If you know, you know. The Beyer Deli is truly one of a kind. It's a bit hidden and only open during the week, but it's absolutely worth finding. The service is amazing -- friendly staff and owners who welcome you right when you walk in. It's small and cozy with indoor and outdoor seating. Cash only, so come prepared. I got the Italian sub toasted and whew... chef's kiss. Meaty, flavorful, and seriously satisfying.

I had heard nothing but great things and needed to try it for myself! I arrived at 2:15 and they were definitely slowing down and getting ready to close for the day as it looked to be cleaned up on the inside. They have some tables and chairs for those eating there but I opted for to go. My partner got the California club and I got the raging Bull. I really enjoyed mine and liked the kick from the jalapeños and green Chiles, definitely more on the basic deli sandwich side but very good The chicken club was also good and it came with a full chicken breast, we both like a little more razzle dazzle with our sandwhiches but for the original deli vibe this did hit the spot! Seems like a family owned place which I love supporting and would definitely come back to try their sides or salads if I have the opportunity!

Michael & Dina are the best! The whole deli staff is great! Friendly, great food, and an absolute gem of a sandwich shop. The pastrami sandwich was fantastically and the Italian Sub was equally great. The deli is 20 miles from our home but well worth the trip. We wish them the best of luck. Sincerely, Carl & Debbie's

Cash only. This is usually a good indicator that the food will be something memorable. However, I was surprised to discover that it really is the power of one person who can make a business shine. I was greeted warmly and guided thoughtfully as a first-time customer. The Reuben is a must and the California (triple-stacked) is delightful. Not having enough cash, the kind lady behind the counter told me to pay the $8 additional when I was able to. I went to the nearest ATM while sandwiches were carefully crafted. On my return, a gentleman in front of me had also returned to pay off his "small debt" from a previous visit and same cash situation. Seems as though this occasionally happens and the business extends kindness and trust to every customer. Go for some sandwiches that you could not really make at home. Delicious! Return for the feeling of stepping into a warm and welcoming home where they remember your name. Recommended!!!

Beyer Deli has developed a reputation as one of the best delicatessens in SD County. In 2023, this business was ranked #4 on Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in the US. With such a high distinction, I made a trip last month to Otay Mesa for a visit. The suite was located in the Three Flags Business Park. It didn't really stand out in the plaza as there was some signage and a few outside tables with canopies for seating. The inside could hold a couple of dozen customers. I had expected a larger operation, but this place was definitely a mom-and-pop shop. I counted 25 different deli sandwiches on the menu board. You could order some of them as a 1/2 sandwich for as cheap as $5.95. The most expensive ones were the triple deckers that cost a reasonable $14.95 each. Grilled cheese, quesadillas, submarines, soups, and salads were the other lunch fare categories. A separate list of breakfast foods and beverages was served between 8 and 10 am. I chose two items for my to-go order. The first was a 1/2 Roast Beef Deli Sandwich. Provolone and wheat were my cheese and bread selections respectively. The meat used was from Boar's Head which was pretty standard. This sandwich was decent for the price. The second was a New Yorker Specialty Sandwich. The ingredients were grilled pastrami and corned beef topped with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard on a torta. This item was packed with flavor from the grilled meats. It was well worth the $12.95 tag. A dill pickle spear came with each sandwich. It took about 15 minutes for the kitchen to prepare my order. The service was friendly, and the dining room was kept clean. I enjoyed my experience at Beyer Deli, however I didn't think it quite stacked up to a number four place to eat in the US.

This place is extra amazing. Their prices are legit. This place is cheaper and five million times better than Chubway. The sandwiches are huge, full of whatever toppings you desire. Everyone working here is super nice and they'll accommodate most reasonable requests you can come up with. My wife and I tend to show up here before taking our doggies to Silverwing Park. She really enjoys the tuna on wheat with sprouts. I've tried the BBQ beef, New Yorker, and I SWEAR they made me a toasted PB & J once but I may be incorrect. Either way, like I said they're accommodating as heck here. Their sandos are off the hook. It is cash only so be prepared!

Absolutely phenomenal Human Warmth and 5-Star Service. This Family knows how to run the best deli ever!

Truly a hidden gem! Just a reminder it's a cash only establishment but it's so worth it. If you are ever craving a saucy full of flavor cold cut, this is your place. Heavy on they support their troops and you can either eat inside or in the patio out front. Plenty of parking available as well. The service is top tier and the staff is very friendly, they make you feel like family.

My wife and I have been to Beyer Deli twice, and it has never disappointed. The woman at the front is always incredibly sweet and helpful. The deli is clean and has a cool law-enforcement theme. We ordered the New Yorker and the Hot and Delicious, and both sandwiches were amazing. They were generously stuffed--we honestly could have shared just one. The bread was fresh and loaded with meat. Highly recommend this deli. You will not be disappointed!

At long last we beamed down, and the experience surpassed every expectation. From the moment we entered, the atmosphere felt like coming home to a welcoming starbase. The staff treated us with genuine warmth and patience as we navigated a menu full of storied classics. Their attentive service turned a simple meal into a memorable mission. My first officer aka wife enjoyed a superbly composed salad, and chose the Turkey Club -- both delivered with thoughtful care. I began with the biscuits and gravy, a traditional hit that tasted like comforting shore leave. But the true highlight was the patty melt: perfectly seared, with lush caramelized onions and melted cheese that achieved harmony at warp speed. It was, without hyperbole, the best patty melt I've encountered in this quadrant. Each bite was a cascade of flavor that felt like discovering a thriving new world. This kitchen knows how to respect ingredients and execute classics flawlessly. No extra condiments were necessary -- the craftsmanship spoke for itself. DZ Akins is now a plotted course for every future convoy through I‑8. Highly recommended for anyone seeking honest, stellar diner fare and service that treats you like family among the stars. We figured this restaurant would serve us well for what it's worth. We had since discovered that depending on which section you were seated on, you may or may not get lacklustre service. This visit was such the latter case. Our waitress, who I believed to be named "Charlotte", unless of course I absolutely misread or misremembered the name, did not seem to recognise nor care for us, despite the amount of dough we put into their entire business (outside of their souvenir shop). Long story short: she was incredibly slow to get our drinks, and even slower to take our order. Meanwhile, she was more than willing to give a much more expedient service and a pleasant conversation to other customers and even her co-workers. At first with the initial service, I was worried about when she'd get on over here within the first five or so minutes to take our drink orders. Heck, even when I requested a refill for my water, she told us "give me a few minutes" as loud and clear as it were. But it wasn't until we were eating where she promptly asked the table behind us for their drinks, AS SOON AS THEY WERE SAT DOWN. That's when I got absolutely infuriated, and felt that my suspicions about her unpleasant and passive-aggressive behaviour were proven to be true. Keep in mind: it was practically dead, not even remotely busy during that day and time of day, with only but about eight customers in TOTAL, including us. The food was okay, I will say, but this time, I just didn't feel like I could take on the whole food order like I usually had done in the past. Whether it was because I slurped too much of that shake, or because I was being treated very poorly with my friend, one would have to take a stab in the dark on that one. We left extremely bitter about the situation, and we even thought a $10 tip was far too generous for the terrible treatment we received from our waitress around that day; we usually tip much higher than that. I've since been very uneasy about coming here even to pick up some fresh bagels from the bakery.

My favorite salads are the Grapevine and Duck Cranberry. For sides I recommend the potato salad and tomato basil bisque. The aioli they use is to die for -- can't hurt to get a side of it with any sandwich! The restaurant is situated on the corner of Park Blvd. and Polk Ave. (more generally, it's on the strip of Park Blvd. between University Ave. and El Cajon Blvd.). Update: Came back today with my friend and we ordered the B3 and the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwiches, plus sides of potato salad and cucumber salad, and a double chocolate cookie with pistachio and sea salt. Everything was really good, but the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwich was the star of the show. The cookie was great too. On the first visit, Zack provided exceptional care and attention while helping navigate food allergies. Zack took the time to carefully check ingredients, double-check preparations, and personally come back out to verify everything to ensure safety. That level of care made the experience feel genuinely welcoming and stress-free. The chicken sandwich was fresh, satisfying, and thoughtfully balanced. Juicy chicken, ripe tomatoes, creamy avocado, and a bright splash of oil and vinegar came together beautifully on Big Front Door's roll, which had a great texture and held everything together well. The flavors were clean and vibrant. A little extra salt would have pushed it over the top for a salt-lover, but that came down to personal preference rather than any shortcoming. A dining companion ordered the avocado sandwich and could not stop raving about it, praising both the flavor and the freshness. The outdoor seating area deserves special mention. The shaded space was perfect as I do have sun allergies, especially for anyone who prefers relief from direct sun. The care taken in food preparation added an extra layer of comfort and trust. The second visit somehow raised the bar even higher. Micah went above and beyond to accommodate physical ability needs with patience, attentiveness, and genuine kindness. That effort did not go unnoticed and made the experience feel deeply respectful and inclusive. The roasted chicken sandwich ordered on the second visit was phenomenal. The roasted chicken was tender, savory, and full of depth, elevating the sandwich even further. Adding a bit of extra salt brought all the ingredients into perfect harmony, making every bite more satisfying than the last. This sandwich has officially earned a spot as a new favorite sandwich. Big Front Door was amazing not just for delicious, thoughtfully prepared food, but for the people who work there. Zack and Micah created an environment where care, kindness, and respect were clearly prioritized. No moment felt rushed, dismissive, or uncomfortable. At no point did anyone make the experience feel like a burden or inconvenience. A sincere thank-you also goes to the team members who prepared the food. Even without knowing names, the care taken to keep guests safer while serving delicious nourishment was evident and deeply appreciated. Big Front Door comes highly recommended for the flavorful sandwiches, the shaded outdoor space, the welcoming atmosphere, outstanding customer service, and the genuine kindness shown at every action.

Their pimento dip in the refrigerated area is legendary and more addictive than crack (or so I have read). They have interesting sodas, craft beers, different mustards, El Indio chips, fresh breads, and a small but very well-curated wine selection. Is there anything they do not do well here? "No," is the answer to that question. They do everything well here. They have their own parking lot but it fills up quickly. There is not much other parking in the area. My only gripe is that the parking is very limited, likely since it's located within the local apartment complex. We had to park down the road and walk over to get to the shop.
