with a couple tables and cute photo op wall. There weren't many flavors/donuts on display but the flavors were written on the glass and I saw a tray of donuts ready to go in the back. I got the ube, churro, and chocolate churro. It's really good fresh but gets stale fast, but that's just because of the chewy mochi. I also got an original mozarella Korean "hot dog". Came here at 3pm after just finishing work in the area, didnt eat breakfast or lunch and the crispy, fried mozzarella hit the spot. This time, I decided to switch it up and try their fries, and I'm so glad I did! They offer both crinkle and straight cut, which I thought was a fun option. I went with the crinkle fries and they were honestly amazing--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with flavor. Terrible service. Like appallingly bad. I had Roel help me. He was less than thrilled to be there. Everything I said was met with attitude. I was there to purchase a dozen for my brother's birthday. Naturally he wanted different flavors. When I expressed I'd be hand picking them rather than doing two of each, Roel was none too thrilled. While paying, I asked if I could use the restroom. I saw the door, but it had a lock code on it. He didn't reply. Assuming he didn't hear me, I asked again. He just looked at me and walked to the back. Um, okay. Then when he came back, he finally replied. Bathroom didn't have running water. Cool. Then, when I came back out, I went to sit at a table and wait. He said, "there's your order," without looking at me, acknowledging me, anything. I don't care for small talk or pleasantries when I'm picking up an order. In fact, I prefer no small talk. I definitely don't expect a red carpet to be rolled out in my honor, but a little bit of human decency goes a long way. Responding when asked a question is my idea of common decency. Roel's facial expressions and can't-be-bothered attitude really made the whole experience awful. Please save your time and go to a different location! It will spare you the awful taste left after interacting with someone so unpleasant. I am a paying customer and 7 months pregnant, letting me know the bathroom is open for public use shouldn't be like pulling teeth. It's nice to see a Mochinut open up here in National City! It's refreshing to see a new dessert/ snack shop in the area that is not just boba! They had many donuts readily available and we decided on a dozen to try new flavors. Avocado (3/5): Green icing and a white chocolate chip on top. This one was a little strange but it didn't have any hint of avocado. It wasn't bad but this flavor definitely got our attention to try it! Oreo (4/5): I love a cookies and cream flavor so this one was going to be sweet but paired with the chewy fried dough it was like eating a fried Oreo. Churro (3/5): Looks and tastes like a churro! I wouldn't my really go for this one but we chose this for more variety. Strawberry Funnel Cake (5/5): My favorite out of all of them. I walked in on a Friday afternoon to grab a 6-pack and was immediately greeted as I stepped through the door--super quick and friendly service! All the mochi donuts were fresh, and they had such fun flavors today: raspberry funnel, chocolate funnel, chocolate churro, churro, avocado, cookies and cream, ube, and original. They switch out the flavors every week, so there's always something new to try. This is hands-down my favorite local spot for donuts, Korean corn dogs, and boba. I was excited to see a Mochinut had opened close by however I noticed the prices here are higher than at the other Mochinut locations. I got the Ube Coffee ($6.25) and a Hot Cheetos Mozzarella hot dog ($6.50). The drink consisted of so much ice, it was decent. At the Encinitas location the other day, I had a Hot Cheetos Cheddar hot dog for $5.25 (they didn't have the cheddar cheese filling option at this location)... that's $1.25 more here! I love the diversity mochinut offers in flavors. This was my second time trying these hotdogs and they definitely wowed me. My first experience wasn't the best, so I was a little skeptical. The young man who helped me was an amazing help as he answered all my questions without hesitation. He even provided me with his recommendation with the sauce selection. It was my first time at a Mochinut which was recommended by my friends. I didn't realize how many of these locations have closed in SD. There's really nothing memorable about this place. It's your typical little Asian snack cafe with no frills. The place seemed quiet and unexciting, which was also accompanied by the lackluster donut flavors they had to offer. He suggested the ube drink with boba and Oreo omg that drink was AMAZING!!! My older son ended up taking my drink. I came here because I have been wanting to try the donuts. We got the 3 flavor box. The funnel cake, banana milk and churro. I wish they had more than the 6 flavors they had. But those 3 flavors we got were all so good! The churro one was my favorite. The donut is fluffy and so soft. My mom that doesn't really like sweets even enjoyed the donut I got her. We will definitely get them again hopefully more are opening near the inland empire. read more
